I don't get ya! OP's post seems perfectly fine to me
-
If you are referring to the landing tutorial, I posted about that in another thread here. I follow it to the letter but it just leads me miles out to sea. It doesn't seem to work.

What sim tutorial? EDIT: If you are referring to the landing tutorial, I posted about that in another thread here. I follow it to the letter but it just leads me out to sea. It doesn't seem to work.

Many thanks for the replies folks. Trying to keep this on topic now. This thread is asking for a Video Tutorial on ILS landing. Can anyone help please?
-
OK, so again Is there anyone who could do us a video tutorial? Many thanks
-
Yes I did a search on google and youtube. There is an ILS approach video on youtube and this one (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60648) here. However, both are silent as in they contain no dialog; so they are ineffective as training or tutorial tools. So the quest for a good ILS video tutorial remains. Cam anyone help? Many thanks

Low Visibility ILS Approach into Kobuleti
dnme replied to warzenschwein01's topic in Screenshots and Videos
at 2:30 in, you switch something that removed the bars from the ADI. Why? -
Hi friends, it's me again asking for more help. I am reading up on ILS and am more confused than ever. On page 491 (under ILS Approach), Figure 388. ADI Displaying ILS Steering seems to be contradicting itself. Firstly the pitch steering bar is above centre which suggests to me that I am low and need to nose up. But the Glide Slope Deviation Scale and Glide Slope Indicator is below centre, which suggests to me that I am high and need to nose down. I find the explanation confusing at best regardless. Also, "4. Glide Slope Warning Flag. When displayed, this indicates that there is a problem in receives adequate glide slope signal." - What exactly is this pointing at? Would anyone be willing to do an ILS tutorial video? 1. From planning on mission map (where to set best IAF waypoint) 2. How to get ILS frequencies (I know they are in manual, but where on f10 map?) 3. How to initiate ILS comms radio 4. How to read ADI and HSI under IFR 5. Can autopilot fly ILS in this aircraft ? how? I realise all this is exaplined in the manual, but after THREE WEEKS of reading and trying and , I have still not achieved an ILS landing. Many thanks if you can help

Stuck in startup tutorial: Cannot start engines with r-alt/r-ctrl + HOME
dnme replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
OP I had the same problem albeit with x52 Pro. I could not ignite engines when using the manual's startup procedure. I did the following... 1. Uninstall controller completely 2. Restart 3. Re-install controller 4. Check controller connections especially from stick to throttle (awful loose(ish) ps2's used for the x52) 5. Load game with controller completely at default 6. Get the startup procedure video tutorial beside you on a laptop (it's now on youtube) 7. Follow it to the letter That's how I did it -
yeah! night now

Stuck in startup tutorial: Cannot start engines with r-alt/r-ctrl + HOME
dnme replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
OP Which startup tutorial are you following? The manual or the video? -
Great stuff kylania. I reckon the REDFOR guys were having a cup of tea and a sandwich as you glided in past them. Imagine their faces :)

Well thank you for taking such an interest in me, it's nice to know I'm being monitored. Your original comment was unhelpful, sarcastic and acidic, wink or no wink. Had you approached someone in a real life situation, face to face, with that comment; how do you suppose they'd react? It often helps to put ones self in the shoes of the other. On the web, we communicate without the benefit NVC. We loose tone, facial expression, body language, pace, delivery etc etc. Therefore it is up to us to treat people with extra care and respect. Yea, I react when I get annoyed or patronised. It's cos I'm human.

Is there any app out there to extract telemetry from reply / trk files? Would be super to be able to see my actual course, my actual glide slope etc overlaid on a map.
-
Many thanks nomdeplume The whole calibrating / configuring the controller, is another learning requirement of mine. Jeez where to find the time...
-
What stick are you using kylania?
-
Thanks everyone for the great replies. I think I need to sort out my x52Pro. I use it out of the box (no profile) and I am struggling to fly with any finesse whatsoever. I cant imagine holding a descent at 3-4 degrees. I just chase it up and down. Can anyone recommend a good profile for a beginner, i.e. a forgiving stick?

Yeah OK Right now I have a mission created with 7 way points. Take off, circle round and land. I find that I spend all my time trying to keep the TVV on the waypoint piper on the HUD. Constantly correcting and trimming before it's time to fly the next waypoint. I can't imagine how pilots manage to do other stuff in the cockpit such as comms, weapons etc. I know I can set autopilot when I home in on a waypoint but then I have to keep watching the hud or tad to see when I hit the current steerpoint, I then have to take over and steer / get alt right etc. It just all feels very wrong, and awkward, and edgy. I have posted another thread asking if anyone might create a vid or two showing beginners a brief intro to nav. It would be very helpful not least cos it would show us where the norms are and the right way to do stuff such as turns, monitoring, figuring out, distance, time, headings, courses etc
-
Thanks Frederf But I am now more confused. Upwind ? What is upwind? I have only come across downwind -> base -> final. Also when you say then, according to your diagram, as you turn onto base, you also turn onto final. Is there a trick guys to turning onto a heading such as a final approach? Perhaps if I placed it in line with my shoulder as opposed to 45 degrees to my shoulder?

Hi nom, Yes I know this. My point/post was about advanced searching. I have since subscribed to all the sub forums as a cure.
-
Wow! I was only asking 1. I now see after your most helpful post that there is a sticky. But it is way down at the bottom of the page below all the Beta sub forums. It's down at the bottom of the page, an area I never scroll to, also one expects sticky's to be at the top of a page. I have only just now noticed those sticky's for the first time. 2. I did search on the topic "search". You get thousands of results. That's what prompted me to post the question here in this thread. But you already knew all this - right?

OK Lets say I'm looking at an airport (visual) and I'm approaching it at 90 degrees to runway. I now want to steer into a pattern (90 degree turn to downwind leg, then base leg then final). I'm gonna do all this manually - forget steer points / way points etc Say I decide I would like to do a 3 mile downwind leg for example. How do I know when I have completed 3 miles?
