  1. Please see the attached track. Thanks for looking into this! server-20240523-213806.trk
  2. Forgive me if I'm incorrect but aren't your last 2 pics E-2's (clipped wings)? I don't remember regular E's having anything but fully pointed wings wings. Maybe this is a field mod?
  3. I tested sustained turns with a buddy of mine yesterday at several loadouts: Clean F-4E, 50% fuel vs clean F-5E at 50% fuel. Clean F-4E, 50% fuel vs clean MiG-21 at 50% fuel F-4E with 4xAIM-7E-2, 72% fuel (to match plots in TO -1) vs F-5E with 2xAIM-9J and 50% fuel (also to match -1) F-4E with 2xAIM-7E-2 and 4xAIM-9J, 50% fuel vs F-5E with 2xAIM-9J and 50% fuel F-4E with 2xAIM-7E-2 and 4xAIM-9J, 50% fuel vs MiG-21 with 2xR-3S and 50% fuel. At SL, the F-4E had a better sustained turn than all of these other loadouts. The most difficult for me was the last one where the F-4 is carrying quite the payload and the MiG can keep up sometimes due to its inaccurate low speed sustained G's. As others have predicted here, the Phantom is not as good in the instantaneous turn and suffers if either plane goes into a rolling scissors. Still, the F-4E can fly at very low speeds with more control than the hard wing must have so you could maybe get cheeky if you're real good.
  4. It's obvious that Heatblur went the extra mile to get multicrew working better than ever before. The active re-syncing is a welcome feature and clearly lessons learned from the F-14 made their way to the F-4E. Amazing work! That said, when my buddy tried to join my aircraft in my own private training server, he got a prompt like in the F-14 that he had to wait for approval from me as the pilot. However, I saw nothing on my screen - no prompt, no chat message, nothing. We have a workaround though. He had to choice the to wait for his message to disappear or to click "FLY" which would force him into my aircraft. This may be an issue online though, where someone who you do not want joining your aircraft can force themselves into your jet. I'll attach a track when I get home if needed.
  5. Amazing!! I had to tune my FFB settings a bit but now it really feels like a real plane - reacting to inputs and oscillations. All I've done was test some turns and landing and I have to see it really matches known data and just feels so immersive. Worth the wait and I haven't even fired a missile yet. Amazing work, HB! 6. Jettison the pylons - what a perfect interim workaround! Can't wait to fly tomorrow.
  7. Thanks Lance. I suppose its not too much extra drag and weight anyway so probably won't be too impactful in the meantime.
  8. I noticed that the 370 gallon tanks, when jettisoned in the videos, leaves the pylon attached to the wing. My understanding was that the pylon was a part of the tank itself and therefore should be jettisoned with the tank: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/108453-f-4-phantom-370-gallon-drop-tanks/&do=findComment&comment=943891 Am I incorrect? Other than that, I'm absolutely gawking over all the detail to everything - good job, Heatblur!
  9. There was an F-4D on loan at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum near Albany, NY. It was a surprise to see it there and my first time getting close enough to touch one. We also visited the last F-4E ever built which is currently sitting pristine in the Air Park in Hamamatsu, Japan. This was the first time I'd seen an F-4E in person. That whole museum was a great experience.
  10. To my knowledge, the latest F-4E's that fought in Vietnam only ever had the APR-36/37. I'd be glad to be proven wrong though. And correct me if I didn't understand the original question but the ALE-40 adds chaff and flare dispensers to the F-4E. Before then, no Air Force F-4 could dispense chaff or flares other than the big dedicated chaff bombing pods.
  11. While I mostly agree, judging people with an air of superiority and lack of empathy is the real reason why we can't have nice things. I'm willing to bet if someone dug deep enough, they'd find something you're not so secure about - which is a normal human thing. It might be better to aid a discussion with encouragement and professional explanation rather than shame. Adults are all basically big kids who need therapy and blast it out online (myself included). Our community is tiny enough. Can we at least pretend to get along?
  12. Possibly next to the ALQ-119 which could suppress the tracking radar of the ZSU AAA, allowing the Kurnass crews to fly low more often. They could avoid SA-6 locks with less fear of being sniped by AAA. My gut feeling is these were only available in tiny numbers in the last few jets that arrived during Rivet Haste.
  13. Do you have or fly the F-5? Ever fly it on ECW or similar and have a blast? The F-4's radar is like that but way better. Also, Sparrows which, if DCS missile failure rates were more realistic, would still fail like (wild guess) ~15% of the time anyway. I think folks would benefit from looking at the F-4 and adjusting the mindset such that they don't look at it like it's a very old version of a 4th gen fighter and more like it's a Korean War plane on steroids. We are able to change our perspective for WW2 planes as entirely separate and discrete. Korean War jets too. It's time for this era of jets to have their own category. Imagine jousting an Su-27 in an F-15 and having 2 of your AIM-7M's fail. You're now in a lot of danger because you have to assume their missile did not fail. If the same happened in the F-4 vs a MiG-21, it's frustrating, but generally you're in a lot less danger. Yes, you can do a lot less than in a Hornet but there's also generally a lot less to do vs the enemies of the era. I do agree though, as someone who can mostly only fly alone, I hope Jester will be capable of handling the new controls on his own sufficiently to make the experience in MP fun.
  14. There is: Furthermore, the MiG-21 is performing too well at low speeds - it sustains the same turn rate at very low speeds which is why if you rate fight one clean in an F-5E, the MiG-21 will actually beat you: Hopefully these both get addressed at some point.
  15. In regards to the F-5E, the conclusion, like usual, it isn't that simple. Instantaneous turn rate is a bit better for the F-5E, but I believe in DCS, it underperforms there due to its inability to reach the ~40 deg. AoA it should be capable of reaching. In terms of sustained rate, the slatted F-4E has the slight edge but I can see that going away with a full missile load. See real data/data calculated from real manuals here: In a clean, DACT environment with just guns, the F-4E will be superior in the 2 circle/rate fight. However... as always, there many other ways to win a fight.
  16. For me it was a surprise. No e-mails or other notifications.
  17. Please see the attached log. I'm getting this "Protocol Stream Error" regularly when joining some servers (particularly DDCS but sometimes even the dogfight servers). It doesn't happen every time. Could it be a page file issue? It's currently set on auto. CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz (12 CPUs) with 32.768 GB RAM GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti with 27.457 GB total memory EDIT: After trying to join the DDCS server again today, I noticed that this stream error tends to happen when I scroll down the roster list. Sometimes it happens after I've joined an aircraft but it happens most consistently with the scrolling. If I try rejoining then I get the same error immediately after connecting. After these events, my fxo folder fills with files and deleting them all allows me to rejoin the server successfully. Of course the error returns when I scroll. dcs.log dcs.log-20240331-020318.zip
  18. Gotta use that engineering degree somehow!
  19. Received just today! Canada
  20. If anyone's curious, this is what it would look like. Note the brick on top of the radar repeater display with the little sight camera.
  21. I'm willing to bet you can get it printed and bound for a relatively cheap price at a shop somewhere. That's what I definitely did not do with the books I found online when I was in college
  22. I've been cooking since Jan25, 2022
  23. I'm in the same position right now. That's why I hope i'll really like the FFB2 on my desktop. I only hope the future will include home ownership for that man cave
  24. Sounds convincing! It will be a consideration for the future, for sure. I looked this up as well and hope to make this a future project in a man cave or something. The FFSB stick in combination with the F-4 might just launch the next stage to this addiction. Dammit now why did you have to put that out into the universe, now I'm seriously considering it... Come to think of it, my membership to the gliding club was far more expensive than a Rhino FFB kit.
  25. May I ask why you have many? Do they break often? Yea the deadzone thing might be tough, but I still have my VKB with which to switch back and forth. Maybe one day there will be a good FFB stick or a kit that won't break the bank.
