  1. I flight mate of mine got engaged and shot down by an SA-15 while at or near 40,000 ft. This is completely outside the range of the SA-15.

We have either have the 9K330 Tor (1986) or 9K331 Tor-M1 (1991) which was introduced with the 9M331 missile, which is more likely. the 9M331 has max altitude of 10km (~32,000 ft)  and range of 16km (~10 miles). The Tor-M2E (~2007) still uses 9M331 missiles but greater tracking.

I am positive we are not using the 9M338 missile for the Tor-M2E or better variant as that has a similar envelope as the other 2 missile variants

I will try to get a track file as soon as I can, but thought I would bring this to your attention.

EDIT: I made a couple errors on the missiles. Here is some info on the 9M338 in the Tor-M2DT (2017). The 9M331 has 12 km maximum range and 6 km ceiling. The newer 9M338 can reach altitudes up to 10 km with the same range.

By "true PCVR" I presume that you mean a dedicated DP connection without any compression. DP will be better from a technical point of view but in terms of user perception the differences are likely to be negligible. As long as the headset is properly configured and the user knows what they are doing and can optimise the bitrate, video codec and other related settings (e.g. router for VD etc.).

Yes true or pure PCVR is a DP connection which doesnt require compression. And you are right, as long as the headset is configured properly it would be negligable. Unfortunately, not all users know the full in's and out's of the Meta setup as it can be a tad finicky. I had a Quest 2 and it was "ok" but not what I wanted out of the headset. Luckily I was able to sell it for what I paid for it and bought a Pimax CL. The difference between the 2 is huge. I have had no experience with the Quest 3, so I wont comment on that.

Do you mean Q2 or G2? The context of your comment (DP Vs link compression) suggests that you mean "..get the most out of the G2". If that's what you mean then yes, you should always aim the get the most out of any headset you have before going down the upgrade route. I still have a rift s and learned so much about VR using this headset. I still go back to it occasionally to apply new knowledge and experience to see how I can get more out it.

    I mean Quest 2.

    I'm still using it.

Yes. it is still out there in the wild, but OTT has closed their website and there is no support. I guess saying it doesnt exist was the wrong word. On the internet, everything still exists somewhere.

  4. I Meta headset uses compression for PC gaming, whether using link cable or air link. What happens in the software compresses the video to pass to the headset that decompresses it to display. This causes issues and will never be as good as a true PCVR headset. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube that can show you how to get the most out of the Q2. There is one app that doesnt exist anymore and that is Occulus Tray Tool.

Just now in single player, after 15 minutes of playing the Afghanistan map, it's just a flipbook. The CPU cores are around 80 degrees. The multiplayer servers should downgrade so that we can play again with the stable version 2.9.15.9599.1 - May 5, 2025.

Each owner of the server would have to be the ones to make that decision, not ED. As for cores around 80c will depend on a number of things. What is your CPU? What is your idle (pre-DCS launch) temps, your temps in menu. Are you air cooled, AIO, custom water? Depening on some of those factors will determine your temps. Also, what is a temp of another DX11/12 game that you have that will push your system/graphics?

Can i just confirm both the Bin and Bin MT folders are still required.

The reason i ask is that i noticed DLSS files in both, i was running DLSS setting K but after the recent update its gone back to the inferior C.

I was about to add K back into the folder when i noticed both the Bin and Bin MT have DLSS files in them.

Everytime you patch DCS, you need to replace those DLSS files again as they will be overwritten.

  7. Was going great up until the 19GB mark of the download and then it fell off a cliff getting between .4 and 2.0 MBps. Same thing with the last patch as well at a certain point. Everyone is my group is complaining of the same thing, so it is not our internet as we are all in different locations.

  8. I run a 4080 Super and am not experiencing ghosting or jitter. 9800X3D + 64GB DDR56000. You could post screenshots of your ingame settings plus your PIMAX settings and then we could get a better idea of where the issue might be coming from
