  1. Like Gunfighter said, the -10 answer isn't always the "right" answer. Those numbers are partly arbitrary*. In the UH60 -10 there are airspeed limitations that you will never ever come close to if you tried. There's a lot that goes into the actual "VNE" (By that I mean airspeed the helicopter cannot exceed, no matter how hard you push it); like temperature, altitude and overall weight.
  2. I was always told that unless it is a paved surface or proven otherwise, assume its a slope.
  3. When ever you're not doing a roll-on, your wheel brakes should be set. Especially if you're landing on an unimproved surface.
  4. -LFxTWdnTCY
  5. Annoying indeed...
  6. The fuel gauge uses AC power from the inverter. You're supposed to turn the inverter on once the engine is at idle, per the checklist. Though you can turn the inverter on before that and things will work, draining your battery faster of course. I'm not sure if this is how it is in the real thing though.
  7. TM Warthog, removed large spring from the stick, no curves or dead zone. Saitek pro flight combat pedals, curves/dead zone same as above. Works like a charm.
  8. UH1W? You mean UH1N or AH1W? I'm thoroughly confused...
  9. I haven't had that problem.
  10. I have a Warthog and the only thing I did was take out that big spring, like in this video. Otherwise, I don't have any profiles or curves/deadzones. I don't know why you would need them, the sim is designed to be used without them. :music_whistling:
  11. The Fuel switch gets power from the DC Essential bus (Battery). Once you turn the battery off, it gets no power and ceases to function. The Governor and fuel Boost pumps (controlled by the fuel sw. as well) also operate on the DC Ess. bus which means they should turn off when battery power is lost. That being said, the engine has a fuel pump built into it. In other words the engine will continue to run until there is no more fuel or air. :smartass:
  12. No, too much classified stuff. The absolute best you'd get is an Alpha model Apache, which would be pretty sweet, don't get me wrong. I personally want to see a blackhawk. It is a much more interesting and diverse mission set including Air assault, Sling loads, Medevac, even attack. Plus it handles better and flies faster. :music_whistling:
  13. Any aircraft with a mixing unit or any kind of SAS (IE any modern aircraft, fixed or rotary) would need force feedback on everything, pedals, cyclic and collective. Take the blackhawk for example, with the mixing unit you cannot move the cyclic to the right very far without it forcing the collective down and moving the pedals as well.
  14. Have you tried turning the generator switch, next to the battery Sw, from STBY to Starter? The engine won't start otherwise.
  15. Looks like you're right.
  16. Anti-collision lights shouldn't illuminate the cockpit, too much metal in the way. :p One thing that's irked me about the huey was the way the Anti-collision lights are rendered. They should blink, not spin.
  17. All the inverter does is provide AC power to the avionics. The problem is your throttle is in the off position.
  18. It's SOP for crew chiefs to get out during ground refueling. Fire hazard and pilots need to be able to shut down if need be. They should be getting in afterward, though.
  19. Slick version of the huey still works for me. Haven't tried the Hip though.
  20. Per the -10, you're not supposed to turn the governor on or off at anything but idle. And in the MTP manual it makes a point to tell you to roll off to idle before switching the governor to EMER or AUTO. I recommend going through the MTF start-up procedure, you'll see all the little subtle things that BST put in that you don't normally notice, like the Bleed band opening and closing. :book:
  21. Agreed, Would be nice for another check box for them.
  22. Community made maps maybe?
  23. Those aren't antennas, those are wire cutters. It isn't uncommon for Hueys to not have the cutters.
  24. Is it bouncing up and down? Or is it staying like that? If the wind is strong enough, it'll bounce that high if not tied down. (And break stuff in the process)
  25. A dream come true, even better than Take on Helicopters. :D I miss home, I need to go on leave.
