not planned Easy/Medium/Hard/Realistic refueling options.

That's why I have suddenly gone sour to DCS, especially when I was perfectly happy with a modded install of SFP2. -

I would be glad to accept a full refund, leave, and never come back again. Please. Yes please! Someone from ED please reach out to me. I will gladly take a full refund so I can leave and go play WT instead! After seeing how people here are, if this is what DCS will turn me into, ED can hand hold me into another game please. I spent a few hundred dollars on different modules and I just want to undo that. -

Do you even virtual air combat bro? This isn't just a game! You do this hardcore or not at all! Seriously though 36% want it. Okay if that's not enough then what percent need to want something to justify the addition? -

Hey if it's about saving dev time, ED can just stop all work on everything and never put any new features in. That will save 100% of their time. Not like I care. I'd be equally happy to not own DCS now as to get the feature I attempted to wishlist. -

Honestly having met the lovely community here I would be more than happy to accept a refund and go play War Thunder instead. In fact I really do regret having given DCS a try now thanks to the people here. -

Maybe I wasn't clear. I didn't wish for advice or youtube tutorials. I wished for an easier AAR experience in game. So thanks for all the tutorials and advice I guess. That would be like wishing for an F-22 and getting an F-105, but what are wish lists for amirite? -

The programming to fix this could have been done by now. Imagine how much easier your life and ED's life could be if they'd just do the clicks required for the fix? -

Every time I attempt AAR and wind up frustrated I am going to bring the issue up. -

They better get used to hearing it then. -

Full control by AI, "Please wait, the AI will fly to contact and fill the tanks then give control again" would be acceptable for me to have as the easiest difficulty setting, and if it was the only alternative implemented by ED, I would say 'My request has been dealt with in a manner of speaking I guess its good enough for now'... For that type of system I would ask that it work so that the player gets into precontact without help, and when they ask to be cleared contact the AI takes control, and hands it back over when the tanks are full. What you mention about something like a Russian autopilot would be my ideal solution. Settings where the player retains a variable amount of control to guide them in a little and lend a helping hand. When you realize that you're plugging every time all the time with 50/50 control, step it down to the AI only having 40% control, then 30, then 20, etc. Some day you're at 0% help. If ED said "Programming this is too hard, you get all or nothing" then so be it, as long as scripted missions will recognize the AI taking control and flying to contact as if I am doing it I guess it's good enough. I am willing and able to accept a solution that isn't my dream ideal fix if it means I can fly with limited fuel and still hit the tanker. -
Ooooh that's probably going to be why. I didn't realize that could be done but this has definitely happened in otherwise very scripted campaign missions.

You guys are pretty sensitive about this game huh? I have never in my life seen so much pushback against adding difficulty options nor have I ever seen so many people so rabidly insist on what others do with their time. If you all want to fly around on maximum realism, grunting like you're pulling Gs IRL, that's your business and I'm not telling you not to, am I? Yet you seem personally offended by the request for easier AAR options. -

Frankly that's none of your business. I would also like an answer to these questions! As it stands now I have several missions and campaigns that require AAR that I cannot complete. Telling me to "Git Gud" doesn't and won't solve this. However a "magic workaround" will still allow me to complete them. So yes why is there a segment of the community so rabidly spiteful and hateful towards this? Does it insult their macho standing as real fighter pilots? -

PhantomHans replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It's easy to explain that. At the easiest setting, the AI takes over temporarily and flies the AAR, fills the tanks, and returns the aircraft to player control. Should be easy enough to program. At progressively more realistic settings the AI gives less and less input help or a greatly exaggerated sweet spot becomes smaller. May be difficult to program and may be released later if ever. This would be my preferred difficulty setting so that when I'm missing the basket by a foot I get the nudge I need to make it in, or a nudge to keep the right position on the tanker. I'm willing to deal with handing it over to the AI. At the most realistic setting AAR happens without any assistance, and potentially in an EMCON environment where you use hand signals only instead of radio calls. In other words more realistic than we have now except nobody complains about the things wrong with it now, they just beat their chest and tell people to "Get Good" like a bunch of children playing COD... -

I came here wanting a less frustrating time. But tbh they can gatekeep DCS all they want. I just want my money back and I'll leave and never return. -

Sorry. I'm not interested in participating any further. I'd love a full refund on both everything I have and my unfilled pre-orders. Then I can leave and be happy. -

I'm sorry to have joined this "community". It's apparently a waste of both my time and money. I would be more than happy to be offered a full refund to go play something else. Anyone from ED is welcome to reach out to me. -

Can't we already "Jump" into and out of aircraft in flight? That seems pretty realistic. No wait someone will be along to explain to me why it's useful... I'd be perfectly happy not to make it an autopilot function but to simply make it "Please Wait, the AI will refuel you now..." even if it isn't my ideal solution. But, given how this discussion has gone, if anyone from Eagle Dynamics would like to offer me a full cash refund, I would be perfectly happy to save them all of their programming time by taking my money back and leaving forever. I'm always in favor of a frustration free solution that would make everyone happy! -

Okay that's fair enough. So we can dive into that argument a little bit. Programming a complex system of multiple levels of difficulty to allow the player to slowly remove the "training wheels" may take lots and lots of time. Sure. That would be my ideal solution so that as I gradually 'suck less at life' I can turn the assist down until it's off. How about using already programmed functionality to make a work around and simply offer "Realistic" and "Arcade" fueling options? For "Arcade" AAR: Open the comms menu. Select Tanker. Request Refueling. Fly to precontact position. Tell tanker you're at precontact. Tanker says "Cleared Contact". "ARCADE AAR IN PROGRESS" displays on screen to publicly embarrass anyone making a YouTube video. Control of the player aircraft switches to the AI. The AI moves the player aircraft into position, takes fuel until the tanks are full, goes idle throttle, deploys the speed brakes, and hands control back to the player. That's not ideally what I want, but that would be enough for me to not be angry when flying and finding out that AAR is required or my best option, and to stop me from wanting to come here and offend all the aces on the forums. -

I think we agree, this is going the wrong direction. It is packed full of toxic gatekeepers who are providing all the wrong reasons and excuses for the lack of a key feature, and all they have to do is stop telling others how to play the game. -
I seem to have run across a problem recently where Jester takes a liking to a single contact and constantly locks it up in STT. I find myself constantly spamming for him to break lock, but before I can get into the menu to tell him to go TWS Auto/Manual he will return to STT. Is there something I am missing here to prevent this behavior?

If I wanted to spend a few hours training for it, then I would spend a few hours training for it. If all it took to fly with the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds was spending the time to "Get Gud Scrub" then any and every pilot could do it, right? Maybe I don't have hours and hours to spend learning AAR in all of the different aircraft I paid big bucks to fly. Maybe I want to jump in and fly a mission without the frustration of coming up on a surprise roadblock that I can't pass. Do you not recognize the vast difference between unlimited fuel and easier AAR?
