Nice promo vid! I did NOT see the transition from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to the (motley) deck crew coming. 8)

I would vote yes but only for the AC-130 Gunship. and I wouldn't want to fly it... just want the guns.

The Hornet can remove the stick and i'll admit it is handy. It's not very realistic but we can't move around like in real life.
Yes we virtually can. VR. ;)

Well our group uses Teamspeak when we 1st join the server to sort out what channels we will be using in SRS so what we are going to do instead of Moaning about this new feature we will be dropping teamspeak and testing this feature and provide feedback to ED to help bring it along.

Sounds good!
^see wot I did there?

Look at the voting results for this question... the majority are against. Let it go.

But if its BFM or spotting tiny targets on the ground, Im pretty sure VR wont do...
It does.

Sounds like you need to downgrade to a trackIr. ;)

I imagine that would be easy enough for them to do giving up a bit of “realism” on a particular map. But, then, the flood gates open... :) If we can have any temperature we want, why can’t we have ...
True. I'm sure if ED wanted, they could come up with a better fix.

Sell 3 of the monitors and go VR.:smartass:

I'm using the TM Warthog HOTAS with Oculus Rift CV1 and the A-10C almost exclusively. The controls are not an issue. Most everything is on the HOTAS, the comm menu ican be controlled byu mouse. Using the F keys is not as intuitive as I would like... but I always have my keyboard in the same place and it is easy to find F1 then move to the right and find the desired one.
To quote Wrench: "VR is frickin amazeballs" :)

Thanks for that info Ironhand.
If dropping the temp 20 degrees gets more realistic performance... then a simple work-around while we wait/hope for an ED fix, is for the mission builder to simply drop the temp. Unfortunately the lower temps are map specific... Lowest temp in Persian Gulf is +14.3c.
Perhaps if ED allowed mission builder to select cold temps in all the maps independent of the month selected?

Maybe the density altitude model is the culprit?
Habu
That thought has crossed my mind as well. Possible atmospheric modeling issue.
It is interesting to note that, if you want to explore the maximum aircraft performance (due density altitude), in DCS, the Caucasus map is by far the best map to fly.
Minimum allowable temp in mission editor:
Persian Gulf +14.3c
Nevada -1.3c
Caucasus -12.4c
I think I may have a way to possibly rule out the weapon drag issue... Will try find time to do some temp/drag testing later today.

Good tests and I like how you are approaching the topic. Keep in mind that the A-10 only operates in the way you are describing during BFM when the defender and attacker are in a spiral dive to the floor and both at steady tone but they are excellent data points. What kind of stores did you use to increase gross weight? Thanks. The only reason I flew the profile like that was to get a bunch of data points in one flight. Was surprised how quick all the altitude was spent in exchange for the speed...
To get to gross weight I loaded:
Fuel 97%
GBU-12 x4
GBU-10x2
AIM-9 x2
ALQ184
AN-AAQ-28
Chaff 240
Flares 120
1150 CM
Also had the OAT set in the mission editor at -1c and QNH 30.24
I want you to focus on G available at 300 knots (planned release speed for levels and 10 LAHD deliveries). Regardless of configuration you should have no problem holding 4-5 G's with steady tone happening in the high 4's at the end of the maneuver. If you do this at higher density altitudes, it is possible to experience what we are seeing in DCS right now, which is the inability to actually get to 4Gs before steady tone occurs.
Re the higher density altitudes, this is exactly why I like the winter conditions in DCS A-10 to get better performance, ie when I did the Airshow Flight (
) I had winter conditions to get what I thought was more realistic performance from the simulated a/c. Temps were lowered to arctic conditions. What specific altitude(s) would you like to see? Standard day wx conditions or something else?
Here is what the turn level turn looks like:
Too bad the resolution is so low. I see the escape maneuver starts at :50 sec mark

May you provide us a link about this specific topic? Thanks

I recently got a WH (and would never go back). I upgraded from an X52 (non pro), along with Saitek rudders which have been serving me fine for over a decade. I don't have the largest monitor. I immerse myself into DCS using TIR (4 even). I would probably love VR, and my PC would probably appreciate the usage it was made for. Unfortunately, I have hesitations. I wear glasses. I sweat.
The Rift CV1 was not a great fit over glasses. The Rift S fits easier over the glasses but still snug... contacts are best for use with the Rift imo.

they work for me.
Clearly you had a tape deck strapped to your leg and the rock'in soundtrack made it all work! :music_whistling:

Hi guys,
Surely someting I missed...
DAWS is intalled, it interface is visible in DCS, F10 menu is available, I can save a mission and a screen text confirmed it.
Any idea for solution?
Thanks.
DAWS is a mod?

Not that it really matters, I suppose, but your missing data point for Test #2 @ 5k is 349 IAS in case you'd like to fill in the blank.
Hi Ironhand,
Thanks for that. Fixed.

Formatting messed up in the above post...
Here is a word doc with proper formatting of the above info.

For giggles, I wanted to see the relationship (in the DCS A-10C), between weight, G loading and AoA.
I recorded 2 tracks. Test #1 was at aircraft max weight, test #2 was at minimum aircraft weight.
Both flights start at 25k. I attempted (as best I could), to maintain barber pole while in a descending spiral, and at the same time pulling to and maintaining the steady tone. (manual says the steady tone comes on within 2 angle of attack units of stall)
I accelerated while in the spiral following the barber pole and continued increasing the G loading to just shy of the chopped tone. Then I replayed the tracks pausing every 1k feet and recording the IAS, AoA and G loading. I did this at max and min weights. Here below are the results:
Test #1 @ Max Weight Test #2 @ Min Weight
Alt IAS AoA G Alt IAS AoA G
19k 330 6.7 2.7 19k 332 5.4 3.4

5k 402 9.3 5.6 5k 349 11.8 8.9
Formatting screwed up in the forum. See the post below with word doc and results in proper format.
Notes:
1. IAS was read from the cockpit steam gauge. Alt, AoA and G were read from the F2 page.
2. See the attached track files.

I am putting together what I believe is the issue. But so far putting together the track has been a little slow due to life obligations.

I hear you on the r/l obligations... glad for whatever you can do on this issue.
Interestingly some similar talk on the new F-16 module in a thread titled: "Is the viper under performing? An experiment on sustained level turns" There are some suggestions in that thread that the Viper may be suffering from an external stores drag issue... To which I reply, Wait yer flippin turn! :pilotfly:
