Well, I hope we are wrong and ED are just slow at providing us with the good news. The Mig-21 is another jet that has a plethora of amazing liveries, like the F-5E had. The first thing I made for the 21 was a nice bright red Soviet aerobatic scheme. (The next thing was to clean the glass so I could actually see in front of me!) I'm really hopeful that ED are going to keep modding options open, and not become control freaks by locking down the fun stuff. ED, please remember that not all your user base are gung ho, realism fanatical* ace no.1 fighter pilots. A lot of us are here for the fun of it all, and having the opportunity to just fly these amazing machines in our choice of glorious technocolor is a major drawcard. (*as in strictly historically correct livery, I think most of us love the realistic aircraft of course, otherwise we would be flying a popular arcade game.) Like Tess here below. She's having fun, spreading her wings, despite the confines of her cold, grey "skin" click to enlarge

The liveries seem to be in a compressed file called "liveries.edce". I cannot find any info on the file format after several web searches. I don't understand why ED would go down this path and make skinning our aircraft even more difficult than it already is. If I had the option and opportunity to create or convert skins for the new model, I would be more enthusiastic about the upgrade, and probably get to work creating content, but this seems weird. What is trying to be achieved by locking out creators? Click to enlarge

A warning about the previous liveries being disabled would have been fair. I probably have 1000 hours invested in F-5E liveries over the years, with hundreds of hours this year alone. Fortunately, I was able to disable the upgrade and have my old F-5E back. Sorry ED, you can keep the money I paid, but you can't replace all the work I've done on the module with my own custom cockpits, skins and textures, they were bought with a much more valuable currency. There were 381 community skins for the F-5E, let alone the unpublished ones like mine.

I've been on this for 6hrs and cannot find a solution, any help appreciated. I need texture paths in my custom livery description.lua located in C:\Users\Congo\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\su-27 to point to a particular livery folder located at the default game location here: C:\_GAMES\DCS\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Liveries\su-27\Mirgorod AFB (Digital camo) ... so I can modify all the entries with the correct path, example below... {"su27_tex01", 0 ,"This_is_the_correct_path_I_Need_Please/Su27_tex01_ukr3",false}; ... also, will the texture location still be 'false' after I re-direct it? _________________________ No doubt the question will be asked, so I'll answer it in advance. Why? Because I want the livery's to show up in missions and the mission editor in a more organised naming convention and layout without duplicating the existing liveries, thus saving disk space and upload size, as I'll be sharing the new (description only) livery files with friends. I will be modifying/adding a good number of default liveries with new description pointers, so knowing how to do this is going to save me lots of gigabytes. I've been looking up tutorials and advice, but I'm not getting anything to work because I don't understand the syntax, even with many educated guesses example description.lua is attached description.lua

Dual factor authentication for free trials?
VF19_Congo replied to Beirut's topic in Forum and Site Issues
I'm sorry, kneejerk reaction from an honest person, my bad. If I do enable 2FA, and I lose everything on my PC, my HDD dies.... whatever, will I still be able to recover my account without anything other than ED's record of my account as it has stood in the past? -

Maybe the fact that when you click on the free trial, the first thing it says is "Download the Google Authenticator App" And thank you so much for the education Dangerzone, gonna try your suggestion with WinAuth -

Ah, Yes, I forget that I live a charmed life here.... no deadbolts, no security system. My garage and toolshed don't even have doors. Maybe I will just buy the Mi-8 anyway, I guess I'm a lucky guy after all. -

You would think long standing accounts that own lots of modules (like mine) would be exempt from this, I mean you are basicly calling your supporters crooks. -
Dual factor authentication for free trials?

This sucks, I was just about to trial the Mi-8 before purchasing. No trial, no purchase..... goodbye Mi-8. There is no way I'm putting an app on my phone for this. Can ED please figure out an alternative? Oh, another thing, I introduce a lot of people to DCS and entice them with the free trials. Most of them WILL NOT download the google app in order to do this. ED will suffer over this. -
Thanks for the great map Razbam. I know the Lago Escondido Airfield is not modeled, and I know you have better things to do, but check out my screenshot if you get a minute please. There is a Power Substation terminating a line of high tension towers right in the middle of this 1000m 'airfield'. The field shows up in the textures. There is also a vague field at Puerto Remolino that looks derelict these days. It's approx 750m in length. Another is a 1200m ex-military strip with revetments at Los Cerros. It is apparently active with a flight school and sky diving activities. I'm Farping all the little bush strips, way cool, thanks again

Wow! Cool Place, nice Pics, thanks. I hope Razbam expand the map boundary to include this strip, I was particularly interested in this area and was happy to have O'Higgins, but Caleta Tortel is really tucked into the mountains, so cool!

In the mission editor, please set Historical button to OFF by default. It was an absolute nightmare to figure out why I could not choose coalitions as country of origin. A novice in the editor will be able to place any aircraft much easier without tearing out their hair and poking their eyes out trying to work out how to place / fly an aircraft, particularly with custom skins.

MiG-19 FM Dynamic stability comparison to MiG-15 and F-86
VF19_Congo replied to HWasp's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
I agree, flying characteristics of the Mig-19 is now ruined. Just a click of trim and the nose is bobbing up and down like a yo yo, banked turns are just wierd now, any pitch control results in the nose springing up and down quite unaturally. I can't see how you would possibly line up a ground attack now, let alone a gun shot to an opponent..... anyone tried it? If this "improvement" is realistic, then kudos to any pilot who ever hit a target with this jet. IL2 Forgotten Battles moved to similar FM's in the last updates, that's when I left that sim and never flew it again. The overdone "springy" pitch is just outright unfun, realistic or not. As far as realism goes, your numbers may be spot on, but this is a sim, with it's own limitations. I have enough experience in modifying FM's to know that the numbers don't always equate to the real world counterparts of our sim aircraft, or what they actually fly like IRL. As I mentioned earlier, targets were difficult to hit with the Mig-19 before the "stability" adjustments, so what to do now with the nose bobbing up and down all over the place? If Razbam insists on this pitch model, then please add some damping to it. (Which is what I suspect they removed to begin with to get here). What aircraft acts like a springboard when a pitch input is applied? You would fix the problem before production, lest the design become a useless platform. The Russians have always made beautifully balanced aircraft that were well regarded by pilots, This mig-19 used to be one of them. A Mig-19 pilot once described barrel rolling around a B-747, something he would not have done with our DCS Mig-19 in it's current condition at DCS 2.7.17.29140 Open Beta and DCS 2.7.17.29493 Open Beta. https://hushkit.net/2017/10/30/flying-and-fighting-in-the-mig-19-in-conversation-with-wg-cdr-irfan-masum-part-1/ Simming since F-16 Combat Pilot on the Amiga 500, (1989), so I'm not a noob either, even if I'm new to this forum, Hi everyone!
