Hello, There appears to be a modeling bug at the front hinge point for the speed brakes. When opened, you can see through the wing, which I don't believe is correct. I've uploaded an image illustrating the issue.

Fox-2's not giving LA or tone unless in longitude scan.

I just tried the Caucasus track where I could not get LA prior to the patch and I am now able to get LA. It does look like there may have been a fix in the patch from today. Hopefully everyone's results are the same! This was really frustrating, so hopefully it's now corrected. -

Okay, now it's back to its old antics of not giving LA @okopanja I wasn't able to check your track because I don't have the Su-27 FC3 module. I attached a very short MiG-29 Caucasus track where I can't get LA except in longitudinal mode. I tried many different combinations of weather presets and the result is always the same...no LA. Please let me know if your result is the same. MIG29_NOLA_R60_CAUCASUS.trk -

I wasn't saying it isn't an issue. I believe people are having this issue because it impacted me for some time. I was trying to help by isolating the issue and offering feedback, but I am no longer able to replicate it. It is a frustrating issue. Good luck, I will step out and allow you to continue investigating it. -
I generally agree with what you are saying, but a great deal of what ED needs to implement with the F-35 has to be assumed because it is, in fact, classified. The intricacies of Russian versus American classified rules aren't the question here because that information isn't being utilized in either case. What's the difference between making assumptions about Russian classified systems and Western classified systems as long as you're able to prove you haven't obtained and utilized controlled access information? I personally think the F-35 is the most boring module choice imaginable...fly-by-wire, very low-observability, staring at multiple small screens represented on your screen, and a nothing but guided stand-off weapons to watch on those small screens is just boring to me That said, I would much rather have a MiG-29K or MiG-35 if we are going down the assumed performance and characteristics route...but I'm probably preaching to the choir in this sub-forum

I have been unable to replicate this since, so maybe the issue was between the computer and the chair. I've been consistently getting LA in all weather settings and with fog. It's odd, since I've been flying the MiG-29 for years and years, so I immediately knew something wasn't functioning right. It seems almost like an IFF thing, but the only other aircraft in my mission was hostile. Not sure...maybe it will pop up again, but for now this is no longer impacting me. -

Was able to achieve LA with IR missiles by changing my weather template from one of the Broken templates to an Overcast template. Seems to have something to do with the weather setting. Fog on/off doesn't seem to directly impact it. I will continue to try other variations tomorrow and see if I can spot a common pattern. -

A good suggestion, but I don't think it's the fog. I just tried a simple mission with fog on, auto, and off and the result was the same. No LA with IR equipped missiles except via launch override or longitudinal scan. Seems like a bug that was just introduced with the recent update. -

I've had the same issue but haven't dug too far into it. Something has definitely changed. I can't get launch authorization with an R-60, R-73 or R-27T via a STT or other sensors (bore, vertical scan, etc). Longitudinal mode gives me a tone and an LA indication. I will try to investigate some more, but something does seem amiss. -
MiG-29's BFM characteristics / doubts
sleestak replied to Top Jockey's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
ED made some unannounced changes to the flight model a few months ago. Someone determined this by comparing the .lua files from before and after the patch. Other changes may have creeped in since then, but I agree that the plane is flying nicely right now. -MiG-29A flap drag increased by about 40%, gear drag reduced by about 7%, flight model modified: https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/1e11lhn/bonus_patch_notes_for_2965_changes_made_that/ -
Attached is a quick clip of an admittedly sloppy BVR engagement where my R-27ER appears to go active on the opposing F-15E. My radar dropped lock after maneuvering to avoid the AIM-120C headed my way. You can watch the R-27ER go dumb, and then appear to reacquire the F-15E and start to lead the target like it has an active seeker and ultimately impact the target (my basic understanding of HOJ is that it would be a pure pursuit intercept and simply fly directly at the emitting source which doesn't appear to be the case here as you can see the missile successfully fly an intercept course on the target). Ultimately, it looks like my R-27ER went active on the target, even though it should have been trashed after my lock dropped. I fly this simple BVR scenario frequently and this is the first time I've seen this behavior, just updated to 2.8.8.43489 OB FYI. 230816_r27er_active.trk

solved MiG-29S/SPO-15 - No RWR audio for missle launch
sleestak replied to sleestak's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
Repair appears to have resolved the issue. Recently imaged to a new M.2 NVME drive so perhaps something went amiss there. -
SPO-15 in the MiG-29S (possibly other FC3 modules using SPO-15) is not producing an audible signal upon detection of missile launch/seeker active. SPO-15 shows the flashing red missile seeker visual, but no longer produces the audible missile signal despite the volume being on. Tried with AIM-54, R-27ER, AIM-7, and AIM-120 with same result. Same result in both single threaded exe and multi threaded exe. Have only tried with A2A missles, haven't tried with SAMs yet. Attached two quick tracks from a testing configuration I set up. r27er_nosposig1.trk aim54_nosposig.trk

Does anyone know if the drogue chute cap normally closes on the MiG-29 in real life after the chute is dropped? One thing that bothers me is the current model instantaneously closes the drogue chute cap after cutting off the chute. I'm pretty sure this isn't accurate behavior and is a "minor bug" with the model. For example, this video of a Polish MiG-29 shows the cap still open after landing and dropping the chute (go to 10:52):

Your radar is in track-while-scan (TWS) mode. Check out page 52 of the DCS MiG-29 manual. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/MiG-29_flight_manual_en/
