  1. The 5 is a fine flying aircraft. Check out the Cold War online server if your inclined for hot F-5 on Mig-21 action.
  2. I'm finding that high drag bombs at 500 feet are pretty accurate. All the other modes of delivery are a crap shoot.
  3. The GZD would be prebriefed and is found in the margins of any paper maps that would be issued. My experience is on the ground side, so I don't know how aviators handle missions that straddle GZDs. MGRS is ridiculously easy to use with a bit of practice. Even a young Marine Corporal can call in a 9-line close air support request. (Just be sure to give the pilot the grid to your target and not your own grid.) Here is a nifty PDF that explains a ton about MGRS and its cousin UTM. http://earth-info.nga.mil/GandG/coordsys/mmr201.pdf
  4. Here is a new mission idea, ripped from the headlines. https://www.france24.com/en/20190204-france-chad-air-strikes-convoy-libya 40 truck convoy of Libyan militants interdicted by flight of Mirage 2000s deep in Chadian territory at the request of the Chad government.
  5. BUMP BUMP Giving this thread a bump. I would love to see this updated. I appreciate the guys that like to fly the authentic cockpits, but for me as an English speaker, I prefer all my knobs and switches to have readable labels. Looking forward to it.
  6. Same or similar problem c0ff edit 3: I completed all steps outlined in the various DCS wiki pages for troubleshooting. No joy. Performed a windows 10 reset (lose settings, keep files) and after installing the latest MS Visual C run-times, DCS works 100%. edit 2: Opened a ticket #81702. I will update here if I get some help. edit: uninstalled Bit Defender, deleted temp folder, ran repair and update. No joy. I'm have the same or similar problems. I did a clean install of DCS.openbeta with no problems. Upon initial launch, it flashes the update window and the progress bar scans left to right and then the window closes. The login screen never appears, but the DCS.exe process is visible in task manager. Any further launching from desktop flashes the update window for a split second and the DCS.exe process just gets added to the task manager. Below I have included a zip of my appdata folder. I have tried deleting the temp folder as well as the Saved Games folder. No joy. DCS.openbeta.zip
  7. new mirror for OvGME I have put together a new mirror for OvGME which includes source and binaries. I also found a copy of ModManager and attached that as well. It will not be going anywhere. If someone wants to fork and take over active development, let me know and I will transfer to you as long as we have Sedenion's approval. https://github.com/Have-Purple/ovgme
  8. Has anyone suggested that non NATO equipment also be listed with the common NATO designations? I openly admit that I am ignorant of 95% of the Russian weapons designations. Because of this, It makes identifying load-outs particularly burdensome. For example: AA-1 "Alkali" (Kaliningrad K-5) AA-2 "Atoll" (Vympel K-13) AA-3 "Anab" (Kaliningrad K-8) AA-4 "Awl" (Raduga K-9) AA-5 "Ash" (Bisnovat R-4) AA-6 "Acrid" (Bisnovat R-40) AA-7 "Apex" (Vympel R-23) AA-8 "Aphid" (Molniya R-60) AA-9 "Amos" (Vympel R-33) AA-10 "Alamo" (Vympel R-27) AA-11 "Archer" (Vympel R-73) AA-12 "Adder" (Vympel R-77) AA-X-13 "Arrow" (Vympel R-37) I'd like to argue that providing this NATO naming convention data is akin to providing English language cockpits to Russian aircraft. Is this not reasonable?:)
