  1. That radar dome is actually Norways first civilian radardome (also housing its first radar). Originally it was at Fornebu (Oslo) airport until 1993 (installed in the 60's). The control tower is the old control tower at Namsos airport, Norways first short runway airport as such the tower itself was fairly small. The garage underneath is for equipment which is in place at small airports around Norway. It's all right next to Norway's aviation museum (a part of the civilian side of it) and although you can't enter those at any given time, they are open now and then under some occasions. Bodø had for a time a Norwegian adapted HAWK system (based on MIM-23B), they only lasted 9 years (1986-1995) when they where replaced by NASAMS. Norway didnt have missile based air defence at air stations until the mid 80's.
  2. I have been eyeing this for some time. But didnt order one and now it's as you say a wait until october. The price was about 325 or 350 Euros excluding shipping, and afaik no VAT (eu tax).
  3. I watched that video, and it seems some of the older footage is more akin to a "promotional video" to when Norway got the F-16 than an actual impression of what it was going to be used as for us. The underlying commentary also points me in that direction. Afaik, most of the (surviving) Norwegian F-16 are of Block 10 and 15 with MLU and M tape upgrades. Also of interest is the intention off the Norwegian requirements. The principal use of Norwegian fighter jet force (in the cold war) was to punch a hole in Soviet defences so heavy bombers could do their thing with nuclear weapons or strategic bombing in case of an attack. And in peacetime it was (and still is) used as part of NATO's QRA.
  4. The i9 runs the same socket LGA1151, tbh would rather go for the AMD one. For most games the i5 (intel) or 5 (amd) series seems to be the best bang for buck with only a slight increase in the i7 and 7 series for some games. Afaik not that many games benefit from more threads which is what you get with the i9/9 series (and i7/7)
