Excellent, Draconus! I had not seen that binding! Once the paint dries on my sticks new platform (distance and height set for ergonomics) I will give that a whirl. Learn something new every few hours! Thanks, Mate!

Sorry for opening this old thread back up, Ironhand. I am flying in Caucasus Single Player while I am training before I go to Multiplayer. Your statement from above: "CAUTION: When starting on the ground on the Caucasus map, your baro altimeter is set to the runway's QFE. After takeoff (or before) set it to the mission's stated QNH. Otherwise your altimeter reading en-route will be inaccurate and BARALT will stabilize you at the wrong altitude. You can run into mountains that way. This is not an issue with an air start. Nor does it appear to be an issue on the Nevada map. Did not check Normandy." After reviewing your video, "I think" what I am needing to do is get the Vertical Velocity Indicator (VVI) to be at "10° or less" via trimming of the aircraft "then" it is okay to engage the AP? The Su-27 AP is wonky and has no ability to follow RTN, or LNDG modes as I am currently using it. I do trim the aircraft manually but have not been using any of the gauges as a reference(s). Is there a way to set the QNH on the ground in Caucasus in the Su-27? I do not see anything in the manual about QNH settings for the Su-27. Can we see the mission QNH "in-sim" or is this something I need to take note of on from the Quick Mission generated page? Sorry for the noob questions. I've got seven hundred hours in MSFS and never had to deal with such poor results using the AP for other planes. I won't mention the Longitude. Cough, cough... Porpoising galore. The Su-27 is acting similarly to that plane in MSFS but more violently.

These guys are fun to listen too! They still tour today. Blackmore was so jealous of them and dreaded having them start the concerts. He was amazed by their abilities. Ty Tabor's tone is spot on "good" and sought after by other guitarists.

New user here, too. There was something I had to do on the right hand side of the "Assignment Panel" window... Click the drop-down for "Add Modifier"? I'm not at my computer, sorry.

Ahhh! So, to recap, the Target Designator Control is used to allow the systems to enable locking onto a target via the rectangle or circle (mode specific), while the TDC Slew mode controls where the radar dish is actually pointing or sending microwaves to. And, we would use TDC Slew (if required) to find a target, and the Target Designator Control to lock onto the target in that order. That makes sense now! Correct me if I am wrong, or no reply required. Thanks Ironhand!

After looking at the Su-27 manual and googling this I am still confused about the difference between the two. I do see that the Target Designator Control (R/L/U/D) is used in the (4)BORE Close Combat mode. Is the TDC Slew control used in the other mode(s)? I am mapping my controls and see the two different disciplines in the keyboard bindings and it is very confusing. I searched the manual for "TDC Slew" and it is not mentioned...

That's a good point, Sharpe! Brilliant! I am new to DCS... So, I just watched a YT video on how to assign a modifier key as a "momentary" switch. The video used the mic switch on the TM Warthog throttle, which I just so happen to use. I take it, momentary switches work the best for modifiers, in that, when we release the switch it goes back into the "off" state. Thanks, Dudes!

Logitech G Saitek PC Farm Sim Vehicle Side Panel

Bump... Any active users still using this? I don't think there is room on my rig for this device, but the joystick would come in really handy for left-handed radar A/A targeting mode, plus lock. -
Right, Some1. I understand now that the keyboard and separate keypad will mimic each other. That makes sense. Thanks for that insight too! So, using two keypads does not make sense. Got it! I will try it out, using the SU-27 and report back if it works worth a darn. Because the F-16EX is a better designed stick (IMHO) I might just pop for that instead and be done. Easy-peasy.

Thanks for that insight, Max! I have two extra keypads sitting around and might as well use them. That was my thought. I have my keyboard mounted forward of me on my SimLab P1-X rig. That places the keyboard kind of far away from me. I was planning on mounting the keypad with a swivel mount directly above my throttle so the reach is minimal. Thanks, again!

I am using the WinWing F/A-18 stick, and that stick has a limited amount of HAT controls (see image - 3). Is there any harm or foul in using a USB Keypad instead to set the trim? I could control the trim using the arrow keys of the keypad with my left hand while I fly with my right. By doing this, it would free up the trim hat for many other uses. I find the "normally used", "weapon select" black thumb HAT hard to use. The left press is hard for my thumb to engage. I regret not getting tnullhe F-16EX stick instead... Thoughts, please? null

I am a few of weeks behind the OP in knowledge, and this information, using the Su-27 is very helpful. Thanks for sharing all! I have had these same questions floating around in my head as I watch all of the YT videos out there. Good stuff Maynard!

I have been using Bush, Series A office desks for years (at work and home) and they hold up fairly well. Even after moving. They are a little pricey but are very solid. If needed, you can lower the desk by cutting down the legs from the bottom of the leg boards. I have done this while using a desk to play a piano/keyboard (25 inches).
