  1. I contacted HiRev Sims over a year ago about the possibility of buying some F-15E handles that would go onto the TM Cougar. My intent was to wire them for full compatiablility with the stock TM Cougar. The response I received surprised me. HiRev Sims told me they were burned by the flight sim community some time ago and their board of directors would probably never allow anything to be sold to the community again. I don't know the details of what they're talking about and didn't ask - it was clear they didn't want my business. The response went on to say that they had destroyed the molds of the handles and no longer use the TM Cougar as the basis of their HOTAS solutions. It concluded with a statement that there are many talented hobbyists who may be able to do what I was looking for. Disappointing to say the least. I am still amazed that they won't make something AFTER they've been paid for it (which I was willing to do). I don't see how they can be burned under that arrangement, but again, I don't know the details of what happened in the past. Anyways, it was clear to me that the ill feelings ran deep at HiRevSims... 2. Performance Enhancements I just upgraded from P4 2.8G w/ 1G w/ Nvidia TI-4800SE to P4 3.4G w/ 2G w/ ATI X800XL. I used to have LOMAC on mostly meduim graphics settings. Now, with Loman 5, I have all maxed out except water, which is medium. Exhaust effect is unchecked. I have my precache set to Land = 220,000 and Objects = 22,000. After I installed the upgrades, I ran LOMAC and my wife said: "Look at all the trees!" - which was what I was thinking, but I was impressed she noticed. I didn't think she paid that much attention. Anyway, whole new sim now. I haven't had time to fly SU-25T low over a city yet, but I'm happy for now. Very few pop-ups (I have to look for them) and smooth framerates. I haven't pushed the graphic settings, so it may work with everyhting maxed out, but I slowly added stuff to see if I noticed a slow down on the system. Now, If I can get some more time between night/weekend classes, I'll add some more of the high-res skins, etc to see what they do... I credit the graphics card first, then it is a toss up between the add'l memeory and the quicker processor (which has a larger cache too). By the way, I remember a lot of negative vibes on Janes WW2 Fighters when it came out since it was very taxing on systems at the time. It is still loaded on my system now, with everything maxed out and it looks great. As a matter of a fact, that is why I went to ATI - my NVidia card trashed Janes WW2 Fighters after driver ver 45.23 and they never fixed it. Anyways, I'm glad to think that LOMAC will be on my hard drive a long time. Arizona
  3. Moonbeast, Do you have a TrackIR? I can not imagine trying to click on cockpit buttons using the mouse with the trackir following my head. Especially with the vector expansion. I just set mine up this weekend and I'm still getting used to it, and I think I've got it set to where I need it. The default was way to sensitive for me... It is pretty cool to track items with my head - especially helos... Arizona
  4. Interesting thread. Even got the Piancavallo ski runs. While Aviano looks good, Hahn didn't seem to capture the hill the whole base sat on. Arizona
  5. You can count me in too. A-10 accounts for 90% of my LOMAC time... Arizona
  6. Well, if westerners are paying five times more for Flaming Cliffs, then shouldn't a western jet be on the list for add-ons?
  7. How about a map of Cuba and southern Florida?
