dev should make pilot models not wearing helmets (chooseable in ME or F10)

Never seen it/not gonna go back and forth with you on it. There should be F10 option to remove so you can do your British thing.

Your comments here are insulting many people and with relatively low knowledge of the subject.

If you don't care, the developer doesn't care either.

The best you can do is politely ask, that's all.

You even marked your reply as resolved. That's really lol. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  2. Can you (since we already have the helmet) also add a sun visor (on/off) for the player's seat in the C-130J?

Of course, this may depend on the type of helmet, but simply putting on or taking off the sunvisor (with a darker screen effect) is also a good option. Some modules have this, such as the F-15E and MiG-29A FF, and other DCS modules will soon have this option.

    Example of animation from MiG-29:

Btw. Of course, it must be VR-compatible, as with other modules. Some also have animation (hand movement).

The logic here might be quite simple:

    - NVG present on helmet - no sun visor (but glasses are possible on/off)
    - NVG removed from helmet - sun visor present on/off

All i wanted to do was to correct the record from the first comment, which was very inaccurate, especially for combat.

    So see this:

They wear them, they wear them. This is evident in most videos related to night flying (due to the NVGs), but not only that, they are also used during the day because of the sun visor as well. For example, Hercules pilots wore helmets in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Of course, I'm not saying that 100% or most flights can be conducted without a helmet, especially in fully controlled and relatively safe conditions, but it's always a protection in the event of a hit and a forced landing. Therefore, it's not a mistake that the ASC designed the crew to wear helmets, although, as I wrote, it would have been nice to have the option of having the crew in the cockpit without them.

Hi. I haven't used this mod, but I have a question – I'm wondering about the multiplaye. If I set up a server with the mod's weather set, will other users also see the new weather setting even if they havent this mod (the mod uses what DCS offers), or will they see a different weather (without the mod).

I found the answer, no, it doesnt work in this way:

    pity 🥲...

  6. It was tested as well in VR mode (whole procedures)? I see the Hercules has new interactive card elements. How does this work in VR? Can you click on it? Or maybe you just look at the area and press accept button (similar to Jester's orders in the F-4E, or the F-14 from HB)?

  7. Hi,

will it be possible to see the pilots' bodies in 3D in VR (including your own body as an on/off switch?)? Something like in many modules (a relatively good example, maybe not quality because it's an old module, would be the Mi-8, which also has a 3-person crew in the cockpit).

    Helmets mess up their hair.

I'm a civ (former Air Wing Marine) employee of a company currently working at Davis Monthan with a C-130 unit. USAF Herk bubbas don't wear helmets. Marine Corps Herk pilots don't either. Not even the Blue Angels Fat Albert guys and they are slamming that airplane around every demo. Please get rid of the helmets on the pilot models. You made a beautiful airplane but I just watched Ralfidude's video and it's the first thing I saw because it's the most unrealistic possible. Give them medium reg haircuts (with product) and David Clark headsets. Make it realistic.

There are countless examples. They do carry them, and it may be required, especially during combat missions (and DCS is a combat simulator, right?). For MSFS, this might be strange, but for DCS, it's not.

However, I agree that it would be nice to have the option of wearing a helmet or not. That is, having the pilots' heads, without helmets, wearing only headsets.

Of course, this would probably require some changes (and contrary to appearances, modeling a human is one of the most difficult elements in 3D graphics combined with simulation), but it's possible. @ASC, maybe it's worth considering this option for users too?

I think it's too early for ED to tell us about new maps, especially with the final Afghanistan expansion and two Iraq expansions still to come. Perhaps we can say that the only map we could expect an announcement on is the next WW2 map, with the release of Marianas WW2, and something tells me that will be a Channel 2.0 map, given the Battle of Britain (Nick Grey's plans for Bob's modules after the F6F Hellcat and WW2 PTO are just around the corner).

What modules is ED possibly working on right now? Very possibly (I'd have to check Wags' statements). The only ones are rumors from ORBX, something tells me it's the Baltic map south of the Kola, and the "teaser" for the Balkans map by OnReTech. And of Course the missing 2 expansions of Cold War Germany by UgraMedia. The North Australia map was banised by the 3rd party close.

You're right, there was indeed talk of the Balkans once by OnReTech, and I also think ORBX might surprise us with something else (+1 for Baltic region). Thanks.

Okay, gentlemen. We're talking about future plans here, and all we can do now is wait and hope that this will also be implemented in older DLCs. The question remains: has anyone tried messing with the appropriate image file and if so, did it yield any results? Is simply replacing the file sufficient, or do I need to make some changes to the .lua file? I wish I could make this modification for myself.

Its not only the file. File and programming is absent.

  11. I'm thinking that currently (at least as far as announcements go) there's nothing new on the table. It seems no one is working on a new map for DCS. Iraq and Marianas WWII was the last one (of course, updates also apply to Germany, Iraq, and Afghanistan), but there's no word on a new map. Any leaks? 😉

I don't mind if something were to finally happen with Vietnam or Korea, like here:

As I said, the MiG-29 9.12A will be the first ED module to have working visors. You can see this for yourself on the footage taken at latest Flight Sim Expo. It's also been confirmed by ED.

Correct. It worked here (however no hand animation like video before). WiP perhaps still.

This is by design. None of the ED modules have a working sunvisor despite several of their modules having one IRL by default (F-16 and -18, but several levels of tint are available for RL helmets apparently). The later modules all have working animations for raising/lowering the visor without it having any effect.
The community has been asking for this for over 8 years now, and ED has always ignored such requests, locked the threads or moved them to a different part of the forum.

Now things are changing: the upcoming MiG-29 will have a working visor, and ED have hinted at the technology being ported over to their other modules. This is what they said as a reply to my question on FB for example:

    image.png

Nice found, btw. MiG-29A FF maybe will have sunvisor but now (in the latest promo video from near 2 months ago) its only animation, no any „darker” effect. Maybe at release they will finish it, who knows?

If you check other sites, you'll notice that some haven't been updated for some time. It's best to follow the English version.

Would it be helpful if @Someone from the ASC guys (pun intended) clarified whether they signed contracts that prevent them from being another VEAO or RB in the worst case?

    See this statement:

I understand some concerns, but I believe they are unfounded. This is a completely different publisher than Razbam, with its aspirations. Yes, there's always a certain risk, and that can't be ignored. Perhaps ED should provide greater protection for users, for example, by ensuring their product is supported for at least six years from release, and if such support isn't provided, a refund in ED miles is offered as standard procedure? It might be worth thinking about it for modules of 3rd party devs, because I see that some people have some concerns.

I would say they under-promised and over-delivered.  They've said "by the end of 2025" many times.  Reading between the lines on what they've posted over time, I've always assumed it was going to be sooner than that and they were making sure they didn't miss a date.

Often it works the other way around, i.e. you have a specific period and you have to add another quarter or more to it. If it’s the other way around in this case everyone will be pleasantly surprised.
