  1. Doing some testing with the update with Supercarrier in Marianas... Looks like the wake appearance is greatly improved. Very nice. Though it appears the TACAN no longer works, or is there some new way to get the carrier (Stennis) to turn it on? Used to be 55x Ohhh. I see the TACAN station is now the same as the hull number. Nice!
  2. Thank you and yes, Ia new thread would have been helpful. The update did finish and it runs great. Almost feels like my whole PC has been upgraded.
  3. Thank you for the clarification of this info. Downloading into the previous installation is running much faster than my previous botched attempt. And also thanks for the info about the user "settings". This brings to another question regarding 'settings' Is it possible to create different "profiles" for the same user but when they want to use different controllers so they (or I) don't have to go thru all the controls and 'reset' them for different hardware. I want to try using an X-Box controller with my laptop but still want to be able to use the "other controller" settings if I go back to them. I don't see anyway to "save" different control "profiles" Thanks again for you help and patience with my dumb questions. Alan
  4. Okay.. I did have to restart the update and update into the original folder when the openBeta was installed before and the install of the update into a new empty folder was producing lots of errors.
  5. However, I think that since the download is running and saving into a "new" folder which I created, I guess I will need to update all of my controller settings again for each module? Or maybe there are some files which I can copy from the "old installation" I am do not remember how I ended up with the "openBeta" being installed into the same folder as I had the "non openBeta" version installed before. Maybe I should restart the entire update process and point to the old installation directory instead. I also have the SIM installed on a laptop for travel and it happily asks to update to the new version. But I will do that later to save bandwidth.
  6. Thank you so much for the reply. I found some info here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/repair/#1883673 and managed to make a backup copy of my old installation, create a new folder, downloaded the updater and it seems to be downloading the update to my desired folder. I don't actually have that shortcut since I installed to a different folder. But I appreciate your help. I guess in a few hours I will know... thanks again
  7. Back in August, to be able to run the new F-15 module, I installed open beta 2.8.6.41363. I am not reading all about the new and amazing 2.9 update and am not sure how to get it onto my PC as I don't even see any available link from this page https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ I am assuming that I am somehow not worthy of this DCS goodness but maybe hoping I am just not aware of what I need to do. I was hoping to not open a support ticket for such a stupid question and that maybe some helpful person can be ... well... helpful? Thanks
  8. It is set and works fine for my fixed wing modules. Oh I see.. it shows up for the "none training" missions. Thanks
  9. Hello I was wondering why, when you press F-10 for the map why your own helo (or others) do not appear. Maybe there is some setting that I have not yet been able to find? Thanks
  10. Okay Thanks
  11. This map is amazing. Thank you so much. But one stupid question... are there going to be some future updates to it? I notice that in some of the parts that overlap the Syria map, some things are not the same.. as in Ramat David airbase not being included.
  12. This is awesome. Thank you
  13. They can't do that because then someone might be able to copy it off your PC and play it for free!! OMG!!! But when online authorization doesn't work the 3 day grace period should freaking work. I didnt even have access to the default free aircraft and map.
  14. yes... it broke again. ::sigh::
  15. This is a good day to just relax with a good book!!
  16. I do think it would be nice if there was some info posted and updated on some DCS webpage saying something like "Please kindly return to your ready rooms while we attempt to sort out the current server problems"... rather than just guessing. Is that too much to ask?
  17. I will give that a try I guess. I am just dreading that I will most likely have to send the thing back to them for repair or replacement. A process that I assume will take months. For now I am just living with it by leaving both throttles locked together and then changing the settings so that it is mapped to "Thrust". Who has time for all that "manual startup" nonsense anyway. It's not like I can spend hours a day with this SIM. I have a dog and as her only caretaker, she needs attention when I am not teleworking to earn a living.
  18. Hello. Thank you for the response. I have been out of town and not on this forum for a while but will do this next week. Just what am I taking a video of? That the Simapp software does not see the right throttle input at all?
  19. The sound issue has been fixed. Apparently the engine and environment sounds (of me crashing) use a different sound output than the "radio" talk or "voice overs" This past weekend I switched from HDMI to DP which apparently changed what was the Windows "Playback device". When I changed to the correct SPDIF for my sound card, it was fine. I guess I should have checked it sooner but since I was hearing sounds fine thru my sound system, I didn't even check that. Maybe this is done intentionally to allow controlling the radio volume and other sounds independently.
  20. First of all, thanks for taking those screenshots. That helps a lot. Actually I do not see anything change in SimApp Pro when the I move the right throttle. Maybe I have a different version as I see this, with the green dot at the bottom of the right throttle. Which is not indicated for the left. Moving the left will show the green line in the test section deflect. Nothing happens with the right. The Windows 11 calibration software sees nothing from the right. I don’t have a pic for that. 21. Yes. I think you are right and I will spend a lot more time looking for the wrong setting before wiping all the other bindings back to the default.
  22. On Saturday, I installed these brackets, which are a bit pricey but are very sturdy and were pretty easy to install. https://www.amazon.com/MOUNT-Desk-Mount-Compatible-Thrustmaster-Installation/dp/B08QRCW6SN?ref_=ast_sto_dp This allowed me to change my ergonomics so that I could properly use my CH PRO pedals as brakes and for the rudder. This made a huge change in my ability to not destroy the plane when landing and thus take off and land from several Caucus airfields and thus even land at the original field and take to the parking space. I do still suck however. This is when I decided to try to shut down the engines with the engines with the throttles. When I came back after lunch, it was a mess.
  23. SimApp Pro does not see the right throttle move at all and in fact the green circle at the bottom is "on" which I assume means that the engine is off. Even unplugging both the throttle and stick has not changed the fact that the "voice over" with the "briefing" is silent.
  24. Reposting here to add WINWING to title Been using my Orion 2 throttle and stick for a couple of weeks now without issues. Today after attaching some new mounts which work great and have helped my landing skills a lot, I actually returned to the parking place I started from in the Caucus map. So for the first time I tried to reduce engines to OFF using the finger lifts and decided to take a break. I am not sure what I did, but when I came back and tried a hotstart on Marianas, which is ready for catshot on the Supercarrier, I noticed the right engine not actually running? Nor was the "voice" speaking at the beginning of the mission. Tried to reboot the PC, restart the game, calibrate the Rx and Ry axis in the SimAppPro software and even did a firmware upgrade to no avail. I did also notice the screw for the rear detente had come completely loose so put that back together. I am really hoping that I don't need to send this thing back to China... But the game not hearing that "trainer" talking is strange.. annoying as he can be! I had also posted about this over in this thread as it got more visibility.. near the end of page 2 and on page 3
