  1. Maybe not. Most users of FSX use add-on ground and weather textures (ie- REX, UTX, GEX, Orbx, etc.) Now that DCS is open to third party development, maybe these companies can use their terrain data to make DCS more global.
  2. The whole "Flight" release is a bit odd to me. After FSX, Microsoft basically shut down the project, cut loose all the programers and, to top it off, sold the intellectual property and code to Lockheed Martin. Not sure why they would take so many steps backwards and then take a stab at putting out a flight simulator that isn't up to their own standards. Obviously, it didn't pan out. Anyway, I think the good news is FSX is being developed by Lockheed Martin now under the title "Prepar3d." And, they seem to be putting out updates every 5-6 months. Even though I never thought I'd be interested in commercial flight sims, being able to fly anywhere on Earth is pretty fun.
  3. If anything, I'd vote for a larger map. The larger the better imo. Falcon sized maps are a good start. But then again, I also enjoy FSX, so the idea big maps with long flights to the target is cool with me. Also, not to change the subject, but when the next DCS USA fixed wing module comes out, the current map is likely only going to feel smaller. If you go in the mission editor, you can see that an F-15 at full afterburner can overfly the entire current map (from west to east) in something like 3+ minutes.
  4. I'd like to see a V-22 Osprey flying around in the airspace. Especially if I am flying CAS and they are delivering troops or picking up a downed pilot.
  5. I mention this request for two reasons: First, I can do it in FSX. That seems like a large environment, but what do I know. Second, i really would like to be able to break up long missions. It's not so much saving during the middle of a gunfight. It's saving during a long trip home or re-arming on the tarmac. Just my 2 cents...
  6. I'd like the ability to save games in progress.
  7. I recently bought FSX+Acceleration and just added REX 2.0. I'll probably get a PMDG cockpit. Pretty fun so far. Any recommendations for a terrain addon? Maybe UTX?
  8. Thanks Fire, exactly what i was looking for.
  9. How big is the Nevada map? As in, how many square miles? I'm curious if its larger or smaller than the current A-10 map.
  10. Looking to get a new video card and I want the best performing hardware for A10. Currently running an i7 with 8 gigs ram, 64 bit OS. I have an AMD 5970, but the card is dying and it never used both cores with A-10 anyway. So what is the best/fastest video card currently available for A-10?
  11. do you guys see much of a performance improvement running A10 off a non-system hard drive?
  12. ok- thanks for confirming.
  13. Hi- I was wondering if vsyc still has to be enabled by changing line 22 of the graphiccfg (sp?) file to "vsync = 1" or if the GUI menu should be working. thanks-
  14. isn't there already a key command provided for toggling the tailhook?
  15. That's what i keep telling the computer!:D
  16. Since most of the air bases appear not to have an ILS system, how do most of you land (safely) in near zero visibility weather (ie- nighttime with dense snow/precipitation)? Thanks -
  17. crane
  18. I'm running a 5970 card, and after some testing last night, I'm pretty sure I'm getting better frame rates with the old 11.1 driver. All things being equal (flying the same track with the same settings), I was getting 25-35 fps with 11.2 and 35-48 fps with 11.1.
  19. one of those details i had no idea would be implemented in the sim but is. so cool.
  20. One thing I noticed in A10 is that the carrier is modeled quite well for a sim that is not carrier based. I was surprised to see planes catching wires and stopping in a very realistic manner. I'd love to see the next one be an F-18
