  1. Excellent... because when I start trying to get him from their "support" they will see all the negative comments I will be posting about WinWing until I get it resolved. Thanks
  2. Yes, the green dot below the right throttle indicator in SimAppPro is on while the left throttle green light is off. There is no movement at all in SimAppPro leading me to believe it is either defective (because I have never put the throttles to off when in game) or perhaps the nut from the screw did damage something. Though I think it did fall down into that area I would "feel" something if it was tearing up a wire. Even starting the game with no throttle and stick I am still not hearing the voiceover and none of the audio settings appear to be changed. I guess the next test would be to also unplug my pedals and try to reset everything to default. I was hoping I could somehow SAVE the profile to create a new one but I guess I have to use a different login? I really did not expect the hardware to go bad so quickly but was worried in the event there was a problem to return something to WinWing. Obviously if the screw did cause this, it is my fault for not checking every single nut and bolt for tightness after assembling the thing, which was not really simple given the rather poor instructions.
  3. Everything was working just fine prior to my attempt to park the Hornet and then move the throttles to off. Or maybe I am being punished for running over those three army guards who are too ignorant to move out of the way. (Unlike the sailors on the Super Carrier who will move!)
  4. I don't think I did that, but's it possible. Both the SimAppPro and the Windows 10 calibration show nothing at all coming from the Rx throttle. Not sure what those green dots indicate but it would appear it is permanently stuck in the OFF position. And if there is some button on the Throttle base to turn it back on again, I am completely unaware of it. Like most things! Thank you
  5. Been using my Orion 2 throttle and stick for a couple of weeks now without issues. Today after attaching some new mounts which work great and have helped my landing skills a lot, I actually returned to the parking place I started from in the Caucus map. So for the first time I tried to reduce engines to OFF using the finger lifts and decided to take a break. I am not sure what I did, but when I came back and tried a hotstart on Marianas, which is ready for catshot on the Supercarrier, I noticed the right engine not actually running? Nor was the "voice" speaking at the beginning of the mission. Tried to reboot the PC, restart the game, calibrate the Rx and Ry axis in the SimAppPro software and even did a firmware upgrade to no avail. I did also notice the screw for the rear detente had come completely loose so put that back together. I am really hoping that I don't need to send this thing back to China... But the game not hearing that "trainer" talking is strange.. annoying as he can be!

  7. The SIM does run just fine on this laptop https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16834156394 The 16GB GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is very nice. Though some additional cooling might be in order and it gets pretty warm. I need to reiterate, that this is only for when I travel. My home rig is a desktop system
  8. My Winwin Orion 2 F/A-18 HOTAS arrived today. The quality of the equipment appears to be excellent. The same is not true for the installation instructions regarding attaching the throttle handles... I did find the instructions for the Orion base.. LOL
  9. Thank you so much for the response. I really do appreciate it. I just added a Radeon RX 6950 XT to my home rig and the improvement is amazing. But a laptop similar to your your's might be great for the second house or for traveling overseas. Gonna have to check out that XBox controller option too How much GPU ram with your 3070?
  10. I just tested it and Num5 only centers the view. Does not change the zoom. the KeypadEnter says "NormalZoom" in the controls .. but is still zoomed in a lot farther than the default zoom when you start so I must have something wrong. I do have a button mapped for F10 for TrackIr to center and return to a somewhat normal zoom.
  11. Yup.. this is all pretty overwhelming right now. LOL. I did order the WinWing HOTAS set up.. over $100 for shipping? I have a hard time learning from videos and they don't help a lot if you can't even see the controls in the cockpit. I use reading glasses and with TrackIr it can still be hard to see everything clearly. So I have been resorting to removing the hat & clip and just looking down using the mouse I have a programmable mouse so I can switch easily from "looking" with the mouse to "clicking" with the mouse. However I have also been using the hat on my X45. I had a devil of a time determining how to change the trim as the "manual" is vague and videos.. are well videos, where sometimes they just go too fast. And just missing one piece of that instructions set me back an hour to finally understand how to change that. This was actually for setting the aircraft launch wt for a cat shot. \ But at least the Chuck's guides give a better explanation of what should be mapped unlike the DCS Manuals. Thank you so much for your valuable input. So, if you use * to zoom, is there a key that returns to the "default" view? The "." (DEL) on the keyboard zooms in waaay to close. I can't stand the DCS tutorial on landing just listening to stuff I have heard over and over so would rather just take off, fly off a bit, turn around and come back. Zooming helps to line up the correct airfield.
  12. I know that Thrustmaster isn't considered to be as high end as wingwing, vkb, etc... but wonder about their long term future support for stuff like drivers.
  13. Hello, Since I have another controller question, I thought I'd just drop it in here rather than start a new thread. I have been working my way thru the DCS F-18 manual and the training missions. And finding both the manual the training missions somewhat lacking sometimes. I see that the Chuck's guides and tutorials are clearly far more in depth, including have detailed recommendations for HOTAS control mapping. I am guessing that the HOTAS mapping recommendations are based on using Thrustmaster HOTAS Warhog setup? Maybe with an F-18 grip for the F-18 guide?
  14. I have an older Saitek Evolution stick and probably just the F/A-18C. Probably take my TrackIr and clip. If and when I replace my current HOTAS set up, the old ones will go to the other house, which is what I mean by "traveling".. LOL Main goal is to practice earning flight pay by crashing, which is all any airdale can hope for .. virtual or otherwise.
  15. I know a desktop system is best (which I have) but would like to upgrade my laptop to something that will run this amazing SIM when I travel. Was thinking about this, upgrading the RAM to 64 and adding a 2 TB M2 SSD https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Raider-GE77Hx-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B0B2KW7ZB6/ref=sr_1_3?crid=39I6XBBHRLJFR&keywords=qhd+gaming+laptop+rtx+3070&qid=1674911542&sprefix=qhd+gaming+laptop%2Caps%2C70&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.4dd97f68-284f-40f5-a6f1-1e5b3de13370
  16. I found the "Speed" setting in Track IR that does what I want so I'll just experiment with that. Right now I'm just gonna work my way through the online PDF manual, without using track IR, in a cold and dark Hornet to find all the crontrols
  17. So far I am only using the hat clip on a visor and it seems to work fine. I need to somehow tweak the settings so that I don't have to look down so much to see all the cockpit. I was gonna try to also use the hat on the stick to also look down though don't know if that will work. Working thru some of the tutorials I still find myself wondering "where" when they point out a switch to change the HUD brightness or something since often the yellow "box thing" covers up the actual label. Thanks for both the detailed explanations... and here I thought that the "finger lift" was for visually signalling enemy pilots!! Right now my current setup involves moving my keyboard from the slide out tray it is on up to the desktop, then placing my X45 throttle and stick onto the keyboard tray, which I think I might need to try to lower somehow another inch. The mouse/mouse pad stays on the keyboard tray. I may need to get more creative with the new HOTAS equipment.
  18. Sorry to keep beating a dead horse but I'm getting ready to order new HOTAS from WinWing and am confused about these two packages at the top of the page.. mainly not understanding what the "finger lift" thing is... https://wwsimstore.com/view/shopping.html
  19. Thanks... I appreciate that info. I will give that a try. Trying to determine what new graphics card would give a decent frame rate improvement without costing a lot over $500 or so. At least prices have come back down
  20. The Radeon software has utility that will show fps and 42 sucks.... 27" 1440p monitor...
  21. I just tried to start up Fraps99 (which hasn't been updated in years?) on Win10 and Windows won't let it run due to some security threat. Is there something newer for tracking fps that is recommended for this? Or some trick to get Fraps to run. The solutions I found for getting it to run under Win10 don't seem to want to work. Or maybe I should not worry about it but thought it might be helpful when deciding if a new graphics card might be helpful. Currently running an ASRock Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB DDR6) which seems to be doing okay, but I haven't tried turning up the graphics settings in game yet. Also running 32 GB DDR4 RAM on Ryzen 5 2600 6 core 3.4GHZ
  22. My TrackIR finally arrived and I must say it is worth the $$$. Currently just using with the hat clip and it works great. Gonna try to get it working with my version of IL2 ... Now I just have to convince myself to order this WinWing Max HOTAS thing... https://wwsimstore.com/view/goods-details.html?id=343 This is not good news from WinWing " While FedEx China will suspend operation from January 19, 2023 to January 28, 2023 (Beijing, HK time) (January 18, 2023-Juanuary 27, 2023 EST), it is recommended that customers place orders in time. During the FedEx China vacation, our online store will keep running and warmly welcome aviators to our store, however, please be kindly noted that all products purchased in this period have not to be shipped until FedEx China resumes business and we will spare no effort to deal with all orders within 3-5 days. Sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and wish all of you have a splendid gaming experience, thanks.
  23. And since I needed to upgrade to a new iPhone, which is arriving today, I can use the older 11 Pro for this. It's a simple matter of using the old holster to position it correctly. No hat or headset needed. Just power for the phone.
  24. I just tried this with my iPhone 11 Pro and it works surprisingly well. Need to play with placing it just right. Of course my "old" phone is a 6 so won't work with that one. It also works on my new iPad though positioning it is a bit of a problem. I have ordered TrackIR as it looks to be a lot easier to use.
  25. Oh. My plan is to just use the X45 while I decide just what to order and wait for it to arrive and work my way thru the F-18 tutorials. I definitely want something new with nice shiny paint, clicky buttons, pretty lights as well as a solid feel Any and all recommendations are appreciated. The problem isn’t really my better half. It’s my 4 legged ground crew who would rather do something else besides sit and wait. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
