  1. I cant get the difference. Aerial combat remains the same in full-fidelity plane and in FC plane. You can click the switches, sure, but I have all important ones bound to keys, so there is no difference with FC planes, and when you know how to do things in mirage it became absolutely the same as any FC aircraft, you just push other buttons. Yes, you have to spend some time to learn the startup sequence, radar operation and weapon deployment, but essentially it is the same. Its an airplane, it flies, it shoots. To be honest, removal of mirage is out of the question now, because so many pilots fly mirage only, but we can cut down its availability. Same can be said about radars, chaff and other things.
  2. Well, notching works vs every doppler radar, but it is purely defensive maneuver and makes you lose initiative. About radar. You - are - wrong. AFAIK if you'll judge by ingame configs, it is actually better that F-15's radar, which was best in the game (but I heard about it a while ago, so something might have changed). MiG's radar definitely is crap, Su's somewhat better. And you also have to tilt our scanning beam down or up to spot targets, you know. yeah, that really sounds funny, but for me immersion is not just clicking switches (well, that too) but I just cant make myself believe that two hordes of mirages are kicking the crap out of each other over Georgia. It just doesnt make any sense.
  3. Its less than 10 years apart with the F-15C if we take the date of coming into service, and contemporary with Su-27, so you are not wholly right. Yeah, its marginally "younger", but not by much. The point is, it breaks the immersion and balance, being only full-fidelity fighter. Sure, I understand why everyone want to fly it, but before the introduction of mirage to BF it was much more balanced in soviet fighters vs american fighters setup. D2M really kills the only advatage soviet fighters have (EOS), making them borderline useless. You can have whatever number of IR missiles, but they will be defeated by firing as much as two or three flares, and soviet SARH missiles are just garbage.
  4. Civilian traffic is fps killer.
  5. I've been thinking lately and came to conclusion that we have to remove M2K from the setup. Its just too OP and I've seen moment when I was alone in 29S and like 10-15 mirages, in the red team obviously. Its just mirage vs mirage and sometimes F-15 now, which breaks immersion for me. M2K is just too OP. D2M, best radar missile, good IR missiles, powerful radar and WVR modes, good speed and maneurability - its only flaw is 4 missiles, but it actually is not an issue because its missiles actually can hit something, while R-27T and R-73 cant. I launched 1 27T and 4 73 during one engage yesterday (my target was CrashO or other reaper, if I am not mistaken), he detected launch from below with D2M and defeated all missiles by just popping a couple of flares and casually flying around. I also cant defeat 530D with .. that maneuver... u know, when you fly towards the missile, making a high-G spiral. R-27 and AIM-7 can be defeated that way, 530 cant (well, maybe somtimes, but you cant rely on that) Discuss.
  6. Yes, also me, Naughty and Bobr were in our own TS, as we usually do.
  7. Even one fighter can stall an advance for indefinite time, if employed correctly. Just snipe attackers and helis and you'll be fine. Russian fighters have superiority here, because use of EOS and deck-level flight can give you an opportunity to engage unseen and then disengage fast, without tackling the fighters.
  8. Yes, it was unstable yesterday and is unstable today. I went to 104th, just to try it out. I dont like the concept (all vs all), 120's and all that, but man, 100 fps and no lagspikes... Maybe admins really have to consider removing a bunch of units to make the mission more lightweight.
  9. Well, get in the freaking flanker and show how the real men do it.
  10. Another idea is to divide the missions of the day into two types - the planning (build-up) missions when you cant actually capture anyhting (or maybe only minor targets) because you ground forces are exhausted and you have to supply them, and other - combat missions - attack phase - when army is ready - they attack and you can capture everything. The idea behind is to put combat mission during prime time when the server is full and buildup mission when it is almost empty so couple of people cant push the front on their own. Also you might do many cool things in buildup mission, as intercepting supply convoys (trucks, ships or airplanes) or strengthen defence on the direction of probable future attack by supplying army from air.
  11. I killed 4 MiG-29 bots in A-10 once, 3 of them with gun. Their usefullness is incredible.
  12. In response to previous posts: maybe deletening AI interceptor scripts will make the mission much more lightweight and give an opportunity to make other, more interesting scripts (I want pilot rescue back!). Whhy I think interceptors must go? Easy. I absolutely agree that the frontline must be more tangible (although the definition of frontline in modern warfare is much more vague that in WWII for example) but you definitely must feel that you are flying over enemy-held territory. But I think it must be done with adding more land units, including powerful SAMs (maybe capturable SAM-sites, like comms? It would be awesome to capture a Hawk or Patriot battery or whatever we have in game). We play the role of airforce in this game, let the AI play the role of army. When we fly multiplayer we by default want to play agains other players, not bots - we can do it offline much better, without lags and low fps. We come to BF to enjoy that great challenging pvp environment where all - fighters, strikers and helis - have their role and are important, and those AI bots just make it worse, because being killed by bot make you feel dumb and actually killing a bot dont give such satisfaction like killing real player (well, for me at least).
  13. The case is probably that those changes can seriously screw with balance in general and with some pilot's attitude particularly. For example - you joined reds knowing that they have huey and mitage and they got removed in the middle of the fighting but you only fly those two modules. I would have been really angry.
  14. I was alone against 15 blues on the last weekend too, I dragged them back and forth for like 2 hours, stalling their advance on kutaisi area and made 10 kills before they got me. Then I just gone to bed, satisfied :D
  15. Honestly I like it much more without any AI interceptors, they are just an irritation and they dont actually add nothing to the pvp gameplay. They make frontline more stable and many pilots just run away towards them instead of fighting.
  16. Почему же, летают потихоньку. У меня правда волосы вылезают от ужаса когда я вижу как 2-3 ракеты не попадают по человеку который летит прямо и не маневрирует, но это же просто игровые моменты.
  17. There's nothing to say on topic before BS team will stop those internal tests and let us have some fun too. Like open alpha. Maybe I can preorder? :)
  18. Ф-15 тащит только за счет 120ок, нет их - нагиба нет. Скажите, в последнем чейнджлоге написано было чтото про то, что самолеты теперь будут переживать одиночные попадания ракет более часто, кто нибудь обратил внимание так ли это?
  19. That idea is actually quite good, I once proposed same thing. R-73 and AIM-9M was too modern even in round 8, compared with over missiles. Now they are even more OP. I really want round 8 setup without 9M and 73. We can also transfer Mirage to red and give MiG-29G to blue to even the numbers a little.
  20. I used to fly "red-only" too because I live in Russia. I was 14 old then. It is childish.
  21. That can be arranged :D
  22. It is not flying at steady speed, accelerating and decelerating constantly and also can bank to the side suddenly. But last time I tried it was like 2 months ago, so maybe they fixed it already. BTW maybe it will be cool to remove all "technical" data from chat, like connects, disconnects, crashes, even kills. I recently played "Squad" and when you kill someone there you don't know who it was or even if he is actually killed. You are able to see you K/D only when round ends. I think it's pretty realistic and also will probably remove a lot of salt from the chat.
  23. You realise that not everyone have all the modules in the dcs but still want to fly in blueflag? All those people asking for vietnam-korea-whatever are literally going to spoil my DCS experience for a couple of weeks because there is only one actually playable thing in the whole DCS which is blueflag? Heaters-only setup is OK by me, but blue must have MiG-29G and Mirage.
  24. I think IR-only setup is a huge buff to reds, so maybe it will be better to leave M2K on blue side. Also, we tried M2K with 4 magics today and they didnt work properly, just like before the last patch - you can fire only 1 missile if you are lucky. Right now its 20 reds and 2 blues on server.
  25. Honestly most of the time the number of the most capable fighters (su-27 and F-15) in the air was equal, at least in prime time. There were a lot of blue pilots who was like "Hey, I bought that new shiny F-5, I never touched the manual but I'll go and fly online, what can possibly go wrong?" Also Mirage has really low time on target, its is usually out of missiles after the first, maybe second engagement. Many A-10C pilots (like myself) are inexperienced, which is understandable, given complexity of the module. A-10A is useless attacking FARPs cause AGMs just snap on the helipads, so there is no way to lock anything except them. UH-1 and SA342 are much less capable A2G platforms that Ka-50 and A-10C sometimes is a suicide option, it just cant hide between buildings. So realistically it was not that easy to capture points even with the fighter superiority.
