Mission 8 JTAC doesn't respond
CageyLobster replied to JethroTundra's topic in F/A-18C The Serpent's Head 2 Campaign
So I ran the repair tool, and ran the mission and everything is fine. But, the repair tool didn't need to fix anything. I am so confused. I am so sorry I wasted your time with this. Just, fyi if your are interested, or if anyone else has this issue in the future. I had a problem with the mission initially and came here and read the solutions and re-flew the mission 2 more times with the SC version at angels 15k and 20k. Ford makes the comment at roughly 25nm away he should contact Axeman and fence in. I was waiting until closer to 15NM to contact him. Theoretically could that put me outside the trigger? Making the call to Axeman outside of 20NM, but within 25NM at 20k got a response and everything fired as it should. Again, I am sorry for wasting your time. These campaigns are amazing, and a lot of fun to revisit and really well paced to learn the -18, or relearn it, lol. I am looking forward to your future stuff. -
Mission 8 JTAC doesn't respond

I was curious if anyone has run into any issues recently with Axeman in Mission 8 "Snake trap"? I'm on MT 2.9.1.48111, and am playing through the Super Carrier version and have tried this mission now a couple times. Axeman will never respond, even when flying directly overhead. If I drop the -83 on a building or vehicle, I do get audio triggers kicking off, and I usually get a successful strike notification, and clearance to refuel with Texaco. But I never get Axeman to lase any of the targets. He pops smoke at one point and talks about vehicles coming up the hill, but I never see anything. I also tried the non Super Carrier version and Axeman will respond at 15k from 20'ish miles out. However after he goes through the 9-line I never get an option to have him lase any targets in the communications window. However, once again you can destroy some targets and get cleared to Texaco. I am unsure if it's a new bug introduced or if I am missing something. -
Wow, this is really amazing.

FC3 aircraft unable to communicate with JTAC
CageyLobster replied to Pineapple's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
Clickable cockpit's not being mentioned could be an issue truthfully. But, not having working radios in a game where everyone tells you to disable easy coms so a majority of other things to function within the game correctly is an issue. I'm not going to argue with you, but you know how ridiculous you sound comparing the two in this situation. We both know what your doing. -

No where on the store page does it mention that FC3 modules communication menu doesn't work in the same capacity as a non FC3 module. Should the consumer need to read the forums first to know the limitations of an item, or expect that to be displayed at the point of sale? I don't care either way. But, a lot of limitations could be communicated better in my opinion, and would save a lot of people having to even address it over and over. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/dcs_flaming_cliffs_3/ -
@Brodey54 Here is a track of me refueling from a KC-130. I am unfortunately unable to duplicate the same issue as you are having, on my system. I am not a troubleshooter within DCS. I am just leaving this here to see if it may help solve your issue. Also, please be gentle with the critiques, lol KC-130_F18_plug.trk

unfortunately not for beginners

I can't sit due to a physical disability for long. So if I have a chance to play and I just want to explore sometimes I turn on those options so I can work on airmanship skills while also enjoying a more vibrant WW2 experience. I am arguing with you for the ability to physically play your campaigns again. But, you said no. You ego and the integrity of this video game experience is so important I can no longer play the campaigns I bought. Im done arguing with you about this. I paid for them, I used to be able to play them and I thoroughly enjoyed them. But now I can't and when I ask for a reason sighting my own real world limitations you want to use the integrity of the campaign as an excuse. I'm in physical pain every time I decide to sit in the sim pit. I used to think it was worth it to fly in the world you created. Your unwillingness to compromise and see this for what it is, well that's the problem Reflected ... Not that someone might see a flak gun on the map. -

Its easy to be the silent majority when you have no stake in the game -

It was a miss-post. I apologize. I don't know how this got here. -

It would be different if you bought that BMW and then years later they made you pay for it. Also, why does ED have an option to chose your own difficulty, but Reflected went in and coded it out. If the option wasn't available in the base game to play with the option I like, I wouldn't complain. But ED made a chack box to allow me to chose how to play. Reflected went in and coded that out in his stuff. Thats fine, but why do it years after some of these campaigns have been out. I would think he would want to inform consumers that this is how he expects you to play it. Thats also fine. But, I had previously bought those campaigns with the assumption I would have control over those options and I do not. Why cant I be in control over my own options? Why does this community insist on everyone playing the game in the way they feel it needs to be played? I just don't understand the need for the options to be deselected as much as they are selected. If you don't like playing any other way than what Reflected has intended you don't need to change anything. But, why would I need to play like you? You are absolutely right, I am frustrated. I bought campaigns from reflected and at the time had the ability to select options as a saw fit. It was later on and without warning he changed it. Yeah, I would appreciate being able to play the campaigns I bought the way I want. 8.3k posts since 2016 and you're the silent majority? -

Reflected, you aren't going to win this argument. Its a selfish reason for you to make this decision. DCS in general has some huge flaws in AI and all sorts of other buggy systems that can make those options the difference between me purchasing your products and me not. I have never asked you to come over and fly a single player campaign at my house. So, I don't understand why you insist on me flying the way you want to fly. Do you think I can't figure out the options? Do you think your experience is any better with me having to suffer through it the way you want. I can do all the things you think Im not by using these options. the fact is I select those options depending on my play time, my pain from disabilities, and any number of other reasons I shouldn't have to go into detail explaining to you. Often in your missions I turn on invul or unlimited fuel because I do want to work on just dead reckoning, or by the numbers bombing, but the vanilla experience in DCS is severely lacking so I would fly your missions to bring some life to that bit I wanted to practice. You took that ability away from me. But, this is your bed, and I respect it, but not with my wallet I won't Any time a product takes options away from the consumer that are available already, is not consumer friendly approach. In this regard we can agree to disagree. also, its a video game when you are trying to get high and mighty about flying -

Unfortunately, this is a decision Reflected made to make his campaigns more interesting and engaging for ... I suppose, himself. Because it immediately turned me off from his campaigns and I bought WW2 modules to fly his campaigns. I already had a discussion about it with him elsewhere. Basically it boiled down to me understanding not to buy his campaigns anymore. He needs to at least make some form of notification when you buy it that you don't have control over those options even though ED has a check box to override the settings. Yup, super frustrating. If I wanted to play it that way, I know how to check boxes, thank you kindly. -
@ChillNG That was absolutely my issue. The great news is I am bound to get shot down a lot. So, theoretically I should get a lot of practice with proper start-up and UFC procedures, lol. YGBSM! DCS: F-16C Viper Manual Dated: 11 July 2023 Pg. 195 When talking about the function of the rocker switch when the UFC is accessed by pressing the COM 1 or COM 2 override buttons. * Cycles the Preset Channel Number data field to the next/previous preset radio channel for editing the assigned frequency of that preset; the radio will not be tuned to that preset channel or frequency. One would hope I learned a valuable lesson about reading more and talking less. Hopefully, my learning experience helps someone else that forgets this gem.

Thanks for the quick response @ChillNG I've been pretty excited for this campaign. I double checked my settings just to be sure. No easy comm. My F-16 UHF/VHF are individually bound and not suffering any conflicts that are evident. When I apply battery power I can contact ground for clearance to start and I get a response from ground that I am cleared to start. I crank and get notified that my "engine is online" I get notified to turn on avionics systems and when ready set the VHF to comm 2/ chnnl 7 to prepare for radio check. I thought I may be rushing it and not being patient. (I tend to do that) So this morning I ran it again and waited until 10:01Z and that is passed takeoff time. So I stopped this attempt and restarted with the goal of making it short to get a track, so I started the sortie over at this point. At this point on my second attempt after my initial conversation with ground no other F10 option ever populates on either UHF/VHF radios to communicate taxi with ground or a radio check with lead. I have the back-up radio in preset mode and use the rocker in comm 2 to select channel 7. No communications happen. But when I turn the back-up radio to manual and use the ufc to manually input 141.50 I immediately get a radio check callout. P.S. I am so rusty in the -16. don't tell anyone, but this may just be switch-ology or order of operations I'm messing up. I'm including this track. this is me down and dirty with no checklists, just trying to get a track and test. So it is possible Im making the issue happen by missing a step. Or it could just be the new radio logic. I am neither smart nor smart. Edit: clarification that actually didn't clarify anything. Comm progression.trk
