Thanks guys for your input... this was working last week.. played today and cant zoom out again.... is this an update issue??
-
Cheers, guys. Was starting to go cross eyed last night looking for that.... nothing to do with the beer i was drinking.. :) I usually modify the .lua file and seems to work ok. Not tried the method you are using CRC. Would be interested to see your config and try it out to compare.

I just finished downloading DCS 2.0, NTTR and modules. Took about 48 hours in total. My rig is in its death throws and need to rebuild my machine. I have new hardware and want to know if I can move all the game files to new PC and not have to download ~50'ish GB again. Is it just a case of copying the "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha" folder and running the updater again? Ive done a quick search and couldn't find any specific info... Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but im living on borrowed time on the old system and would hate to have to download again. Cheers guys!

There is a bit of work required to setup a "server" to run. Hosting a game on your PC that others connect to is a little easier, but again takes some work. There are two servers hosted in Australia that I am aware of mate... AEF and the one I host for The Older Gamers [TOG]. If setting up and running a dedicated server is new to you, then you have a fairly large learning curve ahead of you... but I would suggest, if your keen, jump into the Multiplayer Server Administration forum and start reading there... post questions or problems one by one and we may be able to help you get up and running.

I thought I was loosing my mind... Kinda glad its since the update and not me loosing my marbles.

I run and maintain a low usage server here in Australia. We manage to get a day or sometimes two between crashes, but having said that, we only have 2 - 6 concurrent players tops that im aware of. Ive followed some of the 'Server Lore' that's around, but none of it seems to make that much difference. The best thing that I have implemented is an Auto-Hot-Key script that fires up the server after a crash. It dosnt help though when we get a connection drop out to the master browser server. DCS.exe still running, but needs to connect to master servers again.

Learning to fly and land without AP channels on is a must. I fly 90% of the time without AP's and like Rouge Trooper says, she is an agile machine with the sluggish buttons turned off. That way, when you do loose Hydro, you can still fly.... not like the people who rely on AP to help them, and drop like a stone when they take a few rounds in the Hydro system. I only use AP when coming in to a hover and engaging targets at range.

Dedicated Server FAQ / Hosting Dedicated Server 101
Macross replied to thinkr's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
Eno, you can download and use 7zip to explore .miz files without the need of renaming them etc. After 7zip is installed you can right click on .miz file and goto 7zip context menu and open archive. A lot simpler than renaming opening and reverting name etc. http://www.7-zip.org/ 7zip is also a great general purpose archive and zip app as well. -
There are a couple of tools around to manage this sort of thing. I use Servman still on our server here in Australia, but others perfer SLMod. Both have the ability to kick high pingers and some other stuff as well like map vote/rotate etc.

How to change FOV for 3 screen now?
Macross replied to Spitfire2170's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok.. i found it. c:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Viewe\Server.lua. Change the CameraViewAngleLimits to a higher number. Default for Ka-50 was 120.00000. I change mine to 150. Example below ViewSettings["Ka-50"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {3.188000,0.390000,0.000000}, CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,150.000000}, -
How to change FOV for 3 screen now?
Macross replied to Spitfire2170's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have tried creating a autoexec.cfg file in users\Username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\ with the following line : options.graphics.CameraViewAngleLimits[KA_50] = {20.0, 160.0} This is per the instructions in the "Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\graphics_readme.txt" Unfortunatley this has no effect... just grasping at straws really... Devs.. Please help!!!! Just to clarify, pre 1.2.4 for tripple monitor Camer View angle limits to be adjusted you went to ~Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\View\view.lua and modified the following - in my example i change the KA-50 max view angle to 160 to suit my tripple monitors -- Camera view angle limits {view angle min, view angle max}. CameraViewAngleLimits = {} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_27] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_33] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25T] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MiG_29] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MIG_29K] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[F_15] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10A] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[KA_50] = {20.0, 160.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10C] = CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10A] CameraViewAngleLimits[P_51D] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[AB_212] = {20.0, 160.0} -
How to change FOV for 3 screen now?
Macross replied to Spitfire2170's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have the same issue on my tripple monitor setup. I used to edit DCSWorld\Config\View\View.lua to change the max FOV of the KA-50. without doing that, in game its like your chin is resting on the HUD with your nose pressed on the windscreen. You cant zoom back any further and makes it impossible to play. Going to edit this file now, there are no longer any options to change this, so there must be another way now. Any help greatly appreciated.... -
Mission reload when only host stays on the server
Macross replied to acino's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
SLmod and other server tools are not designed to be used on your game instance of DCS.exe. Rather they are designed to be used on a "Dedicated" machine that is running another install of the game. So you would need to have the game installed on a seperate machine that is the "Host" and then you would join from your gaming machine to play, as well as everyone else. Hope that makes sense... but SLMod is working as intended when only one player "The Host" is left in the mission... server pauses or executes a restart or map rotation based on your settings. SLMod should not be installed on your gaming machine. -
Thanks guys. I have added that and still get either SLMOD or Sevman to run but not both.... i might just scrap the install of both of them and start from scratch again.
-
I have found that i can get SLMOD or Servman working but not both at the same time. The key seems to be the servman_server.lua file in the servman3 folder. If i use the Servman version, servman works. If i use the SLMOD version, SLMOD works... but neither of them at the same time... I will compare the two and see if i can see why that is the case. I have dissabled the pause on empty setting in servman and using the SLMOD function for that. Dont know of any other settings that they share that might conflict. For me, i want players on our server to be able to swap maps, so that if the mission has ended or on a map that dosnt have slots for a vehicle they want to use, they can change. This is not possible in SLMOD unless your register as an admin. Also, MOTD is a nice feature that is helpful and missing from SLMOD. If SLMOD had these two basic functions i wouldnt bother with Servman either.
-
I just tried to get servman working with SLMOD. Downloaded the slmod with servman files and SLMOD works ok.. but still no go with servman. puzzeling.

I host the older gamers (TOG) server from my connection and can never see it in server list from inside the network. I always have to join from LAN list. Are your Internet players able to see your server remotely.....ie from server list

Wow... there is a lot of functionality there in SLMod, and a lot of hard work by the guys developing it. **EDIT** Ive installed SLMOD and seems to be working. Although when i type -reg into chat i dont get the prompt for password... searching for this now but wonder if its a 1.2.3 issue?
-
Cheers, Thanks Grimes. I will check it out. We only really need server pause when empty, and ability to vote/change missions in game. without delving into the documentation, does it have that basic fucntionality?
-
I updated our server today to 1.2.3 (TOG Dedicated server in Australia) and seems like servman is not working any longer. Has anyone had luck in updating to 1.2.3 and managed to get servman functional? If so, what did you do to get it working. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers Macross

anyone had luck with servman and 1.2.1 and subsequent updates. I noticed that the main.lua file is replaced with the smaller updates that are being pushed out. I am wondering if its ok to keep putting the old serverman main.lua back in?

Hey Dragon, I fired up the 7.3 version of your maps on our server (TheOlderGamers). I use a 4 monitor setup and have customised the view.lua file so that i can zoom out my field of view. Otherwise it looks like my nose is pressed against the HUD. In the 7.3 version of your maps it was like this was locked out or something. I was not able to zoom out reguardless of the view.lua setting. Reverting to 7.2 resolved the issue. Do you know if this is a map setting? seems to be from initial testing.
