I have a new Warthog, and it is as awesome as has been reported by many others :joystick:, however one thing I dearly miss (unless I've missed it) is the 'shift' type button that the Saitek sticks have. It would be great if we could use one of the few unused buttons (like the pinky lever) as a shift button to handle some of the view and track IR commands that we sim pilots have to deal with that don't have real-world equivalents. I especially miss the shift-zoom feature I had programmed on my x52, where I could magnify my image for a gun pass and then zoom back out after I pulled off target while keeping my hands on the stick.
I have remapped the throttle pinkie switch from a duplicate autopilot engage to track IR freeze, so I can lean forward and freeze it to get a good gunsight view on a strafing run, but that just gives me a better view of the HUD, it doesn't appear to really give me a magnified view of what I'm shooting at. So its more of a half-solution.
With that in mind, I find myself staring at the gray 'INCR-DECR' lever on the right side of the throttle, and am thinking how awesome it would be to be able to map that axis to the zoom view, so I can easily zoom in and out during hostilites. We could set a 'min zoom' at one end of the axis, and a 'max zoom' at the other and adjust in between at will as the situation dictated.
Of course if the Thrustmaster people are reading this and wanted to enable a simple 'shift' feature to program into the buttons, that would be great too! Maybe they already have and I just haven't gotten that far up to speed yet.
