I think we're all agreeing aren't we? Only the chevron should be there and not the extra white triangle. -

Good guess, but no. It doesn't move when you bank. See 11:30+ on BBQ's ILS tutorial: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75370&highlight=bbq+ils @KLaFaille Sounds like you're talking from a position of authority on the subject. Thanks for confirming that it shouldn't be there. -
What is this little white arrow for on the ADI?
latearrival replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Now you've confused me Wolf (which isn't hard!). Item 10 in the manual's decscription of the ADI says: "To the right of the scale is a white chevron that moves up and down the scale according to your position on the glide slope" On my ADI (see my picture in the first post), I can see this chevron. But there's another arrow above it. I've put this in another piccy. Are you able to tell me what the difference is between the two? Thank you -
What is this little white arrow for on the ADI?

Thanks Blue. I'll leave this thread for a day or two and see if anyone has an explanation. If not, I'll repost in Tech Support and see if it can be acknowledged as a bug. -

And I can only see a chevron on this one too: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1199340&postcount=28 And, here, with the ILS not selected on the NMSP, there is no chevron (as expected) and no little white arrow: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/4996069258_b41d602b89_o.jpg -
What is this little white arrow for on the ADI?

Exactly! I've been fixating on the damn thing when practicing my ILS landings. I'm kinda hoping it is a bug and that it might be removed one day... -
I'm still waiting for ED to release a patch for this ;)

There is a little white arrow to the left of the ADI, pointing at the Glide Slope Deviation Scale. See the screenshot. It is not the Glide Slope Indicator (the little white chevron) and it does not appear in the manual (Figure 88, Page 112 of v1.1.0.8 ), so I'm hoping one of you clever chaps would be kind enough to tell me what it is/what it is for. Thank you!

Question about log drag, high drag bomb
latearrival replied to sarancha's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi Sarancha. You don't need to say sorry to us for your English - your English is 1000 times better than our Korean! When you read about "drag" you are reading about the force that tries to slow down something (e.g. an A-10C) that is moving through a gas (e.g. air) or a fluid (e.g. water). If you put your hand out of the window of a car when it is on the freeway, the feeling of wind pushing your hand is the result of "drag". The MK-82AIR bomb has a "ballute", like a small parachute, attached to its rear (a "high drag assembly") that causes the bomb to fall slowly, due to the increased drag, allowing you to drop it at low altitudes and still have time to escape the explosion. -
Question about HUD mode vs Weapon Profile/Delivery Mode

Thanks Nate, much appreciated. I'll give it a go later. PS I hope you haven't got an early start in the morning ;) -
Question about HUD mode vs Weapon Profile/Delivery Mode
latearrival replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks Nate. I think that means I've misunderstood something fundamental  The delivery method defined in the profile is the default/preferred delivery method. This can be overridden with the master mode. Do I have that right now? -
Hi! I've searched this forum, the manual, and played around with this in-sim, but I just don't get it... If the HUD master mode is NAV, CCIP, CCRP or AIR-TO-AIR, then DMS right/left selects a weapons profile. If the weapons delivery mode (e.g. CCIP) of the selected weapons profile differs from that of the current master mode (e.g. CCRP), then the master mode automatically changes to the weapons delivery mode of the selected profile (e.g. from CCRP to CCIP). It seems to me that all I have to do to get the right master mode is to set the HUD as SOI, choose *any* master mode except GUNS, and then use DMS right/left to select the desired weapons profile (which will automatically changes the master mode to the weapons delivery mode of the selected weapons profile). So my question is, why would a pilot bother to select CCIP or CCRP or AIR-TO-AIR if the subsequently selected weapons profile is going to override that selection? (What I was expecting to happen was for the DMS right/left switch to only cycle between the weapons profiles that had the same delivery mode as the current master mode, e.g. if the master mode was set to CCIP, then DMS right/left would only allow you to choose a weapons profiles that had CCIP as the delivery mode).

Clever way to remember TMS vs China Hat commands
latearrival replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I just put a couple of hours in and I feel like I've made some progress thanks to you all. @Helios - you made it seem nice and simple, which made the whole exercise less intimidating. @Hassata - you somehow managed to make it even simpler for me than Helios. Awesome! I wish the whole manual was written like that ;) -
Clever way to remember TMS vs China Hat commands
latearrival replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
@dragon - corrected, thanks. @RR - hasn't worked for me so far! @mooshim - thank you, but it's the cheat sheet that I'm trying to wean myself off. @cichlidfan - that is exactly the sort of thing I'm after (the memory tricks not the wallpaper ;) ), thank you! -
Hi guys I'm not getting any younger and I'm really struggling to remember which HOTAS commands to use when I want to designate a target with the TGP and launch a Maverick. There's a reason pilots start their training young, right! I have the sequence of commands written down, I understand the principles behind what's going on (sort of!), and I'm ok with the Coolie Hat and DMS. But I'll be damned if I can remember when to use TMS vs China, short vs long! I thought one of you clever blokes might be able to help. Does anyone have a way to help me remember the TMS and China Hat commands that I need so that I don't have to keep referring to my notes? The things that I keep having to turn to my notes for are: China Aft Long - Slave TGP to steerpoint ### TGP to SOI ### TMS Fwd Short - TGP to point track mode TMS Fwd Long - Make SPI China Fwd Long - Slave all to SPI ### MAV to SOI ### TMS Fwd Short - MAV lock TMS Aft Short - Mav ground stabilise At this rate it's going to be years before this becomes muscle memory for me! Thanks

Has anyone else seen two suns like this? It's not all the time and it's only since the 1.1.0.8 upgrade.

Can someone share their TrackIR 5 profile?
latearrival replied to jpanside's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1172356&postcount=7. I find mine pretty smooth. I tried to optimise it for 'peering' - it is quite sensitive to leaning forward to look at an MFCD. The only time I have problems is if there's bright light behind me, the TIR camera is not angled correctly, or when my wine/beer glass passes between the clip and the camera on the way to/from my mouth ;) -
@Machinist - you hadn't previously applied Nate's bass boost mod had you? Nate described it here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1172356&postcount=7 and you could downloaded it from here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1172356&postcount=7 @Nate - I had previously used your mod and thought the sim sounded better. Do you know if it will still work in 1.1.0.8?

Being a psychologist I have a lot of RL experience with the Placebo Effect. It is my professional opinion that Yo Yo has not quite got the effect modelled correctly . I'm looking forward to seeing how close to real life he can make it in 1.1.0.9.

Great question Kaiza and great info Crunch. Brilliant, thank you! I always wanted to know this too but never got around to it. Looking forward to seeing how close this info is for the A-10C...

How To Open (.rar) and (.lua) files in Windows 7 ?
latearrival replied to ErichVon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
@Kankkis. Yes, you are right in that the software doesn't force you to buy it. However, the license agreement requires that you purchase it if you want to continue using it beyond 40 days. You can read that here under "Section 6 The "Try Before You Buy" Model": http://www.win-rar.com/gtb_priv.html I myself prefer WinRAR to 7-Zip, mostly out of loyalty. If you like to support independent software publishers you really should buy it. -
How To Open (.rar) and (.lua) files in Windows 7 ?
latearrival replied to ErichVon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
7-Zip is genuinely free (open source), but WinRAR is free for 40 days after that you need to buy a license. Both are good. 7-zip is slower at compressing, but compresses to a smaller size. WinRAR is quicker. Both are stable.
