Sure I get that. But from what I read, this a widespread opinion on the F16 FLM. There's a 9 page post on this forum that's been closed, and plenty of posts around with that topic. But it's fine, I'll go play the other game that has less eye-candy and better fligtmodel, though I do wish I could have both.

I'm not allowed an opinion without data? Must have missed that rule. How do you propose I collect data on the flight model? There's plenty of articles and comparisons out there.

cold No I haven't. I've read a lot of posts about players adjusting the curves, but it makes the jet hard to handle in other situations like AAR and landings. There was also a long post here about the FLM. If you play other games simulating the Viper (wink wink), you'll notice a very different FLM. Being one of the most agile fighters in DCS, the Viper shouldn't feel sluggish...

Will mission 2 be able to take advantage of the new LInk-16 feature, where wingmen can help triangulate emitters with HAD?
-
Probably opening a can of worms I'm sure, but I feel the FLM of the DCS Viper is lacking. It's unresponsive and sluggish, probably because the side stick is simulated? But even realsimulator users report the same. I know other games have simulated the FLM from Nasa and wind tunnel tests with further refinements. There's a lot of articles and forum posts about this. I really wanted to play the new Viper campaign in 2.9, but I cannot tolerate the FLM, so I'll patiently wait and hope it gets improved.

Reply from Virpil..definitely sounds like something is coming..

I have ordered plenty of virpil gear that was like that, but this one you can't even order.

I've been looking to replace my Alpha, it's a nice stick, but I find it too wide and spacy the Mongoose stick would be a nice replacement I think. It is however currently out of stock, are we thinking a CM3 model is on the way??
-
Just got the Gunfighter 4 with the MCG-U grip and a 200mm extension. I'm coming from a Virpil setup with a Constellation Alpha grip on a Mongoose T-50CM3 and a 200mm extension. I found it very frustrating that there was no documentation, not even on their website! Only a youtube channel, which has some well produced videos, but I prefer reading! Had to ask on forums, and watch again and again. Loved the customisability, being able to pull out the mini-stick and replace it, was amazing! Also liked that you could replace the buttons with black buttons. I have not changed cams, but I've changed springs (two times). It's not so bad to change them, but adjusting the tension and dampener can only be done without the dustcover. Coming from the T-50CM3 it was so much nicer, you could adjust it right on the base and plug the holes afterwards. Though I must say I enjoy the lower and smaller base. Calibrating it was pretty easy, though I think the software is really awful. Virpils is not the best, but this was by far more mysterious, lot's of abbreviations and weird labels. I tried mapping the paddle switch to a button, since it's an axis by default, but gave up (even though I found the axis-to-button section after much searching!). The sticks itself feel very good, it's slim and matches my hand well. The palm rest is a lot more solid than on the Virpil. I do not like that the pinky button is actually pushed with the ring finger though.. The buttons seem high quality and the material is nicer than the Virpil stick. The extension however did not work for me at all, it's way to loose compared to what I prefer. I have a pretty high resistance on my Virpil base, this gives me more of a feeling of flying. This was very loose, even with 2 times 2*50 springs on each axis and the resistance to full. Also, I have it mounted to a Monstertech desk mount, and pushing it all the way forward makes it touch my mount. I think there's too much throw on it, though rotary wing drivers might disagree. Speaking of mounting, there was some screws for the base, but those have an angled head, and on the Monstertech Gunfighter plate there's no indentations. This means, that if you don't want the stick all the way forward, the screws will sit on the base. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, anyway more of a Monstertech issue. Next up, I'll try to use it without extension or consider the 100mm extension. Though right now I'm leaning towards returning it (if possible, lol), and getting a Mongoose grip. Anyway, love to hear other experiences, or good arguments why it's the best stick

Can anyone tell me what these parts that cam with the Gunfighter IV base is for? Also, how do you lock the twist function? Can't find documentation anywhere.

Finally got a reply. End of October.

I was patiently waiting for the realsimulator crew to be back from vacation. Now they're back but the base and stick I wanted to order is out of stock. Anyone has any idea when they will be restocked? I tried writing to them without answer.

I particularly remember that one with joy, probably because it was a little less advanced than the others, and you could play as a tailgunner

Wow really? I missed that you could fine tune that in the settings. Thanks!

Hello! There is justifiable a lot of discussions about controllers and graphics. But no even a sub forum for audio which IMO is also very important for the DCS experience. I fly only VR with a reverb G2, I use the speakers from the headset, which are very good. I did read once about someone who had cockpit sounds in headset speakers and external sounds in some freestanding speakers. Anyone has experience with that and how is that even possible? Any audio tips and tricks are also welcome here!

The best headtracking you can get is the TrackIR 5 from naturalpoint. This combined with a pointing device from DELANCLiP, will make simulation games much more immersive. The DELANCLiP fusion attaches to your headphones or what you wish (velcro stickers included), and tracks your head movements through the TrackIR camera mounted on top of your screen. When moving your head, the image on your screen will move as well. You can calibrate how it moves with the TrackIR software. You can also use the tracking clip attached to a cap (included). Bought from new directly from the producers in july 2022, so still under warranty! I can email you receipts. Selling due to change to VR. TrackIR & DelanClip Fusion - 220$ / 202€ + shipping (PayPal preferred)

Very well done! And the result looks really nice. Was the reason you attached the GF base to a thin piece of plywood and not directly in the thick wood, to give you more control of the position. Also, I really like the detail with the center nook where the cable falls down

I would have to finish the entire pack before I could say what I'm missing. So far I'm real happy that there is so much content, great work!

That looks very sleek and nice! Are you able to use the center hotas plate now? Please tell me how you built it How is the gunfighter base mounted, and did you get that angled bracket made or is it from the set? Is it solid?
-
Thanks! Yes I did see your clever upside down solution, and also contemplated it, but I really need something to attach mfds and stuff on in the front, so I couldn't not have the center hotas. As I mentioned I haven't gotten a stick yet that fits, but it does seems maybe not the best solution. The mount sits very close to the seat and it doesn't seem entirely stable. I'm not sure I understand your other idea, but I am trying to avoid DIYing as much as possible.
-
Currently this is what I have, the clamping plate I mounted on the hotas centre plate and Ived attached the monstertech mount to it. Don't currently have a stick, since I'm planning on getting a VKB and currently have a Virpil (and those things are expensive), but will have a VKB stick with extension at the bottom of the mount.
-
I have the NLR Boeing rig, with a 200mm extension clamped to the clamp plate using a Virpil desk mount. It works well, but now I want to get a VKB stick and also have some holders for MFDs etc. So I decided to get a monstertech mount. However that doesn't fit out of the box due to the very vertical design. Does anyone have a good suggestion for how to mount it? Or have an alternative recommendation for a seat?

I don't think there will be killer headset, but there will probably be a new headset which will hit a sweet spot between performance and price, like the HP Reverb G2 is now. (At least I think that's the most widely adopted). I just hope there will be a new "default" soon. I've also watched Lucas' videos, he currently hold the Quest Pro as the best VR headset, but that is very expensive.

Hello! Decently happy G2 owner here. I'm looking to upgrade as soon as the next go to VR headset for DCS reveals itself. Need higher resolution, better colors, wider FOV, more comfort... Etc. I've owned the Quest 2 previously. I've seen a video declaring that the quest pro is currently the best, and then there's Pimax Crystal, the vote is still out I guess. I have high expectations of the Quest 3, but seems a lot is happening now. Which headset are you waiting for?
