  1. I made the F15 standalone purchase fairly quickly, foolishly thinking that it being a standalone it would be fully functional [cockpit etc]... I guess I was wrong. Kind of strange IMO to offer it as a standalone if it's not fully developed. So my question is, is there anywhere in the forums where the devs discuss plans to make it a full fledged simulator? It's kindof a dream as I work on these beasts, sit in the cockpit a lot, but no chance of flying anytime soon. I'm not much for just eye candy, I like to push the buttons! heh
  2. wouldn't it eliminate all of these problems if Ed just made a proper 'my docs' folder that wouldn't be altered regardless of the file folder updates?? how hard would this be to accomplish? I've never seen a game that didn't do this, until now.....
  3. Ahh..but you still can by that high-end pc...just by another game dude! :megalol: I think literally, I have over a hundred games now...i'm not rich, just started a long time ago...a game here, a game there....on sale, amazon, STEAM specials...you can do it to! Comon....go get the Orange box or somethin'.
  4. Tis' all good Sir' -Just being punchy that's all! Game on! cheers
  5. :blink:well...OUCH mr. average pilot! I guess my only-10-posting/less-knowledgeable self should just keep doing what i'm doing...reading the ED comments! Thanks Nate for explaining that better. *Less posts do not equal less knowledge*-one might come to the opposite conclusion! btw- i suspect your spelling of completly is completely wrong. lol ~sorry couldn't resist.:gun_sniper:
  6. ------------------------------------------ I'm not so sure dude- I thought I just read in here somewhere that since they implemented 1.0.2. the sound is all coded as software, to run on CPU's Core2 or something like that [if you have a dual or above CPU], therefore, that sounds to me like its now bypassing all our soundcards! :( I'd agree what's important is what's pumping out the sound, in my situation i'm blessed with the sweet sennheiser PC 350's...compliments of my wifey. :music_walkman:
  7. Does anyone know if this issue might actually be fixed in an upcoming patch, or on a to-do list or something? I hate when a game is visually flawed..ruins the immersion etc...and i don't really want to start modding this game out for a temp fix either..that leads to trouble. So for anyone that uses this workaround, can you tell us what exactly changes? I assume the cloud shadows are removed[duh], but doesn't that take some of the realism away? [think M$ FlightSim series]. Thanks to all...
  8. I totally get this too, but, before patch 1.0.2 i didn't notice this as much, it may have been there barely, but nothing like this... so, it must be some bad code that got infused from the lock-on series or something. also, does anyone know what the new sound designations [like headphones] mean exactly? i mis the sound of the cockpit functions and such, it all seems quieter now..
  9. heh, no derailing. Just...micro-discussing! Interesting stuff, the expense part of development costs expains exactly why, YEARS after the first duel cores have now been out, precious few games released even today even bother with mult-cpu support!! A shame for sure! All my 8 cores just sitting here, twiddling their thumbs, waiting to play a game that isn't even being made...perhaps when those costs come down, the games will match these overkill processors of yesteryear! The future is definately the sweet GPU's Nvidia is devoloping right now. Intel and AMD definately have a lot self-preservation tactics it needs to employ to ensure their market share!
  10. That sounds great EtherealN! i literally can't wait for that patch. And thanks for clearing that up a bit for me re: affinity. So I can assume, even though that last patch 'opened up' the other cores to 'help' with the load, it is at the sole descretion [mercy?] of the OS and not the game specifically routing it there...thus, not fully implemented multi-tasking the load. [but still helps right?] I think I get it now.:smilewink:
  11. So...Sobek I guess that response confused me, (It isn't, but now currently it is?) -when he asked the question, it was 4/9/2010, which is after the patch right? So if the patch sets the affinity to all cores [assuming 'Vista' means also Win7' in regards to patch notes] wouldnt and isnt that effectively turning it into a multi-threaded game? Aren't they one and the same? In a nut shell: "Isn't that what I just said?" and therefore, why are you saying it's not multi-threaded? -confused :lookaround:
  12. Yeah welcome Pedro, I myself am very new..(this my 4th post?) and echo some of your sentiments. Do play with the graphics settings, and make sure your mirrors are off, your 'cockpit' resolution @ 512 [really the shkval TV and ABRIS screens-not cockpit]...and you will see better FPS. Also-check your specific vid card settings to see if there is anything in there that is messing you up. Experiment with Vsync on and off, if I see any tearing at all i usually put it back on. See if there are any other recommended settings elsewhere on ATI's forums specific to this game for your card. -As an counter-question to manne above, I thought with the latest patch 1.0.1c? They did incorporate support for multi-CPU threading?? [From Patch notes:] "* Vista users using multi-core systems will now have affinity automatically set to use all cores." -So Ed, is this only for Vista? What about XP/Win7 ? When I look at my task manager after playing, out of 8 cores I see one wavering around 50%, another between 10%-20%, and the rest just making slight wiggles at the bottom. If memory serves, i'll check again tonight to confirm...
  13. I just wanted to THANK the person that figured this out- This was a hard issue to find in the forums, and it was exactly what the problem was. Every time I trimmed- it would immediately pull to the right and was driving me crazy! Now it is perfectly functional and now that it works, I can fly this beast like it was my ol' 79 Cutlass Supreme! Now the fun begins!
  14. I'm with ED on that one, these guys seem pretty smart with looking forward to the future of their products and they seem to have a game plan. I'm sure they have enough forethought and programming prowness to make sure they can simply 'drag and drop' the vehicles from one engine to another, with minor tweaking. I hope so, because graphics are a big deal to me. I have Falcon 4.0 Allied Forces but didn't really get into it [time being a big issue] but this Black Shark has pulled me in where it didn't due to the amazingly detailed and interesting heli it models. The first time I saw the 6 degrees of movement AROUND objects in the cockpit I was amazed, and begged the wife get me TrackIR5 for X-mas! heh I've always wanted a sim that was hardcore[pushing every switch] yet didn't neglect the rest of the atmosphere. The sunrise clouds are a good example, until I went on the Courier mission, and was wow'd by textures of fog/clouds moving past the windshield in zero visibility! Well done ED.
  15. Hi everyone-my first post. anyways- There seems to be some misunderstandings here about what Alchemy is, and used for. Creative's Alchemy "allows SB X-Fi owners to run their favorite DirectSound3D games on Windows Vista/win7and experience them as the developers intended - with full hardware accelerated 3D Audio and EAX support. This is achieved by translating DirectSound3D calls into OpenAL calls." It is NOT needed, and should be turned off/uninstalled in XP! Those that state they are not getting EAX without it haven't got their software/driver settings straight. I know it's a pain, but Alchemy is not exactly a 'feature' that it seems is assumed above. check out the creative forums to see the probs people have with the non-64-bit/win7/vista Alchemy app.. The only bug in the short time i've played [so far] was the engine sound in cockpit, even when the door is closed. When Auto-start is initiated [and door is automatically closed] it still remains loud so not sure if that is really the issue. Perhaps RE-opening and closing might do it, haven't tried. What I noticed that fixed it was going to an external view of the heli, then back to cockpit-voila- a nicer, more muffled sound for the ears...hope this is fixed in the next patch?!?!?:( [along with the laser issue posted elsewhere] GL btw-here's a good link for more info re: Alchemy -http://forums.creative.com/t5/Windows-Vista/ALchemy-FAQ-DirectSound3D-games-in-Vista/m-p/358817
