Yeah, but no response.

Let me know where you need help, and I will help with what I can. I just want to make this as close as accurate as possible.

Just some various shots of the F-35's we have here at Edwards. The last two photos are of me and my crew. We call AF-03 the Angry Bird, and have little stickers of angry birds in the gear bays. Also the shirts we wear. on the back they say AF-03 "Happy to be Angry". Me in the White Hat BTW....

Paul, they are there so the aircraft shows up on RADAR. They are easy to remove, and if you want to go full stealth you just take them off. Don't know if I can post the name of them, but that is what they basically do...

I would be more than happy to help with anything you need. I would also enjoy being on the OPEVAL. Let me know!

No, but will offer my advice if they want it....

Should be easy to do paulrkiii. We have the doors open on both sides during launch and recovery. the left side is electrical/hydraulic, right side is where we hook up the computer/comm cord/ hydraulic. The red pouch under the comm cord on your lower picture is where we keep the landing gear pins/tail hook pin/ and cockpit pins.

Dont think he was doubting me, just questioning what I was talking about. Nothing wrong with that....

Yeah, the WBD have a about a 2 inch gap between the inboard doors right at the front. They just have to have the doors open more thats all. The outboard doors look good though. This picture shows just how close the doors are. AF-01 Seperation test....
-
Thats just the way they are. More of a common design but it works just the same.
-
Inboard weapon bay doors need to be open more as they have about a inch and a half clearance between them in the front.

Will be interested to see how close this really is. I am a crew chief on F-35 AF-03. If you need help with anything, let me know. Will help with what I can.

Had the same thing happen to me the other day. Some how the elevator got assigned to the brakes. Took off and all of a sudden it was nose down into the ground. found out that, switched it, and all was normal. glad you got it fixed though. Happy Hunting.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

Kinda funny to see what some people think they know about the F-35 from a few different sources. The F-35 is doing just fine in all aspects of flight, and The pilots out here have not had any problems with the helmet. All systems are preforming great, and we are maturing them more and more every day. Its a new fighter with some new technology, it will take a little time to get the bugs out. BTW, I should know cause I am a mechanic on AF-3 here at Edwards AFB. -
Looks like a update to the Apache that will be very helpful in the future.

Getting throttle through customs
beaupower32 replied to beaupower32's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, as this was my first time ever shipping anything out of the country, I didnt know what to put (I know I should have done some research but didnt) on the box. So I have been going back and forth between the USPS and Thrustmaster trying to figure out what to do. USPS says we dont pay custom's fee's, Thrustmaster says we have too. I didnt put anything on the box as I didnt know I had too. Looks like I got into quite a situation. -
i joined the dead warthog club a few weeks ago and I had to ship it to canada for repair. Well, it made it up there ok, but thrustmaster refused it because the customs forms were not paid for. How do I go about getting it paid for. I have never shipped anything out of the country before, and i was not told that I had to pay a customs fee. I called my local post office and they said that I cant pay for it there at the post office. Anyone who has shipped a throttle know how i can go about getting it through to them. I am shipping it from California to Canada.

Though rare, yeah, its fun. Probably also due to the fact that its still a new system that we are trying to work all the bugs out of. Give it a year at the most, and I will be hating it like any other airplane. -

There will be no actual F-35 over there, only the simulator or mock up. All flyable F-35's are here in the US. As a matter of fact, I am pretty lucky to work on AF-7 here at Edwards AFB in California as a crew chief. Pretty fun job. -
When its ready, they will release it.

And I can confirm that. TR door disag's were a real pain in the @$$. Just trying to rig the core reversers were about a 2 day job in itself. Maintenance on the C-17 has its moments, just like all planes. They can be good and not require alot of work, but when crap hits the fans, it seems one thing after another was breaking. TR doors I would say were the biggest maintenance problem on the C-17, as who ever designed the doors really put it to boeing and the Air Force.

at the 1:20 mark you can see the pilot apply the thrust reversers on in mid flight. I was a engine mechanic on the C-17 for 4 years. They are capable to go into thrust reverse in the air, but it cant go past idol, as there is a stop that prevents the throttles from going any further.
