Agreed, what was odd was I made my own mission, same date and weather on Kola. Roads were not showing hot in that one and the IR Mav worked great. I was able to GBU-12 the apc, hit the next tasking and the Rockeye hit the vehicles at the shack. CCIP mode, 35 degree dive, 450 knots or so. Now that being said the state of cluster munitions hasn’t been great and the coverage and results I got were fantastic. So not sure if Baltic had some handy work there in the mission editor or if I just got lucky. But overall fantastic campaign and love the setting and situation. I was going to do both campaigns simultaneously, however I am less fluent in the F16 yet so I figured I better concentrate on one at a time.

Guys, does anyone else have the road showing bright hot on there flir and Mav display. My Mav cannot see the apc. It’s all one bright color.

Is it possible to swap the rockeye out for a CBU-99? Without an Height of Function option on the Rockeye fuse it is very difficult to use. Also, when asked to attack the APC with a maverick it was impossible to tell what I locked as somehow the “road” in the middle of winter has a giant heat plume???? Can target the lead apc with pod in ccd. It once the maverick is on it I can’t tell what it’s locked on to. I hit the bus.

Mission 1 odd situation “spoilers”
Tblue282 replied to Tblue282's topic in F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign
Seems this is an offset mode only thing where when you hit the tdc it snaps back to the original waypoint. -

I also wrestled with the Litening pod. I prefer the ATFlir for the Hornet. When I put in the offset it wasn’t exactly on the vehicles so I figured I would slew it over and set up a Mark point in cast I need to snap back to the exact think I want. However when in a Waypoint designate mode on the litening and then hitting TDC depress it just seems to snap the pod back to the waypoint designate point. Not sure if this is a bug but very frustrating. -
I had something happen on Mission 1 I think was not intended. After I intercepted the Backfire I moved to the high 5 o’clock position as the radio message said to get behind him after the call on Gaurd. Suddenly the backfire opened up with rear guns , obviously part of the mission, I tried to jink but he clipped my left wing taking of the tip and some control surfaces. I managed to fly the rest of the mission with my left wing on fire and a lot of right stick and rudder. When I landed I had to land at 220 knots and could barely control it, damaging the gear on impact. Bent gear and all I limped it to the parking area to complete the mission. Any one else take a hit from That backfire?

Trying to get some insight on the Jester menu and why it pulls up a certain page first in different situations. Largely, when I pull up the Jester menu in an air to air or air to ground situation it defaults to the correct page I want such as radar settings or air to ground or Lantirn options. However, sometimes during air to air combat, I will launch a phoenix and go cold, as I turn back in I might adjust my radar to look all the way right or left or ask it for an elevation and range setting. Mostly the jester menu pulls up the correct page, however sometimes I think it pulls up the within visual range page vs the beyond visual range page and I don’t know why. It then take me several seconds to get into my BVR radar settings page. Any insight on how jester ai prioritizes these things?

Here is the track file of 3 misses with the F16. If you ignore the first miss as that was my mistake, the last three gbu-12s miss exactly as I experienced before. The Hornet was the same thing. This is on the Nevada map so maybe the elevation has something to with it, since I literally just finished Mission 11 on the Gamblers Campaign tonight and dropped 2xGBU-12s with pinpoint accuracy. Confusing for sure, but anyway here it is. LastMissionTrack.trk

Yeah, I went to a GBU-10 and laser guided MAVS and hit 100 percent. So, these three attempts seem to be the odd ball. I’ll try it again this week and post a track if it repeats.
-
Would this also contribute to missing targets when dropping GBU-12s? I went into my test mission and dropped three separate gbu-12s on stationary tanks in point track mode on my FLIR. All missed in exactly the same way. To the east probably 50 feet.

Is anyone else having issues where they set a markpoint with the tgp and when you attempt to slew the tgp to it again it is way off? Also what you have on the hud (mav seeker for example) doesn’t show in the mfd where it is supposed to according to the hud. F16 and F18. Not sure when this problem started but I have noticed it recently when playing campaign missions. This has caused me some issues on some maverick runs and also a couple missed cbu-97 drops in CCIP, as everything in the hub seems a bit off.

How can I get the AI to attack tanks with mavericks. Not my wingman, but another group. I am trying to make a simple mission where I escort. Specifically the F4 is doing the attacking. EDIT, shortly after posting this I tried giving the flight an (afac) task and they finally engaged the targets. I tried this with Sead tasking and they would note engage the tanks. Tasking them with ground attack gives you no option yo attack a specific unit

Hahaha, that is awesome.

I have experienced the same thing when coming back and dogfighting the Hornet. Will just drop lock often with the bandit just 3 miles in front of me and nothing else but clear sky around, locking targets with Jhmcs and the diamond isn’t over the target. I was confused at first but after a month off and on I keep experiencing the same thing.
-
I have experienced a fall off in accuracy in a CCRP drop as well, wasn’t sure if maybe it was a correction to make it more close to reality or what. Either way I messed around a good amount and just couldn’t reproduce the results I used to get.

Mission 4 wingman doesn’t engage
Tblue282 replied to Tblue282's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
I did not run into any issues with the convoy at all. I know in this campaign you need to be sure you are attacking the correct target per the comms conversation. If memory serves you have to destroy the last vehicle while your wingman destroys the first?? Or vice versa? -

My 103 was successful in getting all targets this time and mission proceeded. I aimed at the middle mortar. -

Haha, yeah that’s exactly how it went down. Everything appeared destroyed but I thought maybe it’s just the way it was supposed to go -
Flying mission 4 and after I drop my 103 I need my wingman to mop up a couple trucks. All the comms are good and he’s says he is running in to drop his GBU 38s. He then flys to IP and circles, never attacks and mission is basically dead at that point? Any one else run into this?

I haven’t played this mission specifically yet, but have played similar missions in other campaigns and it always made me wonder, are the people on the ground really asking me to get myself killed for a “show of force”. I mean seems like a lot of risk for nothing. Can they not see me flying over at 15k???? lol I shouldn’t be snooping ahead as I’m only on mission 4

CBU-99 with FMU-140 is useless - falls very short in CCIP and CCRP
Tblue282 replied to AndrewDCS2005's topic in Weapon Bugs
These are still absolutely broken -
I just had the same issue with mission 5. I have yet had the need to refuel on this campaign and I always have plenty of gas left. I also headed straight back after the migs and took direction from atc at 50 miles. Then as I neared home base I didn’t get any more atc and I knew I missed a trigger, I landed anyway but knew I was going to get a failed. I enjoy these campaigns but it’s frustrating not getting a mission complete when you did everything correctly at took all direction given.

Hahahahahaha Possible

Has something changed here since the update a couple weeks ago? I occasionally do a little BVR mission 1v2 against some su27s. The phoenix suddenly is almost useless outside of 10 miles. The slightest turn left and recommit on the SU-27s part and they are completely defeated. They don’t even work well enough for a posturing shot to be effective? I went from rarely losing to rarely winning lol. Has anyone else noticed anything ? Maybe I got rusty
