  1. The only mods I have came from a Squadron I joined, and are in use by dozens of others, not to mention I installed those PRIOR to this attempt where I spawned cold and dark, but a few hundred feet in the air, but I experienced the exact same thing before installing them, and right after doing a repair. Oh, and a few squadron liveries, but these problems pre-date those mods. Well, the spawn in mid-air one, I haven't had a "hung process" one since the change suggested above, but I also have only used it a few times. I had surgery yesterday and wanted to fly, but I was drugged up LOL...
  2. OK, well... Good news, maybe, and definitely bad news. The good news is that I haven't had it crash when generating a fast mission yet, BUT I've only done so a few times with simple parameters (meaning, no enemies, just for flight practice). Here's the bad news, and this is NOT the first time it's behaved this way: After asking for a mission starting from the ramp, it started me up in the air, though not by much, a few hundred feet at most, but I immediately fell out of the sky and blew up! Which is logical, a plane that's off when dropped from a height doesn't fly very well! I immediately shut the sim down, and here is the log file. dcs.log
  3. Ah, OK, now I'm catching on. I made the change, we'll see if it helps.
  4. If I disable those devices, I can't use the sim in the first place. Though I've seen those kinds of messages pop up on my screen, with some regularity, indeed I've seen it on other's screens on YT vids, and while I have been wondering why they appear, despite what they say, my devices do NOT act as though they've been disconnected even for a moment. Am I misunderstanding something?
  5. Here's the log file, as for saving the .miz, well I'll have to try next time it happens, however... I thought I tried saving and/or editing it, and wasn't able to, but I know NOTHING about the mission editor, aside from parking one lone plane at an empty airfield for some joyriding. Thanks for the assist! dcs.log
  6. Like the subject says, I am running into issues with generating a "Fast Mission", only to spawn in, and for reasons that aren't really clear, the plane I'm trying to spawn into blows up. If I retry the same mission, same deal, but it doesn't happen every time I regen a new mission. My install is virgin save the headtracker.dll file generated by Tobii Game Hub, and I've done a "repair", with nothing notable. I've also had similar issues, only instead of spawn-die, it goes "attempt to spawn- DCS hangs", which seems more likely the more enemy's requested, though that's not a thorough root cause analysis and may be coincidental. I'm also not at all sure these problems are related. Thanks in advance for any assistance... Kev
  7. Perfect answer, and makes my decision easy. I thought they would just be extra mouse buttons, which seemed completely useless to me, but knowing they're programmable is a whole different game, especially since I've been struggling with a few controls I want on my HOTAS but just don't have a free spot for, and I've got an x56. I'm also disabled and mostly bed bound, which means I have my stick mounted on a side table to my right, my throttle on a desk to my left, and usually leave my mouse on my chest/belly, where sometimes it tries to hide from me when I need it FAST!! Thank you!
  8. P5 is what happens if you hit the fwd(?, the one for "flares") button on the dispenser, which for me is a totally different button because I don't have the 3-way switch. If that's not right, it's the opposite. Aft will get you P1, again unless I have it backwards. I have different custom setups for both, but every time they update it, they change the file so I have to remember to copy and paste it back. P6 is the slap switch I think. I think the default dumps like half your stores (or more), then again it is a switch of desperation. Because I'm a noob with total "classroom" time (meaning reading manuals and watching YouTube vids) of about 40 hours, and in the bird time about the same. Real Hornet pilots have 300 classroom hours and 300 simulator hours before they're even allowed to look at a real Hornet, and that's AFTER flight school and pinning on their wings! So, basically, I suck lol...
  9. Thanks, guys, but it's the planes I don't even know are there who are my problem. Guess I just have to keep my head on a faster swivel.
  10. I'm sold, but I need a tad bit of advice. Why would I want the advanced system over the standard? I don't mind spending the extra money if it's truly useful, but I'm not sure I understand why having an additional set of buttons on my HMD would be useful in any way, or if there's some other benefit of the advanced kit. Also, is the lead time really sitting at a year, or is that old news? Thanks, Kev
  11. I can't wait for the 40-series to hit the streets, because when that happens, I'm either going to buy a firesale 3090 for $500 or so, or pick up a brand new 4080 for the $899 that the consensus is it will be priced at. Right now I'm using a 2070 Super (paired with an i5-10600K) that both hold fairly high overclocks and I'm actually doing pretty well, mid-40s or higher on the fps almost all of the time, though I really judge based on what my eyes see, not what some benchmark is telling me. If the 4080 is as much more powerful than my 2070S as is alleged, it may be the last GPU I'll ever have to buy! (Famous last words...)
  12. I do. In fact, I have a customized .lua for programs 1, 2, and 5 that in theory anyway should be superior to the default, I just don't see those damn inbound IR missiles, and I'm not sure what I can do to fix that. Only issue with that custom file is it gets replaced with the default every time it updates.
  13. Do the auto countermeasures defend against heat seekers? And if so, how do they know they're there. I usually don't until I blow up in midair for no reason.
  14. My point is that if you achieve every mission assignment, whether you knew about them when you took off or not, but then fail to RTB alive, I do not think that giving your life for your country should result in an automatic mission failure. Of course, IRL that would mean that you will not ever be flying another mission, ever, this is not real life and to make dying an auto-fail even in consideration that all mission goals had been accomplished it too extreme. But, hey, maybe that's just me. In fact, before the SAMs started flying (and it seemed like they all went in my direction like I didn't even have a wingman), and I question if they had real life ammo loads because I did dodge quite a few of them, I was actually thinking about bugging out of my bird and hoping for a rescue as I'm as close to certain as I can be without sitting down with a sectional and calculator that I didn't have enough gas to get home, but I guess that would have also resulted in a mission failure. I tried putting it at WP59, but even if I managed to get that setup, it wouldn't go to WP59. Just 0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-0. Although I can't in any way discount that I did something wrong, as this is the first I've dealt with this.
  15. Damn, dude, you made this thing hard as f to win. I did all the atc procedures correctly for takeoff, even though I went a bit over 1,500' for a bit, and then turned to 085° like told, when released I went to WP1 at mach .75, hooked up with my wingman, figured out how to make a new waypoint for bullseye, went and found the bomber, escorted him out until he hit his burners, then despite being almost bingo, went offshore and got the intel Sentinel wanted, only to get shot down by a SAM that it seemed like shot ALL his missiles at me, though I did dodge quite a few of them, and still only scored a 50. I've gotten a 50 before when I never even took off. I think I'm just gonna take the draw and move on,, I've had enough of this mission. I'm not the kind of guy who likes having to train for it 55 times before I finally get it right. Even if the SAMs weren't there, I'm not sure I had enough go juice to get home.
