Ive got the same problem i did a recording of the quick start mission for the 33 to show a friend but when it comes to recording avi it crashs to the desktop

also after 4 re-activations what are you to do then i noticed some ppl are concerned with this, me beeing on of them :D

Ok so every thing went fine no problems at all :D however..... where/what is the key for the su33 carrier hook it used to be Ctrl + G but nope not a thing it just brought landing gear back up so i crashed on carrier lol

try a reboot and/or a reinstall

Well, looks like ED have finally ventured into unknown tertory congrats guys thanks for the Game!!, the set backs were worth the wait and what a nice suprise to see you got it released before you said :D (11/4/05 date not 5/4/05)
