Yes. Most likely there will be links to it both here and on discord.

Garmin GNS-530
BrianTheBrain replied to BrianTheBrain's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
We already have a way to source that data for the GPS. after i get the catalog and waypoint entering working, im gonna move onto automatically adding all the airfields, beacons, etc. into the database at runtime. -
Garmin GNS-530

yup. our target map really is NTTR. Its got all the accurate VOR stations, I think most of the ILS beacons, runways line up perfectly, etc. -
We've not made any formal announcements as it is. I think the only formal announcement will come when it actually drops. There's obviously plans I'm more privy to but don't talk about since this project isn't my love child, its scoob and loki's, so I only really parrot publicly what they've said in general chat, media, maybe some in the "questions" thread channel. As for when I work on this personally: I haven't worked on it much right now. A lot of the features we are still missing in flyable at this point on my end atleast are things that are hard to do without DCS SDK. Them two are hard at work on the AI mod right now and yup, everything is done in free time. Such is the reality of a lot of mods and even a lot of 3rd party upcoming modules. 4 years is nothing compared to the Mag3 corsair :p

Garmin GNS-530
BrianTheBrain replied to BrianTheBrain's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Yep, thats directly the next feature. Currently, it pulls from the units mission editor waypoints to autocreate waypoints (and will bind mission waypoints for stuff like start/landing to the airdrome's name, or any nonmistakingly close VORs. -
This is a Garmin GNS-530 radio/gps @Hayds_93 and I have been working on for literally no reason other than I like it and I make him work on it. Right now we have it in a stupid little general aviation sfm mod that will never see the light of day. We share these pics around the mod developers discord server, but thought it would be fun to show it off a little here. I know theres a few mods out there (probably not on this forum yet) that could definitely use a GNS-530. The eventual goal is to get this as a modular as possible so all the mod maker need is to drop the files in do a little linkage and add the 3d model. Yes i know ED's 430 exist, and I was surprised to hear they are still supporting it for the Mig29 it some capacity, but I plan for this to be a little more accurate than it. We also have AIRAC waypoints from Navigraph, unfortunately the database they provide for development isn't in any DCS map, but all the fixes youd expect to find in Central America/carribean are here there.

Not sure if its been mentioned here but on the discord we've kinda talked about it a bit publicly: we are finalizing an AI release so that we can get it out into mission maker hands

Yes! That experience was very fun. I think I had it on oculus?

Sir, its actually the SNJ-5 And about the Dauntless... while being hired would be lovely, having a contact/in with the guys at CAF would go farther. not ready to realistically tackle that yet... we (I and some non-Lancaster affiliated people) are working on something else PTO that some will take as the stupidest thing we could've chosen, or one of the coolest. Stay tuned (in other threads, not this one. sorry for hijacking this one) also wtf is with the pics ig Lanc pics are destined by the forum to not work properly.

Some cool snippets of AI testing from Loki And for those not on discord, a soft announcement: So we're going to first fully finish the external model and AI flying. That's a big milestone and there's not a lot left, that's why we're doing the damage visuals, borts, etc. It's close. Then we'll get back to the cockpit and human player stuff.

We'd like to ship with a tallboy in some way shape or form, realistically or not I think (Loki and Scoob can confirm that). If youre talking about seeing my name and bombs in a patch notes a bit ago, thats a little misleading... all i did was change some values and boilerplate stuff. I dont believe we've ran into any bomb snags yet, although its been a while since i've personally looked at anything bomber related - wrapped up in multicrew rn. And a multicrew update Still kinda in the "research and figuring out" stage of multicrew. Different parts of the systems require different styles of syncing, so been working on 'simpler' projects to test my multicrew in the future. Turrets are the focus of my research in multicrew right now... again, plz write your local DCS Forum moderator to let them know that you'd like the Lancaster to be official (i jest (no i dont)).

It was a jest about encouraging ED to take us as a 3rd party I of course know that only 3rd parties get SDK access.

Just watched this, it was great! Poor Dave is living my worst nightmare, im applying to OCS and it would kill me if i washed out of pilot training. Those Lancasters are beautiful, wish theyd have saved them all for us in the future
-
lol, when fulda comes out ill try and make a campaign where half of the missions are just rtb through normandy. that would be fun.
-
That someone is most definitely me! If we had world map, I'd definitely be ferrying freshly built Lanc III's from Canada to the war.
-
Some parts of the navigator are *technically* complete, as there are things like the E6B which require literally only animations. But there are other systems there, and the goal is to have *every* crew slot be completely playable, and fun. From first hand experience, the bombardier position is very fun gameplay wise
-
Some photos courtesy of Loki A bit of work going into turrets right now, that's the first big "multicrew" bit being fully fleshed out atm. As you can see the 3d model and textures for the turrets are still being worked on. Multicrew wise there's some DCS core issues that we are battling but I'm sure we will find workarounds (that or you can write your local DCS community moderator to get us SDK access) but I'm going full throttle on multicrew. We may have larger update for you guys soon.

Our Lanc flew at the virtual airshow with the BBMF maybe @Scoobyon has a recording somewhere? Mini dev update regarding what im doing: Finally, some significant process on multicrew. I've got some system state syncing between pilot/other position, but the Lanc in its own way is pretty daunting for a 7 player multicrew implementation. So the folks over at caffeine simulations are letting me use their rapidly progressing T38C mod as a test bed, also helps that @Hayds_93 is a fellow low life with plenty of time on his hands and a compatible time zone to mine, so thats where most of the work has been tested so far. I aim for multicrew to be as seamless in comparison to (great) mods like the C130 and Uh60 where theres some configuration in text files and port forwarding needed... so seeing how i can get around that requirement and make it as easy as an official module. Im pretty sure the DCS game host's server is the one that handles the connection for official modules... curse locked down SDK for making me circumvent ED. Thats about all i've been working on and is its own little feat. I'll leave the other updates for Lok' and Scoob who are working on that stuff should they care to comment... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all those eagerly awaiting DCS Lancaster, I look forward to DCS's WW2 future in 2025 as it seems like theres a few things cooking that could be released soon. All in good time.

I've been busy as well lately, coming up on semester finals and trying to proceed with internships elsewhere in the sim community. I've made a bit of progress on "seamless" multicrew networking but have yet to actually implement anything multicrew.
-
Yeah, playing with an AI navigator, hopefully I will be able to get it to the point where the navigator is simply vectoring you via the ME waypoints and sending intercom callouts. Toying around with AI voice transcription and generation. Human navigator, on the other hand....... Theres gonna be a lot of 1940's shenanigans going on...

DCS currently doesn't have much to fly against for night fighting, I think the Lancaster will have to fit in as day bomber for a little while.
