  1. Andrew, Forget about the sequel! Give us a brand new movie based on 1.1!!! I'm looking forward to a new movie from you. Cheers. =
  2. This is geting a bit surreal! :) There seems to be two kinds of opinions about this topic: People that are complaining about thinks they disagree. People that say we all should suport the devs and not complain. By saing that the game is great but that you disagree with some issues you are suporting the devs. They need feedback to improve their business. Now lets get some facts strait: ED IS NOT the first company to release a game throught the internet. Live for Speed and others have done it before. We are not costumers just hobbyists with no rights only responsabilities? :D :D :D I was going to answer to that but I just can't stop laughing... :D :D :D
  3. I mention the fact that they are a comercial business because I see a lot of posts where people say we shouldn't be so critical and support the DEVs as if this was some sort of free MOD. There is money to be made with sims, just not the huge amouts that the big publishers expect. They want all games to sell like Sim City series. Read my post. I never said it was expensive, I said it was on par with the comercial games so we should expect the same standard in the quality of the game and in the selling system. From what I heard they exceled in the quality of the game. Limited personel? Just to give you a few examples: Live for Speed and Still Beasts. They have a limited personel! I don't get it why some people get upset over the gamers questioning of the marketing system. Because of the criticisim I'm sure ED will improve their marketing to the standard of their product and will make the game a huge success. Everybody agrees the addon is awesome and that the developers did a great job and the criticism to some of their choices should not be seen as a criticism to ED but only to their marketing options. '
  4. I like the Battlefront idea. They are not like other publishers. Still they are not the only option available. Matrix games is another one... I think the move to sell the game on line is great. I don't think anyone mentioned this but by itself it cuts piracy. Games sometimes don't get to many places in the globe and if they do that is months, many months after release. There are other advantages to selling online but let's leave it to this: it was a good move in my opinion. But it doesn't exclude having a retail version I think we should support the devs, fine. But they are not some non profit organization, they are a business and they are in it for the money and not for pleasure, as much as they like what they do. Also they charge US$35,00 for an add-on which is not exactly cheap compared to other games. My point is they ask a "professional" price for it but deliver an "amatuerish" selling system. Didn't they know about SF or Pay Pall? They should have done their homework before releasing. By the way they are not the first to self publish and distribute through the internet. But if has to be emphasized that they are extremely competent at making awesome flight sims. It's a shame they had to smear their image with this marketing fiasco. '
  5. I'm not sure about that. The bumpy release of FC for me is proof that they should concentrate in doing what they do best, produce sperlative sims, and leave the selling to a company that has know how to do it. They thought they would save in the middleman's cut but actually lost many sales due to the clumsiness of the release. Not to mention money and time invested to sell the game. '
  6. The pool is not clear. The first option means the person is pleased with Starforce or Flaming Cliffs??? I'm sure most people are pleased with FC, it's an awesome addon no doubt. There should be an option: DL although I disagree with Starforce. Many people love the game and prefer to live with the activation thing than live without FC. That doesnt mean they agree with the system. ---
  7. Yes, there are others and what really scares me is that it may be a trend. I use MS Flight Simulator for a long time and from time to time buy some addon aircraft for it. Now a company called Level D (http://www.leveldsim.com) has released a 767 which seems to be the best there is. I was ready to buy it when I found I had only 3 activations, hardware change limitations, etc. Like I said I bought other add ons for MSFS but none use this kind of system. So far??? Companies making this addons for MSFS are small and come and go. So I get this add on and 6 month from now wont be able to used because they decided to do something else of their lives. Needless to say I did not buy it. This system penalizes the honest joe. All games can and are cracked. The guy that gets the pirated version will play the game for the rest of his life while you that paid for the game will only have a limited amount of activations! Doesnt make sense.
  8. I don't think there will be an official answer other then what we already know. My topic posted recently questioning the 4 activations have been simply deleted. Seems like they dont want to talk about it. Not long ago they lived under a dictatorship where freedom of speech was severely punished and people were erased from history. I guess old habits die hard. A reall shame. Read fast before they delete this one too! They have a team of clever and creative people able to release a high quality product but can't come up with a reasonable system to protect their code! There must be a better way to do this. If ED goes out of business 6 months from now (God forbid!) who are you going to ask for an activation code? How many developers have closed their doors even after releasing wonderfull games? I want to have a license to use this game for as long as I decide. Am I going to buy it? Probably since there seems to be no forseeable alternative. But that doesnt mean I have to like it or agree with the system. I'm not flaming, I'm not ofending anyone. I'm just giving my opinion. Is that allowed? '
  9. Yes this game is very demanding so are Flight Sim 2004 and IL2. For me the most annoying thing, and I havent seen it mentioned here, is that even with low graphics settings when you are running towards a target and you press the trigger to fire rockets the screen freezes for a few seconds and you only take control again when you are alread on top of the target!!! This used to happen to me a long time ago while playing Janes F/A18. I used to thing it was my system but years later with a much improved system and in spite of the fantastic frame rates, I still had the same problem!!! cheers
