Actually, the 44th and 504th played on the 169th's server, fielding a total of some 16 aircraft, fighters and ground attack, to sink the Kuznetsov in the biggest operation we've flown. It was quite fun, things had to be timed, fuel had to be counted, aircraft flights had specific tasks and goals to accomplish, and so on.
Opposition was not formidable, but that's the breaks; not a lot of guys were on the red side. Ice later invited us to do it again while the 169th was around, but unfortunately turnout was again low.
Still, we hope to see something like this happen again.
When the heck was that? I always miss these things. Can you guys announce it somehow?

I have a Samsung 32 TFT TV/Monitor combo that is really quite awsome. I did a lot of research before I purchased it and found that this was actually the best at that time, about 1 month ago. The reality is that Samsung and 2 other companys in China are the only ones makeing screens for the whole industry and thats Sony,Toshiba, ect. This set has a 4000:1 contrast ratio with 8 Ms responce time. it's picture is actually better then your typical monitor. I really don't have any problems with the HUD of any aircraft. I'm useing the HD mod as well as Teca Teca's lime green mod and things look good from all the way back to zoomed in all the way... and the picture is large...
Blaze, why is your aspect set to 4:3? I just got 42" LVM42W2 (Westinghouse) and with 16:9 aspect and 1920x1080p, it looks great.
Lockon cockpit is zoomed in a little by default at this aspect - I just
zoom it out every time I start. No probs with HUD and MFD fonts.

Excellent work!
Important:
If the server has the same Tacview's config.lua and export.lua in \Config\export\ , the clients can output Tacview files directly in the multiplayer sessions. They don't have to record and replay tracks. This is the host's decision.
Good work Virtuoz and... thanks TekaTeka:)

Happy Birthday Ice S!

I can`t see any pics on that site (too lazy to mess with my firewall/privacy
settings) but it sounds like NITKA = (USN`s) FCLP... except launching ramp :)

what about theese? old ones?
I`ve just watched the startup vid. Nice!:D
The voiceover guy needs some coffee though...
When he said he was ready for T/O... he sounded disappointed, like
he wanted to read some more nomenclatures but now he has to go and
fly:joystick:
Can`t wait :pilotfly:
One quick question: The Master Arm switch came on before T/O?

Most efficient recoveries (and most fun) are still: daytime, good weather
and pure visual. (at least in USN)
Each flight heads toward initial point when cleared for approach. The initial
could be 5NM behind the boat, inline with the BRC (base recovery course)
at 800 feet AGL. They come in for an overhead break at 300 knots or slightly more, when required with their hooks extended. After passing the ship - a steep bank to the left and a 3G pull - easing up and rolling out on a opposite
heading from BRC. Gear, flaps down and should be reaching proper AOA
when "abeam" the intended landing point at 600 feet AGL. With the wind
over deck (ship`s speed + headwind) being 25 or 30 knots, the pilots start
their descending turns inbound right after passing abeam point. In the first
half of the turn the main focus is getting the plane settled within parameters
for an approach, ie: descent rate, AOA, etc. After passing the "90" (perpendiculal to final approach course) they visually pickup the meatball
and it becomes the center of their visual scan. Playing the turn to roll out
on centerline and a good start on the ball.
I wonder if Russians do a similar visual approach. Anybody knows?

Is it just me, or poll results look like "finger" gesture? :) Sign from above "live with what you've got"? %)
LOL, I just extended the middle finger even more.

Here`s my take on 169th:
They are roughly my age group (old farts:) ) Most of them with a crapload
of sim experience (some with RL flying background)
Team oriented and disciplined (for an online squad:thumbup: ) and competitive as hell.
...and how can I complain about Ice - after almost a year of my non-participation in any squad activities I was still allowed to jump right in
(and take part in an inter-squad match:D :joystick: )
Every squardron, real or virtual has it`s own official and "unofficial" rules
that members are expected to go by. And the rules usually come down
from the boss. Even if you don`t like some of them - it`s a good trade-off
for being able to fly as a team.
-
Yea, I`m a whore too... I`ll F...ly anything.

Mustang you're always one step ahead!! ...
Yep, he`s on top of all this stuff. Thanks for the heads-up.
I`ll try it.

... I don't know how many vipers I've killed "virtually" using ACMI IRL in a GUNS fight (tracking kills with the hud tape to prove it), but if you can get a kill on a F-16 after they've been practicing air-to-air for a few weeks, then you've done something SWEET! Savor the taste.8)
Mind you, we still peel them like grapes when using a slammer, even WVR.
Would be nice to see these tapes (or some clips from them).

...He's only doing 25 Alphas around 120 KIAS, he has to pull the nose up to maintain LEVEL FLIGHT!...
Actually, I`ve heard of Hornets "walking" on occasions at... 95KIAS - not
at the airshows though. :(
-
...it's a photo from an info page on the cockpit systems, yes it's for an F-18...
just out of curiosity - An info page from what?
-
WTH is that? The cockpit looks good. The clouds - too good;)
-
Your looking at the leading edges only, even then the F-18's are much less sewpt back.
I have grabbed 2 Model Kitts I have the the Hornet has at least 10º less sweep, I estimate 13º.
When you consider going fast, first not only you need aerodynamics but structural strength for that. Look again for both aircraft and then say wich aircraft would have its wings snapped off backwards first. ;)
You might wanna look at the cord of the wing. Notice the angle of the
wing tip rail vs. angle at the root.

...PS : sorry for my english, it's not my mother language :)
LOL, Your english is very good!
-
Would be nice, wouldn`t it:)
TBH, I was shocked when I saw that the darn thing actually works.
I`m pretty sure there`s someone out there that have done that already:)

Son of a ..., great clip!

ANY PLANS.............????.
Hey... the other Crusty would like to know too:)
-
He reported last week at our local air superiority squadron and was treated with a joyride on the backseat of a block 15 OCU F-16B. He made 2 VS 1 BFM, with the 2 aircraft being Block 15 and the oposition being a sole MLU aircraft.
He said to me:
"That was a sweet ride! It certainly blasts the T-38 away completely. We all had wing drop tanks and I went right up to 7.8G's (this conflicts with previous Info I had on CAT) and didnt blackout. The perfomance of the plane was surprising even with those drop tanks on. One awkward thing I noticed was how retarded the cockpit intruments seemed compared to the T-38C's. In the Talon I had all the navigation aids and neet lights and all. In this block 15 I have the HUD and litle more than that. Even the MLU is not better than the the T-38 in this respect but then I have not yet fully reviewed this plane, maybe sometime later."
I see.

I don`t have F4AF but I did try F4SP3, SP4 and FF3 (Cobra.exe) before.
To Pilotasso: I`ve got crapload of F16 HUD footage (on old VHS tapes:noexpression: ) and the dampenning of the pitch moment looks
exactly like in F4. I also heard a few things from the "horse`s" mouth and
overall - "the horse" was pretty positive when comparing F4`s FM to block52s.
There was something about the slow speed regime at low alt. and low weight
that he didn`t like - I don`t remember what it was.
I also remember reading endless arguments of the "experts" on different
forums disecting F4`s FM and usually (after 15 pages) they happily agreed
that the FM was not too bad. Especially when a RL viper driver chimed in.
Now, from what I`ve heard (or read?) the F15 in Lockon has a slightly
exagerated pitch "wobble" - like a Flanker should and does in Lockon very
nicely. Then again, I`m just another "expert":pilotfly:
Edit: Hehe, ericinexile - you just posted right before me and it looks like we got
the same feedback, except landing part - it could be tricky in RL too.

What about Finland, Spain, Kuwait, Australia and Malaysia? Those Finnish f-18s taking off from some road, while taxiing in the forest, those pics of it look so damn cool.
Just pretend you`re USN/USMC pilot:D ...
If ED ever decided to create a Hornet sim:dunno: , I`m sure they`d give you
an option to operate from an airbase. They could even make a different
damage model for the "flimzy" Hornets:) j/k (I know, they almost the same:/)
Oh, all east-european coutries had/have these landing strips.
-
ED doesn't model any classified stuff - battlesim specifically has scriptable/moddable systems so that the military can enter its own classified values and methods without having to tell ED.
I would think so. I`ve seen ads from other (US) companies making
sim "templates" with cockpit instrumentation and weapon systems
(well, some of this stuff was only available to mil.) with flexibility to fill in
all the "blanks". Project Magenta comes to mind (few years back).
