Comments after Mission 03 - Love it.
sepruda replied to Jack Chief's topic in F-16C Arctic Thunder Campaign
Yeah that was a really satisfying mission. Love that you have to AAR, though I was not setup for using the F10 menu and traditional radio. -
I didn't think of turning on labels, but that is of course an option. Thanks.

After having hit the first target with a GBU, I have to assist in destroying 2 technicals near a mosque. Issue is I have no idea where the mosque, the JTAC or the technicals are. I kept my eye on the C4-D4 grid when weasel 32 rifled, but never saw an explosion or any smoke. There should at least be some option to ask your wingman to do a talk-on or something, the mission wouldn't progress so I had to quit. Pretty frustrating.

Ok thanks. I will have to thrust my battery will hold then.

Hi I have the Pimax Crystal, when I open the menu and leave a game, for more than 5 minutes, my game is crashed when I come back. I'm thinking it could be with the auto shutoff of the VR display, but I don't want to leave the display on preferably.. Does anyone know of a workaround for this.

That's good advice. I actually didn't boresight, I never had much success doing that. But I'll try to do it in air as you suggest. And yes I was definitely way to close when I tried locking, but was afraid to lose the truck.

After nuking the mortar emplacement with my CBU, I'm trying to hit the technical with my Maverick. Unfortunately I really suck at mavericks, and I'm wondering what's the trick to locking a moving target up with a maverick? I can't use GMT with the mav selected, and locking the technical with my TGP, I have trouble aligning it on my maverick view before I'm out of time. At some point the truck disappeared and the mission stalled...

Oh that's too bad, but thanks for reporting!

Good to know! I wonder if the rest of the campaign is buggy too then, in that case I'll hold of until it's been fixed.

Have the same issue. Switching to H4 tower on comm1 and told to anchor. No calls and gear wouldn't deploy - had to quit and skip...

Next level racing HF8 haptic seat pad & DCS

I only use USB -
I was well into a long campaign mission, when I accidentally hit my eject button on my throttle with my knee And that was it for that flight. All other modules, you usually have to press the key 3 times rapidly to eject. Indeed using the default keyboard command also initiates ejection after one keypress. I'm on the latest version as of todays date.

I guess that's another dollar for you. I use Vaicom, but only just recently started doing that, so I mapped my PTT buttons to that. Therefore I was trying to use the communication menu (because I couldn't remember the verbal commands) I guess that's where the problem was. Thanks!
-
Hi, me again Just started this challenging night landing. When going to the tanker, I cannot hail it using built in comms and therefore not refuel. I could also not contact ATC using built in comms.

That is a good idea, I don't have any issues 1V1, only when it's coordinating against multiple enemies and having to use Jester to lock and IFF. Not really part of the Zone 5 campaign, but BVR would also fall into that category.
-
Thanks a lot for your answer! I guess what I'm after is a mix of combat tactics and how to use Jester, so lore game oriented stuff. I love authenticity, but it's probably not the best approach to learning to fight. I actually already flew most of Speed and Angels, but I guess it's time for a revisit. I didn't know you could fly the engagements individually, that is for sure something that would be very handy! Would love something similar in Zone 5, but I'll start with the 3 practice engagements.

I think I'm about 7 missions in, and I gotta say it's getting a little frustrating. I highly appreciate the attention to details and the realism, all the radio chatter sounds very authentic. But after going through the identical checklist, the identical route, just to have a 2 minute training session, and then back again. It gets kind of tedious. Even more frustrating is the feeling I get that I don't really know what's the "best" approach to an encounter, so it's not always I feel I really learned from my "others" column. And I even go through it in tacview. The talk about lectures and theory, is just talk, and so is the statements about good communication when flying with an AI. I know you said it's not meant to be a training campaign, but that is a missed chance I feel. I would have loved there to be some kind of documentation or videos showing a workable approach to each encounter. Also, while waiting for a save game feature in DCS, it would be cool.to.be able to skip to the Fights on call, to try different things. This obviously comes from a place of endless respect and gratitude for the campaigns you've put out, of which I have quite a few, and especially your post-campaign work.

Ok thanks. I thought I did try to tell them to place and remove, but I'll try again.

I'm a new VAICOM user, and loving the immersion and simplicity of it! However when flying the F14, I cant get the ground crew to remove wheel chocks, even though they confirm my order. I have to go through the options and select it manually. Also the RIO wheel is looking weird, like it's missing some of the UI, I would like to use both AIRIO and commands. Thanks

Thanks, so the debrief is the speak Bio does after the mission? That's at least all I got for the first mission. I've already flown (and watched) speed & angels, though it's been a while and my skills detoriate quickly.. Phantom campaign sounds amazing!
-
Hey It was mentioned that there would be debriefings, was that just for immersion, or is there something Im missing? I just flew the first mission 1V1, and there was a lot of talk about admin stuff, but not about ACM - is that something I'm supposed to find elsewhere? I really want to learn ACM in the F14, but I find it very hard..

Sortie 1 - instantly killed
sepruda replied to sepruda's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX Beware! Beware! Campaign
I guess I took the instructions to protect my lead to literally I'll try just looking out for myself, first time in a warbird. Really loving the spit. -
Hi, I'm new to the Spit but after much training I can taxi, takeoff, land and do formation flying. I've flown the first sortie three times, each time being shot to pieces by the FW's within 1 minute of merging. I'm flying close to my lead, as I'm supposed to protect him, but obviously I need some protection. Any tips how to survive?

I managed to do it At the end when Action 2 was being rescued, I decided to do the old iron hand thing and got a SA6 to fire about 6 SAM'S at me. That was exciting. Then just as I exited with the Mission Complete graphic, the game crashed so in the end I had to skip it. Pretty sure I was at a 100 score too Great mission.
