Oh Thank you!! I have been searching high and low and don't see it listed in the Controls options. They work fine for me, though the ALT z also brings up my Radeon software sidebar. Just where is this documented? And is there also a short cut to set it to "normal" ? I don't see any indicator of the "playback speed" Thank you again sir!

Is there some way to speed up playback of saved tracks?

Editing F/A-18C Lesson 10-Case 1 Carrier Landing
EmJay22 replied to EmJay22's topic in Mission Editor
Finally got it to run by removing all but the first Triggers and in that only the Flag On ("101") and Show Helper Gates remain. There is still about a 10 second delay before I hear sound but at least the mission is not stuck in Active Pause On -
A "condensed" version of this mission would be nice to allow a novice to practice carrier landings without waiting for all those "messages" and still be able to use the big green gates as a guide. In the Mission Editor, after clicking the "Show rules for trigger" button from the far left menu, I then first tried to just remove all the "Triggers" that appear in the big panel that opens. This, of course, just broke the mission as it just got stuck. Next I tried to remove just the "Messages to All" from each trigger. Almost the same result, though I could hear "the instructor" still speaking while the first "Message to All" ( which I didn't remove) remained. Pressing spacebar did nothing. So next I deleted the "Sound to all" from each trigger. Same thing. It seems that the Time Since and Flag conditions are also the issue. I just want the Helper gates. Please!!!

The 4K resolution is very clear and is amazing to me. Water looks really good. I have not even had time to play with any of the monitor settings regarding Free Sync, etc nor for the video card.

I can assure you my spouse won't allow that...

It arrived last night.. woo hoo... Initial thoughts... When the box arrived I thought maybe it was going to be too big, but after opening it and setting it up, it is as expected based on the dimensions. Upgrading to this size display and resolution is what I would classify as "game changer" and I would say it is similar to the change made when a user switches to TrackIR The change in details in the cockpit instruments and HUD is really huge. For me, I think it is going to make finding different dials, switches, indicators, etc.. a lot easier. I am still new to DCS. Clearly, bigger is better DOES matter with DCS. But if you don't have room for a really big monitor, this size is a nice upgrade from a 27" 2k monitor. Basically a 50% increase in "pixel real estate", keeping the same high resolution. If your GPU can drive it, I would recommend it if the $1000 price tag, which I agree is high, is something you can afford. I would assume that other display manufacturers will probably follow suit. Going with a flat screen is something that I thought might be an issue, though I have never tried a curved one for anything. And with the use of TrackIR, you are basically focused on the middle anyway. There is a need, at least for myself, to increase the distance to the screen. This is something I can do with my setup, probably moving back about a foot. I am still playing around with this. So far I have not changed the graphics settings from the "medium" I had them at with the 27" screen and have yet to notice any problems. I have not turned on overlays to see what the actual frame rates are because what matters to me is how I perceive the play.

Oh heck yes!! Another remote control to lose!! I think it will be perfect. And it should arrive tomorrow!

I decided to try something really dumb and connect my MSI Vector GP76 laptop to an old Samsung 42" plasma TV via HDMI just to confirm that, yes, bigger is better. The ancient 1080p not good but it was enough to make me realize 32 is not really that much of an upgrade. It's unfortunate there is not much available between 32 and 42 but I am going to try the card board cut out thing you suggest, sir. I really do appreciate those links you shared above and will keep them. I certainly don't have the patience to look all that information up. I did realize that for DCS i was not using the center channel speaker in my set up so I think I can lose it considering I use it primarily for stereo audio listening. Thank you

Of course bigger is better, unless there isn't room for it. At least that's what she said! This looks like a good deal.. for a 32" 4K 240HZ https://www.newegg.com/samsung-ls32bg852nnxgo-32/p/N82E16824027121 Amazon is even cheaper... https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Odyssey-FreeSync-Ultrawide-DisplayPort/dp/B09ZH3WM47/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1ZY8DVZIMLLV9&keywords=odyssey%2Bneo%2Bg8%2Bls32bg852nnxgo&qid=1702747527&sprefix=Neo%2BG8%2BLS32BG852NNXGO%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-2&th=1

Very useful size comparison. I'm one of those old timers who generally doesn't use headphones and has some ancient ADS speakers on my desk with an MB Quart center channel speaker. I have to keep finding ways to move the center speaker every time I get a bigger monitor. Attaching a shelf to the wall will likely result in death when wife sees it. Is not the need for a curved monitor proportional to the size? Just how close can one sit to a 42" ?

Oh wow.. awesome. And thank you so much for providing all this great food for thought. I really do appreciate the time you spent on this.

Thank you to all for all these great responses. The more I think about ultra-wide, the more I think it's a waste of money. A 32" isn't gonna add much more to what I currently see with my 27" 1440. I do have an Asrock OC formula 16GB AMD RX 6950 XT so I think 4K is probably doable, though I know my motherboard and CPU are a bit old and it's probably CPU bound at this point. I am a bit limited in desk space and as my current configuration has my head about 2 ft from the display. So am not sure I can go bigger than a 34. I think 27 to 34 is a pretty decent upgrade. If my rig can't handle at 34" 4K, then I will dial the settings back down as I upgrade mainboard and CPU. (That's just such a pain!)

Been using a 27" 1440 with DCS and love it. Not interested in VR. Prices of wide screens keep dropping. After reading lots of comments about the pros and cons about both, I think I decided to not do anything. Because if I hate whatever I get, returning it won't be easy. I totally get the argument that 4K will make other aircraft harder to see. And still think that extra wide 3440 x 1440 is just .. well strange. Then it occurred to me that a much wider view, at the same pixel size as I have now, might make carrier landings a bit easier with the added peripheral vision. I do use TrackIR. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Even tried a cleanup and repair. But the static object and F12 works fine. Thanks And I guess I hijacked this thread.. sorry...

Actually, it basically only works maybe 1 time or 2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The F7 doesn't seem to work... but then it does if you just hold it down long enough. Strange. Maybe my keyboard. Thanks though for confirming that.

I did manage to save the sample to that folder and it works just awesome. I'll have study it a bit to try to learn how to create the same type of task. I have also been trying to figure out to add an additional "camera" so as to allow watching the carnage.

Thanks for spelling that out. I did manage to copy the file to that directory and the mission worked perfectly. I’ll have to study it to try to apply to my mission. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's annoying. I have DCS installed to a different location, so don't know where "saved games" is. I have saved plenty of "missions" from the Editor but can't find them after searching. I also somehow installed the Openbeta into my normal DCS directory Can you share your full path? Okay... Windows search helped me to find them... LOL. I hope I can get it to work.

Not sure where to download these *miz files to? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah... I added another B-52 and it just did nothing. I did switch the "carpet bomb" to bomb a point and adjusted the direction from which the plane comes in.. which did work. Got it to drop something like 90 500 pound iron bombs. I also added 4 Abrams tanks and set the waypoints for just one along with attacking the enemy vehicles at the last two. "attack enemy group".. All the tanks followed and did the same. Maybe the tanks drivers are smarter than B-52 pilots? LOL
-
Just tried this again on the Sinai map instead of Syria and only created 3 way points with second having the "carpet bomb" task.. on top of some enemy vehicle. In this case, the B-52 flew past it, then turned and flew back out to the first waypoint, then turned and came back and dropped all the bombs on the "triangle" point for the task. Interesting. Maybe using too many waypoints interferes

I too would love some instructions. I can't even get the thing to drop anything specifyng "auto" or specific "iron bombs" etc... But the important thing is that the B-52 now looks so much better.
