  1. One of the tutorial videos on youtube said you can uncage the AIM9's seeker by pressing and holding the aerial refueling button ("...like on the F-5..."), to let it track the target. I've tried this and no luck. Master Arm ON, HEAT selected, good growl, press refueling button, and nothing. Am I doing something wrong or is this the wrong procedure/button? This seems an odd procedure anyway... Thanks in advance
  2. Is there any way to increase the 'font' size (size of numbers/letters) and really increase the brightness? The text is pretty small, and even when turning the brightness to max its hard to read without really having to zoom in. Different colors don't seem to help either. I guess the main thing would be bigger font size. Thanks in advance
  3. Stutters, freezing, crashes. where's 2.8 or 3.0.... Here's another log very unstable dcs.log
  4. Have done multiple clean and repair, short and long. Removed the one F-16 skin I had and the kneeboards I'd made. No help just tried again. 5 freeze ups in three minutes. DCS is unplayable. How to get back to 2.8.....
  5. 2.8 was great; never an issue. Updated to 2.9 and screen freezes every few minutes, freezes lasting 5-10 seconds with the little spinning blue wheel telling me to wait. Then often crashes at various points during game. When screen frozen, gameplay continues. Sometimes multiplayer has no sound. Latest crash log attached dcs.log Have done multiple clean and repair, short and long. Removed the one F-16 skin I had and the kneeboards I'd made. No help
  6. In multiplayer I have to remove HighDigitSams otherwise I'm a 'tainted client' "models/5v55r @ c:/users/apex gaming pcs/saved games/dcs.openbeta/mods/tech/highdigitsams/shapes" I've uninstalled HighDigitSams, downloaded the latest, installed, and same issue.
  7. See page C-12. If you're damaged and your fuel is bleeding out it may not be over. Firewall it for speed and altitude while you still have fuel then coast down, and if you can glide over an airfield at 10,000'+ AGL you should be able to make a deadstick landing. If you're lower, try a teardrop approach crossing the field at ~135 degrees off the runway heading, or if real low you'll have to try a straight in. If you're high/have extra energy, use your boards to control descent rate. Good practice for airmanship - similar to the F-4's f-16 Block 50-52 Emergency Procedures.pdf
  8. Great! Thanks!
  9. Thanks - I've watched some vids but wanted info from the brain trust here.
  10. Is the jamming pod worth carrying (as far as DCS is concerned)? I thought it was supposed to help deny a lock/range info at (say) 25+miles, or also to help break a lock once a missile goes active on you. But I don't know. Does anyone have some good info or advice on the pods? Has anyone done some experimenting in the game? I can see the pods being useful for SEAD and A2G, but does it help any in BVR? Thanks
  11. See pic - Some radar tracks/datalinks have data above the track. What is this??? ED34 ? CK14 ? SE32 ? Thanks
  12. Thanks!
  13. On multiplayer, when landing to refuel and rearm, my fuel is not being topped off. Sometimes my droptanks are even empty after it says "complete". Ive selected the refuel n rearm stores with the droptank loadout Im carrying. Is it best to drop your tanks before landing? Thanks
  14. Guess Im doing something wrong but cant get her to switch to Auto sequencing on the steerpoints. - dauber left to bring up CNI page - press button 4/STRP - dauber up or down to highlight MAN - dauber right to change it to AUTO ...but it doesn't change. Any hints? Thanks
  15. Does the F-16 have Home On Jam capability, and if so what is the procedure. From what I've found here I don't think so but would like a definite answer. Thanks!
  16. I don't know what corrupted my LUA files but I've recreated them and they seem to be working normally, so feel free to delete this post. Thanks
  17. Using a Thrustmaster HOTAS setup. I had been flying the F-16 offline all afternoon and no problems (was not connected to wifi). On the second online mission, during startup I went to the Adjust Controls option to check a binding on my throttle. Upon pressing throttle buttons, no actions were shown/highlighted on the binding/control page. The #1 engine throttle was moving the rudder (not my setup). I then noticed the control setup was (I think) the default F-16 one, not the LUA(s) I've created. I found I could not access/find in the drop down menu any of the control LUA setups I have made. I could not select Open Profile (it was grey). When I pressed buttons on the joystick they showed/highlighted the default actions; not my settings. After pressing a joystick button, the Open Profile was white and I could select from my LUA files, but when they loaded, they are not the ones I've created; they are the games default F-16 controls. Also note the file size of the F-16 LUA's "I've" created compared to the other aircrafts. 1kb is pretty small - I think they've been changed somehow. When flying other aircraft, the controls work properly to my created LUA, but if I go into the Adjust Controls, they are switched to the F-16 default control setup. Is this a virus from online? No issues til the second online game, and I was so involved in trying to figure out my binding issue, I don't remember what server I was on.
  18. I've got a ThrustMaster HOTAS set up. It's a nice stick but the centering spring is very stiff and going through center in any direction is not exactly smooth; it makes fine control difficult, such as formation flying, and to be honest this is some expensive equipment and this is very annoying. Does anybody have a way of making the spring weaker or having smoother function on it? Appreciate it, thanks in advance. B
  19. Its just a crosswind?!?! Good grief... Thanks guys....ugh Merry Christmas yall!
  20. In the HUD, the Velocity Vector and Pitch Ladder becomes displaced to one side or another (left or right of centerline, to various amounts of offset). I first notice it flying when the HUD's uncaged. When caged, it centers the VV but then there is a new symbol (the three lines of the VV without the center circle, a 'ghost VV'(?)). The symbology is accurate as the Hornet's flight path is slipping in that direction. Very obvious close to the ground or trying to land. See pics The error is with the heading system (AHRS/INS?). The lateral displacement is heading dependent; the amount varies based on heading, and turning through 180 degrees will move it from left to right or vice versa. Its like a type of misalignment It happens in both cold/hot missions that start on the ramp, and ones that start in the air; even in training missions starting in the air, where I did not perform the startup and assume the sim set everything up correctly. I see no external damage and the FCS page shows nothing either. On cold starts, I usually do the Stored Heading when aligning the INS to save time, and figured I was doing something wrong. I wait til the '0.5 OK' appears and the 'INS DGRD' is gone - completing the 90 second alignment. But it also happens after the full 8 minute alignment. IFA (In Flight Alignment?) doesn't fix it. It's been there from after takeoff, and has also appeared after maneuvering. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough, and now it happens when I didn't do the start up, so I'm at a loss. Will INS IFA fix this over time? Is there a reset? I've hit the trim reset button and it doesn't do anything for the issue. If you have any help I'd appreciate it, and thanks again. Merry Christmas!
  21. That's it - thanks! Select the appropriate stations using the buttons to the left of the EFEI engine display. (I have a feeling you are missing this step). <--------
  22. Help – new player, can't jettison drop tanks on the FA-18. Using both the mouse and keyboard commands, I can rotate the Selective Jettison Dial, and with Stores selected, when I press the Jettison button, the cockpit graphic shows the button depressing, but nothing happens. I can jettison the fuselage missiles no problem. Everything comes off with the Emergency Jettison Button. But the tanks won't drop using the Selective button. I thought it might be me not starting up correctly (I usually start on the ramp), but even on missions where you start airborne, the tanks will not come off. I looked through the forum's 40 pages but didn't find any help, besides mention that there are many safety locks preventing an unsafe jettison, but I didn't find anything concrete. Straight and level 1G unaccelerated flight. Master Arm is on. I have no master caution or warning panel indications, and the FCS panel is clear. I can't see how this could prevent jettisoning them, and in real life I bet they've been dumped under far more strenuous conditions. Any help greatly appreciated. Just started DCS this week and have about 4 hours in the Hornet. Don't want to give her up but you can't fight dragging three full bags around. Thanks
