Was there any more update on this with any users running SLI setup with LOCK-ON? Did the guy with the bad PSU get a new one and try out SLI? I'm still trying to decide what to do a 4000+ SLI with 2 6800GTs will cost me about the same as an FX55 with an Ultra or X850XT... I know there are new CPUs and GPUs coming out real soon, but I'm stuck on a P4 with a GF4 and can't even play LOMAC or IL2 and getting anxious. I've been in flight sim depression since selling my old computer parts. I can only play so many fps shooters until I order my new rig - lol

ED can u add these features one day?

I guess I could do this with my X45 Mode selector, Mode 1,2,3 each for different planes. I've just found it though that I don't like to use the Saitek profiler and I can for the most part put all the key commands I need using the default LOMAC input setup it's just that for different planes there a lot of buttons not needed or needed. That's a great idea Kula and I'm going to do that in the Saitek profiler for the time being. -
Well, I'm going to be building a new computer next week and I have LOMAC 1.1 installed on my old computer. I'm totally selling off all the parts on my old computer except for the case, HD and the DVD writer, everything else is gone. I must say the original activation went flawlessly. What's going to happen though when I reinstall on my new PC? I assume it will use another one of my activations?? Also, if I ever decide to reformat my new computer and reinstall will I have to use another activation or are the activations only if you make major changes to your computer like I am now. The original activation went very well without any problems.

I think they are considering a dedicated server. But if not then your choice would be very cool. The only thing holding this game back online is that unless your playing with a squad where they setup a mission ahead of time and have someone to baby sit the host then ground missions are pretty ridiculous. I'd love to have an option like IL2 dedicated server where missions are loaded automatically where you get ground objects to take out or defend and the side that completes the mission wins. IL2 kicks butt on hyperlobby with the dedicated servers, how I wish LOMAC had the same functionality. I'm sure it's coming though, it might be a year away but I think they going to do it. -
Just wondered if one of these days in a patch or add-on or maybe even for the sequel if ED could add differential braking with rudder pedal axis to LOMAC or it's successor? I know there are numerous threads on how it can be done sorta with the CH profiler software, but it would be nice if we could actually have it as an option in the game. Also another thing that would be convienent would be if we could actually have different controller assignments for each plane. This way we could actually map different buttons on our sticks for different planes. It's cool that we can actually assign different commands to each button in different MODES, but also would be nice if we could have 1 setup for maybe the SU25, another for the MIGS\SU and a different one for the F-15. I know these are minor trivial things but they would be nice features. thanks - love this game anyway

Best video card for Lock-on?>

amagad, When LOMAC first came out I was running on a P4 2.53 and GF4 and it was barely playable with everything on LOW. I bought a 9800 Pro and could run it decently - I had to hack the config file though and turn the LOD down which I didn't like the way it looked. Seriously your probably not going to be running much on HIGH or even Medium with even a 6800GT. I sold the P4 2.53 and video card to my friend that also play LOMAC and got a P4 3.2 and 6800GT. With that config I still had to turn down the OBJECTS to LOW and VIS to LOW. Also advanced haze ON though. It sucked without all the buildings and trees but I got smooth fps and the nice lighting effects at night. The game just needs a poweful CPU and vid card. About 3 weeks ago I bought a A64 3800+ and could run everything on HIGH except water medium and vis medium and got 30 fps even over the large towns and I was in LOMAC heaven. Too bad i had to return the 3800+ because I had some problems and locking up my computer. After going through 3 processor upgrades I would recommend at least the A64 3800+ as min to get most of the eye candy with the exception of high water and high vis. I hate to burst your bubble but the 2.4 just isn't going to cut it. I've been there and bought numerous processors and video cards for this game and really was disappointed with the performance I got with the exception of that 3800 that I had to return. Don't listen to the fan boys with their mid range computers that make outrageous claims of getting 50 fps with everything on high with just some miracle to good to be true claim. The good news is prices are coming down and you can get a decent computer on the cheap now - you don't have to spend $3000 anymore just to run LOCKon. I think that 6600 would be better than what you have, but its not going to be a miracle maker. You might be better off just saving the money and putting it towards a whole new system. I'm still shopping and waiting for the Venice core athlons to come out soon before I buy something. I'm not trying to knock down your computer amagad, I just don't want to see you waste money on a new vid card if it's not really going to make all that difference for you. I know I been there and wasted my money already. -

My buddy has a P4 2.53 with a Radeon 9800 and it runs LOMAC pretty decent on mid-range settings. Yeah the 6600 GT is probably good for his CPU. -

FWIW I've been reading a lot of the reviews on firingsquad.com and they use LOMAC as a benchmark for a lot of the video cards. Without any doubt performance goes up proportionally higher with a faster CPU rather than a faster video card. For example an A64 4000+ with a 6800GT will get an average of 35.8 fps compared to A64 3800+ with a 6800 Ultra will net you only an average of 32.2 fps running the same demo and same resolution. A 4000+ with an X850XT averaged 37.3 fps whic is even faster and the X850XT costs $100 less than a 6800 Ultra. Nothing much of a difference in fps but you definitley get a bigger boost with a faster processor vs a faster video card. The only reason I mention this is I was sold on getting a 3800+ with a 6800 ULtra or X850XT Platinum but after looking at the hard numbers realized that I was wrong. I don't mean to sound like a know it all, just thought these numbers might help someone else in the same situation as me that is upgrading. I might suck it up and get an FX55 with a X850XT I think will be most bang for buck at the present but still might have to settle for a 4000+. Unfortunatley, I don't have an benchmarks in Lomac with an FX55 to compare. -

Ice, I'm thinking of getting X850XT or BFG 6800 Ultra - the 850XT is $100 cheaper. Just curious what processor you have, what settings and what kind of performance you get?? I'm probably going to pair it with a 4000+ processor or FX55. I've owned both ATI and Nvidia in the past, personally like ATIs AA\AF better but 6800 has PS 3.0 support which I really want for IL2\PF. From what I seen performance seems about the same between the two, some games faster one of them has advantage over other and vis versa. I had a 6800GT AGP but just sold it to get a PCIe card. I may even just get another one those, and maybe a 2nd one later for SLI - but I ain't sold on the whole SLI concept yet. So what you think of X850XT? What were you running LOMAC with before that and how much did it improve? thanks -
Trying to stay positive but why so much whiners over F/A-18 constantly since the day this sim came out? ED will model whatever aircraft they want to PERIOD. What do you people honestly think your going to achieve by non-stop crying over F/A-18? There is probably hundreds of threads or more over this topic from the same few people. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see F/A-18, but I just don't think it's necessary to start a new thread on it every 2 or 3 days for the last two years. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers

Which PowerSupply for Athlon 64???
firesoldier845 replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thank you for you assistance in this matter -
Guys, I know this isn't really lomac related but I'm trying to build a new computer for LOMAC and it's my first AMD A64 computer ever. I'm a little confused as far as power supplies go. I don't have a zillion forum accounts so I thought maybe someone here could help me. Which power supply would be sufficient for an AMD64 with either a 6800 Ultra or Radeon X850XT and only 1 HD and a DVD burner? Oh and I have 2 small cooling fans in my case. I really want an Antec PS cause I have an Antec case. I'm confused cause I read all these things about making sure I have enough amps on my +12v or something like that and not sure what they talking about. Also I do have the SATA power connector on my HD and also a PCIe graphics card I want to get so do I HAVE to get a PS with the PCIe connector on PS? Please if anyone knows which PS will work I appreciate the help. thank you Antec 480W Power Supply with Blue LED Fan, Model "TRUE480BLUE" - Retail - Specifications - Type: ATX Maximum Power: 480W PFC: No Power Good Signal: 100-500ms Hold-up Time: >17ms at Full Load Efficiency: >68% Over Voltage Protection: +5V trip point<+6.5V;+3.3V trip point<+4.1V; +12V trip point<+14.4V Overload Protection: Latching Protection+5V @<47A;+3.3V @ <48A;+12V @ <18A Input Voltage: 115 VAC / 230VAC Input Frequency Range: 47-63 Hz Input Current: 5.0A for 230VAC Output: +3.3V@30A;+5V@38A;-5V@0.5A; +12V@22A;-12V@1.0A;+5VSB@2A MTBF: 80,000 hrs. @ 25ºC Approvals: UL, TUV, CB, VDE, FCC CLASS B, DEMKO, NEMKO, SE Antec 480W Power Supply,Model "TRUE480" - Retail - Specifications - Type: ATX Maximum Power: 480W PFC: No Power Good Signal: 100-500ms Hold-up Time: >=17ms at Full Load Efficiency: >=68% Over Voltage Protection: +5V trip point<+6.5V;+3.3V trip point<+4.1V;+12V trip point<+14.4V Overload Protection: Latching Protection+5V @<47A;+3.3V @ <48A;+12V @ <18A Input Voltage: 115 VAC / 230VAC Input Frequency Range: 47-63 Hz Input Current: 9.0A for 115VAC;5.0A for 230VAC Output: +3.3V@30A;+5V@38A;-5V@0.5A;+12V@22A;-12V@1.0A;+5VSB@2A MTBF: 80,000 hrs. @ 25ºC Approvals: UL, TUV, CB, VDE, FCC CLASS B, DEMKO, NEMKO, SEMKO, FI Antec TRUEPOWERII 480 Watt ATX12V v2.0 PSU, Model "TPII-480" -RETAIL - Specifications - Type: ATX12V Maximum Power: 480W Power Good Signal: 100-500ms Hold-up Time: 17ms min. at Full Load Efficiency: 70% min. http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/msi_nx6800/page5.asp Lock On SLI review with dual 6800GTs using Athlon 4000+, 36% improvement in fps @ 1280X1024 over a sinlge GPU - check the benchmarks for other resolutions. One thing to note though, ITS NOT THE MAX FPS that is what really matters it's the MIN FPS that matters. The min fps is 31 for a single GT or dual GTs - so even with the two cards or one your still going to have fps bog down exactly the same. Notice how the Ultra 6800 stayed at 34fps min which is better then the 2 GTs in SLI. The thing is IMHO that 31 fps is definitley playable and 34 is even better. So maybe a single Ultra is the way to go cause it's cheaper then 2 GTs by about $200. I was going to go SLI but got talked out of it. Naturally, if you have the money though it's the way to go. I'm still wavering whether or not to go SLI with 2 GTs or get a single Ultra or Radeon X850XT. I found a good deal on 6800 Ultra so I may get one. I've been posting like a madman about SLI for weeks trying to get opinions and apologize in advance if I seem like a pain in the butt. An Ultra though is the way to go IMHO from what I have been reading for weeks. Don't forget, it's the MIN fps that we really need to be concerned about - cause no body wants those stutters and choppy frame rates. my 2 cents

FX55 single card or 3800+ SLI???
firesoldier845 replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I keep wavering back and forth with all that I read on different websites and such so I think I'm probably going to save the money and get a 4000+ with a single video card - Ultra or Radeon. SLI is definitley great, but your probably right. It's tough to buy a computer for LOMAC when you can't afford to go top of the line for everything. You really just need the most powerful CPU and graphics you can afford and even that won't be enough at present. So now the decision is 6800 Ultra or Radeon X850XT? I had a GT in my old computer that is getting sold that I loved, but I kinda like ATI's AA\AF a bit better than Nvidias. Anyone have any suggestions? The Radeon may be cheaper than an Ultra but a GT is about $100 cheaper than the 850XT - more decisions. thanks for everyone who replied to my call for help. In a way your all right, even though you guys all have differing viewpoints. I guess the decision comes down to how much I want to come off my wallet. thanks again, this a great community here at lockon.ru cya guys soon on hyperlobby when I get my new rig. -
FX55 single card or 3800+ SLI???
firesoldier845 replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
FWIW I am getting socket 939 FX-55 or 3800+ which is socket 939. SLAMMIN I checked out that site and yes the SLI is a benefit, but my problem is my LCD can only go 1280X1024 and you don't see the huge benefits of SLI until you go higher. I did post a firing squad review that had LOMAC at 1280X1024 SLI on a 4000+ and the fps boost was still 36% higher. So there is room to gain even at that low a resolution inspite of what I read from users that say there is no benefit to SLI unless you go higher than 1280X1024. If I get an FX-55 and a single GPU I won't see a 36% increase in performance over a 3800+, the FX-55 just isn't that much faster than the 3800+. You know the funny thing though is I could care less about the max fps with SLI, it's the low fps that I care about. I think the SLI could give me a nice boost in LOMAC where it comes to the pixel shaders that kill performance. I just still don't know what to do - in a year I'm sure there will be a new GPU that will beat dual 6800GTs. Its just a tough decision. Certainly though from what I am reading the dual 6800s will give me the most bang for the buck in LOMAC at present. -
Well, I'm going to be building a new computer in the next two weeks and need some advice: I can get a A64 3800+ SLI with 2 6800GTs or an FX-55 with a Radeon 850XT or single 6800GT for the same price so which one should I get?? Looking at some of the newer benchmarks with SLI in LOMAC - SLI is tempting, but my LCD only does 1280X1024 and the SLI doesn't seem to make all that much a difference until you hit 1600X1200 or higher. So I'm leaning towards the FX55 and a single video card. I'd still like to know if anyone is running SLI and how is it?? From what I have read so far on some websites it looks like I might get overall better fps with the 3800+ and dual 6800GT over the FX55 and a single 850XT or 6800GT. The only thing is future upgrades... I'm just worried about dumping over $700 in video cards that will probably be obsolete in 6 months. Also the 850XT just slighly edges out a single 6800GT in LOMAC performance, but seems to be a lot better in other games with the exception of IL2. It's a tough decision. I think SLI will definitley be better, BUT in a year I'll probably want a newer vid card anyway so maybe I should just go with the faster processor and single card... gosh I wish I knew what to do. I posted this over at the ubi forums, but this place seems to be a bit more active then ubi.com since the release of FC. thanks for any help or suggestions.

My next rig is going to be SLI, should have it in a few weeks and I'll let you know.

Why can the 29C only carry 4 rvv-ae?
firesoldier845 replied to Force_Feedback's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I imagine there will be another patch for 1.1 that will fix bugs or any other issues that pop up. Maybe they'll address this issue in that.
