  1. I actually have quite a few mapping issues. it feels like every time i boot up DCS, i'm having to re-map some, or all of my peripherals. i'm not sure if its the game. i've re-installed it a bunch. or something to do with my computer. or possibly one of the background programs i run? i usually have "simapp pro" and "DCS panels" running, among other things, like voice attack if i'm flying the tomcat. and sometimes I have devices in different USB ports by accident' or something gets un-plugged during gameplay. either way, this is a thing i have to deal with almost monthly...
  2. well, if i can figure out how to calibrate this stick properly. i hopefully won't need the in-game deadzones
  3. I'm actually not sure? Is it supposed to save? It saves my inputs. Its just the deadzone that changes. and thats not just DCS, the same happens in IL-2
  4. yeah i've calibrated it several times. the problem is that the stick is very sensitive, but has such a large area of movement, that just the small bit of wobble when its centering is registered in game.. I can set in game deadzones, obviously. But its frustrating to have to set up for every game, and every module i use. especially since I have to do it over again when i swap sticks (I have a VKB F-14 stick that i use just for flying the tomcat, which is quite frequently these days)
  5. Hey! i just got this seat, I have a gunfighter with the 200mm extension. I saw someone using the monster tech table mount for theirs, but jeez... those things are REALLY expensive. Does anyone know a better alternative? I don't have access to any kind of metal-working equipment myself....
  6. Hello! so, i don't know the first thing aboutnull electronics. When its plugged in, it simply shows up as "The29" as for the PCB, i'm not sure which combo of numbers you need to identify it. its glued in place, so i don't want to flip it unless I have too. But I will if you need me too. Thanks!
  7. the grip is mostly plastic unfortunately. almost all the parts you touch are 3d printed. its very thick plastic, but plastic all the same. i love this stick. personally. but i've been having a couple issues with mine. I'm wondering if anyone else could possibly post photos of the bolt alignment between the grip and the base? i've disassembled mine, and didn't realize the calibration was so precise that it dosen't center properly now due to how i re-assembled them...
  8. His email is on his facebook page, i didn't actually contact him on there as I haven't used facebook in over a decade. He was very quick and open to responses early on. And even made the modifications i asked for free of charge (I also had the "china-hat" removed in favor of a button, to more closely mimic the MiG-21. Unfortunately, as mentioned in the original post. He was unwell. If i recall, I believe he had started to go blind. Ontop of another serious issue. He originally quoted me 6 months to get the stick built (he makes them to order) and it took me nearly a full year to get mine. He was very upfront and forward about it. and quick to reply. And he doesn't take the full payment until the stick is shipped. But he hasn't replied to a single email I've sent him asking about the software issues I'm having. And if I recall, he hadn't updated the facebook page in over a year either. If you contact him, let me know if you get a reply! I'm less concerned about the issue I'm facing, and simply hope the fella is still alive !
  9. As far as i know, there is no way to set a deadzone in the basic windows configure tool.... As for compatibility with other devices, i think this might be the single LEAST compatible stick you could ever possibly buy if you want it to work contemporary stuff on the market. Which is the main reason i bought it ! they come standard with a 16 pin connector. though i asked specifically to get a 19 pin connector with mine, so i could eventually swap the grip out for an original MiG-21 stick whenever i can track one down. (this is a modification he's done for several people in the past) so... unless you can get thrustmaster or virpil to start manufacturing KPE soviet connector adapters, i think you're out of luck And as for using it, its fantastic. the weight is unreal. I have trouble moving the thing sometimes. And all the buttons and triggers are weighty and solid. Though if you're someone who likes quick, clicky inputs, its far away from that. It has an incredible amount of travel too. you really need to put your body into using it. Which i LOVE. its completely unmatched compared to other sticks on the market, which are clearly designed to be more for gaming. This stick, though not "realistic" feeling, really does come closer than anything else i've personally used. If you've ever handled a yoke in an old model cessna, its much closer to that. It really lacks any feeling of being a peripheral. in design, use and appearance. I really adore it.
  10. Hello! I purchased "the 29" about a year ago and have had nothing but problems with it since i first got it... the main issue is the lack of any software to calibrate it. I was wondering if anyone else who owns this stick could possibly lend some help? I've contacted the seller several times. But he was fairly ill and i fear he may not be in the business anymore.
  11. Thank you both so much!! completely answered my question
  12. Hello! It's been a few years since I've flown around in DCS, and I'm having a problem finding my heading. I can't seem to find a comprehensive guide on how the NPP works when not using it for radio navigation. I'm just looking to use it as a basic compass to get my basic heading. Which ring of numbers do I use, and how to I get a magnetic heading?
  13. THANK YOU!! so MUCH!! oddly, bis is all counted as a single category while PF is split into three, but this still totally answers my initial question!! if we lump PF into a single category, there were a total of 1702, opposed to the bis with 2013 produced. this document is filled to the brim with great information, and detail about production. though it unfortunately lacks the more specific detail of the sapfir radar set. i'll still be on the look out for a copy of the repair and/or operation manual. regardless, this is a beautiful christmas gift for me!! thank you!! and merry christmas!!!
  14. Well he didn't say not to share... So okay! (Sorry if I'm getting anyone in trouble! Ahhh!! I'm just incredibly excited to see continued work on my favorite aircraft!!!) I edited this a bit, sorry. photo wasn't displaying and I decided not to post a few details. Here are specifics about the cockpit model though we intend to rework the cockpit at some point and mentioned by you switches will be a part of that. Leatherneck Simulations However circuit breakers, in a final version, will likely be covered by a transparent cover as in most MiG-21bis aiframes. Leatherneck Simulations You can see a bit of it on the attached picture. Leatherneck Simulations As such circuit breakers were not accesible by the pilot and they were not the be used in-flight. So even if animated, users will likely not be able to operate them. Sorry about the formatting, I don't use these types of forums much!
  15. Hello! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I've been looking for some general information about the MiG-21. Not just the bis, but other variants too. Is there a place I can ask general questions about the MiG-21? My first question, is about production numbers. Its quite easy to find production totals, but near impossible to find numbers on specific variants. Does anyone know what was the most widely produced variant of the MiG-21? I've heard both the bis and PF, but as some PF models (namely PFU) were later upgraded to bis, its becoming frustrating to research. Does anyone have solid production numbers? or a resource I could use to find them? Secondly, I'm very curious about the "sapfir" radar set. Its often mentioned as being alcohol cooled, but I'm curious about the specifics? Where this liquid was stored, was it cycled through the dish, or around it? Perhaps it was immersed in it? (probably not) Its oddly difficult for me to find information on this system. Also, would anyone have any english or chinese translated resources of original documentation? I'm very interested in tracking down maintenance manuals for the aircraft itself, or any of its onboard systems. I've read the CIA declassified user manual, but this does not give information regarding maintenance or general function of the aircraft. Thank you so much! Japanese sources would be fine too! on the off chance anyone has them
