  1. Google this. I'm in the same boat you are and came here looking for some insight. Several answers but no data to back up comparisons between the different platforms. A quick google search resulted in several comparisons between cards and games. At a quick glance I didn't see any that used DCS as one of their benchmarks, but most use 10 or so popular VR games to compare the cards. It's a good place to start.
  2. My FOV (zoom) was assigned to a slider on my Warthog throttle... :D
  3. Replacing some hardware and did a complete reinstall, which I've done several times over the years... This time this is what I'm presented with every time I start the game. No matter what I do to change the resolution, I can't get the full cockpit image. I've changed to an old custom monitor LUA file, reverted back to the stock one. Deleted the options.lua, unplugged my other 3 monitors from the video card, different planes, checked full screen, unchecked full screen, etc... My monitor is set to 1920x1200. Tried that res and different resolutions in game and on my PC. Nothing helps.. Any suggestions?? Attached my options.lua as well.... options.lua 1Camera.lua
  4. Ya, as I said in the original post, I was just installing BS1 so I could activate my BS2 update module. Purchased BS2 back in 2012, just doing a reinstall... At any rate, I like playing old games too. I have several computers running different OS's from a 5160 running DOS 3.x to my gaming rig running Windows 7. EF2000, USNF, Flanker, F-15 Strike Eagle, Falcon 4, and many others I have running on vintage hardware with original floppies/CD's/DVD's etc. None of these programs give me any fuss when I need to reinstall them. The newer modules do regenerate an activation after you use up your initial set of activations, but the old standalone games , and Andrey Filin reiterated this in a follow-up post, if I use up this last set of activations on the original BS1, It's done. Hey, Vinyl is making a comeback. Maybe boxed games with printed manuals aren't too far off either. Eh, probably never see another game released with a 3-ring-binder manual like Falcon 4.
  5. Bought Black Shark back in 2009. Ive gone through the activations with the original serial number and one subsequent serial number. I was trying to install it once again just so I can activate my DCS world Black Skark II and it seems that the 2nd serial number that I received was out of activations. So I asked for a new serial number and received the following reply from Andrey Filin. here is a new serial number for BS1 download version: XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX it is the second time we gave you BS1 key from DCS E-shop. This time it's the last time. So don't forget to properly deactivate your DCS software/modules or you'll lose your purchases. OUCH!!!
  6. Why the picture from Algonquin College Optophotonics Lab's website? Confused...
  7. I had the Rift Dk2. Sold it on eBay a couple days ago. Made about $150 profit after fees so I'm happy. The VR experience was better than I expected. 3D effect was, you just have to try it. Amazing really. Drawback was the resolution. Once they get that fixed I'll buy another. As of now I'm much happier with my TrackIR 5
  8. I've got 2 Nvidia GTX 285's in SLI. Fired up the game the other day and was only getting about 30FPS. Checked my settings and SLI was disabled. EVGA Precision was also only showing one GPU being utilized. Enabled SLI, restarted the game, and in the exact same mission I was getting 60 FPS. So yes, SLI does make a difference in this game. Maybe it's less noticeable with newer cards, but with my generation of cards it makes a big difference. Both of my GPU's are nearly pegged during game play. Here's a couple screen caps to show the difference... Single - EVGA precision shows GPU 1 maxed out, GPU2 isn't being touched. FPS is at 31 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8575186/single.jpg SLI - Both GPU's maxed out. FPS is 57 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8575186/SLI.jpg On my system at least, the graphics card is holding me back. As you can see, the CPU isn't being thrashed at all. And interestingly enough, it seems that SLI enabled or not, both cards are utilizing nearly all of their ram. Just noticed that. As I sit here typing this They are only using about 150MB. But in each configuration during game play they are nearly maxed out.
  9. Much appreciated on the clarificatin Wichid. Thanks!
  10. School has been a killer the last, well forever. So imagine my excitement when I get online and find the P-51 'expansion' has been released. Jumped on that and the Black Shark 2 upgrade. Joy! From what I Read the BS2 module for DCS world for those of us with the upgrade version is 'coming soon', yes? I've got the A-10 module working fine... Thanks DCS!!!!!! You guys totally and completely rock!!!
  11. Did you install the "Open beta of A-10C module for DCS: World." http://tinyurl.com/8yg4cwd (English download version)
  12. Great Work!!!!
  13. Why isn't there a "deactivate" option in the DCS A-10 folder? Or Why isn't Deactivation an option during uninstall? If we have to deal with a countdown it'd be nice to have a simple way from the game folder to deactivate the game if need be.
  14. Windows 7 x64
