Other players´s landing gear not retracting in multiplayer
Turbonix replied to Turbonix's topic in Bugs and Problems
@Templar560 No this issue does not affect aerodynamics. The retracts of the own plane always are shown correctly. It´s just he other guys plane, which just looks damn silly doing 500mph+, nosedive, gear down.. i think it maybe has something to do with a faulty netcode. -

yes confirmed.. @_HossHoss -
Other players´s landing gear not retracting in multiplayer! It is always shown in gears down state. All my squadron mates can confirm this too. Approx. 10-15 pilots. Did anybody of you guys even fly the Corsair in formation with another F4? Cause i cannot find any thread or official notification of this very obvious bug. I think it is even gears down or up, depending on which skin the actual F4U uses.. screenshots following

Feedback Thread - Phantom Patch 17-04-2025
Turbonix replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
yes, i have the "Jester not starting alignment from coldstart" issue too. thanks for the quick reply anyways @HB_Painter and at least it gets me to learn how to start manual alignment from the backseat. Thanks again for the interactive manual HB -
What means "godlike resolution" to you? With my RTX4080, OpenXR, DLAA and x1.3-x1.4 Q3 native resolution it is horrible. its so bad since the last six weeks. I even don´t Play DCS anymore just because of this mess and I went back to the other sim, where spotting is MUCH more realistic and doesn´t have any freaking dot(label) system. and yes @Tippis it is a forced on label system. To me it feels an behaves just like that. Whether its (wannabe) dynamic rendered and not meant to be an UI feature, or not. It is still an overlay in front of an otherwise "normally" rendered object. Call it what ever you want, but it is what it is.

no, somehow i was never really happy with Quadviews. Of course it gained a few percent more fps in the end, but every time i tried to set it up, one of my CPU cores was constantly on the limit, which resulted in nasty microfreezes.. additionally i always had a thin black line seperating the middle high res area to the peripherial lower res area, no matter what i tried to smoothen the transition from high to low res. So i just use OpenXR

@BIGNEWY Here is my feedback for the latest update: spotting dots in Quest 3 are a bit smaller now, but still a mega conspicuous black dot in space from 2-3 nm, whereby you simply can't estimate whether it's an airplane or maybe a parachute and whether it's at a distance of 3 nm or maybe 30 nm isn´t possible to estimate either, because is´s only a black 2d dot overlay, unchangeable in size. In my opinion, this is just annoying, immersion-killing and ultimately game breaking. I haven't even tested the spotting dots max visible range, probably still around 40-60 miles... An additionally at longer ranges the dots still switch from dark black to shiny white in front of a cloud. no sry I'm out again and still happy with IL2 Tested with Quest3, resolution x1.3, DLAA

@Tippis That is exactly my definition of an exploit... That should be impossible to do. Or at least server settings should be able to set so some minimum graphic settings. Look at ARMA3 for example. @Zakson85 no offense that you have fun playing like that, just to get kills over kills. Be happy with it. Unfair is not the right word for that, but in my opinion you´re sort of laughing about people who take DCS as some kind of serious immersive simulation. I think you should better go play AceCombat or Battlefield and get your killstreak there. Sorry that im a litte pissed about people doing stuff like that. But this is similar like guys removing vegetation in a milsim game like ARMA or PostScriptum just to have an advantage over others. They should better go and play UnrealTournament or Call of Duty.. @Zakson85 if your whole post was satire on the current spotting dots situation, it is a really good one

so then, I am just another one of the hundreds of players who just chose not to use DCS anymore.. DCS spotting mechanic is just a farce Definition of "farce": The noun farce refers to something ridiculous, ludicrous or grotesquely funny. A farce is an exaggerated, silly-dramatic situation comedy that slides into the ridiculous and absurd. In a farce, actions, behaviors and situations are taken to extremes and exaggerated. They often lack any logic and develop into an abstruse, weird comedy. Typical for a farce are surprising, unpredictable twists as well as bizarre dialogues and incidents. The theatre knows farce as a form of comedy in which crude jokes, slapstick and comedy of mistaken identity are used. But also in television, film and politics one can sometimes experience farces, when events and behaviors take on increasingly grotesque, absurd features. sounds familiar huh?

Thanks for the long and detailed response to the questions i had to you. I can especially agree to the answer to "What do you expect from a good spotting mechanic". A system like you have explained would be good and realistic and equal to everyone on every system. That would be die ideal case. Glad to see that in the end we are on the same side. But i still wonder if it would look an feel realistic at the same time though. Because it will very likely still be a system of artificial dots but a system of dots will always depend on one annoying factor: the dots themselves so why isn´t just it possible to limit render distance for ground and aerial objects? To prevent a pop in/out effect there could be some sort of smooth fade in/out mechanic.

@Tippis first of alI, I didn´t read all of your posts precisely, but i get a picture. Why do you constantly oppose the opinions of other people? To me it looks that most of these guys, myself included, just don´t want to be bothered by big black legobricks in a simgame and mainly want a realistic spotting system and therefore kind of prefer how it was before. All i see is you trying to make these people look stupid in the face of your superior knowledge of what´s really going on behind the tech. I even find your responses to other people's posts quite assaultive at times. What i cannot see: What is your agenda? Why is everybody else either a cheater who wants to utterly exploit the game, or an uneducated fool to you who desperately needs your wisdom? What is your goal in constantly correcting other people? Why can´t you just accept other opinions or wishes? What do you want, or expect from a good spotting system?

As I said before, If you really want to know what a good and realistic spotting mechanic is, just try IL2! I cannot see any artificial dots there and it overall looks supercrisp in my headset. Spotting max distance is heavily dependant on the light conditions, whether it´s a sunny day, dawn or sunset, rainy, fog, and most important; direction of the sun makes a noticeable difference. The sunrays can reflect off any surface, when the right conditions are met. Looking towards the sun isn´t the best idea be able to spot something but is still possible, if you´re lucky. Looking directly into the sun an you´re blinded for that moment. Camouflage works pretty good as well.

Canopy Glass is Flickering During Head/Zoom Movement
Turbonix replied to razo+r's topic in Bugs and Problems
What does it help if (not when) the flickering and milky canopy glass will eventually be fixed (in the Future t.m.), while spotting within the whole game is totally broken since last patch and also does get very little attention? Most VR users are going nuts because of this s**t. Including me. And ED has currently to deal with a s***load of negative comments. So don‘t overstrain them with bold requests to be looked after. The poor Anton is just double useless right now. Sad. I just won‘t bother with DCS anymore and will go back to Il2 again, where‘s no flickering, crystal clear spotting, MW50 for D9 ;), populated servers every day and much more content and quality of life stuff that DCS WWII does not support, nor is to be planned in the future. So long. -
As long as this issue isn´t fixed, DCS is dead for me too. Sad for all the time and money I´ve put into this project. I´m happy to have some alternatives. In IL2 for example spotting feels MUCH more realistic, even before the last DCS patch. And it has lots of other advantages in visual quality.. but that´s another topic And i always wanted to give MSFS a shot, maybe now its the time. so long guys.. maybe see you later maybe not

No my request is actually the opposite. I don´t want to use this visual aid feature. That would give me in fact a disadvantage over others. I simply don´t want to get bothered by these "pixel failures" in my VR headset during flight. I can understand that people in 2D, especially on higher resolution and antialiasing methods activated, need some aid in this regard. I was on 2D with headtracker on a 1440p monitor for years. But in my Quest3 headset i usually have a resolution 1.3 -1.4 with DLSS or just DLAA depending on the situation. Single pixels aren´t that small compared to 2d high res. I think that pure contact visualisation would be sufficient for me. But now it is exactly like that. Just an example: I can clearly see the dot of a contact way before the F4´s radar can even get a brick in the scope, no matter what i tell jester to set the radar up. The "advantage" is now mandatory there for everybody. If somebody wants to use it, fine. I don´t want it! there should be three options to choose from in the main menu setting: - big and blobby as it is right now to help on 2D (worst realism for VR) - smaller dots compared to above - OFF I can see that making the spotting equal for everybody on every system is hard to accomplish so let there be help for the ones who need, but don´t force it on others who are happy without.

All i hear in this thread is about spotting dots. Spotting dots size, spotting dots render distance, spotting dots color, spotting dots fading, spotting dots shining trough clouds and dust, etc... I and many others don´t want them at all. Why isn´t it possible to turn them off completely for those who don´t like the concept at all? Is this just a bug, or is this really intentional and meant to be an "improved" feature? At this point all the effort and and hundreds of hours of free time we´ve put in learning and improving our skills to find other objects in the sim by simply using visuals, GCI, AWACS, Radar and Datalink are just meaningless now. Most military planes, vehicles, equipment and personnel have some sort of a camouflaged appearance, either against the sky or against the ground. They literally DON´T want to be spotted easily. At the current state of this ridiculous spotting mechanic, i just feel disappointed and even f****d by the devs. It feels like being robbed by the own bank. We have spent lots of money for this game over the past years. For me it was approx. 1200$+ just for game content. Not considered hardware and peripherals worth 3000$+, which I mainly just bought end of last year just to enjoy this game best possible. And I even think that i´m just an average DCS player. Why does ED mess up its own work and this highly sophisticated real world simulation that much, with such an unrealistic and for me and many others game breaking "inconvenience"?
