  1. Have just finished downloading the whole lot using the FTP links (1st USA server, and I'm in UK) - on average I was getting between 200-500kbs and it took about 4.5hrs. Worth a try if you're having no luck with the torrent (I don't have a client anyway, so FTP was the only option for me). .... and (would you believe) I'm not even going to install it - busy day at work tomorrow and I know if I do it'll be gone 1am before I go to bed. How's that for will-power :music_whistling: Tomorrow's going to drag though.....
  2. Not fair! Got about 700MB through the first 1.6G download (on ftp) then got a failure. Not able to restart - getting "too many users" errors. Methinks I need to check out this torrent thingy....
  3. Thanks Kottara :)
  4. Thanks Spetz - yes I spotted this the other day - fixed in V1.1 (uploaded to the SCS thread) but I couldn't be bothered to re-do the screenshots. Thanks. Helios is such a great tool - endless possibilities...
  5. Hi hassata - unfortunately it's not straightforward without saved views working in the sim - to get these snap views I went through lots of trial and error until they were about right (editing the file, running up the sim to test, rinse and repeat). You could try doing the same to get exactly the view you want, or perhaps wait until Beta 6 (which I hope will have fixed the saved views problem).
  6. This doesn't work if you have Track-IR switched on (but you can pause it and then zoom with the keypad I think).
  7. Many thanks Greg - yep Helios is just so powerful - they've done a great job with it. NB. Just added a ZIP file containing all the check-list panels in JPEG for printing as some people were requesting - see top of thread.
  8. Thanks guys :) No worries dwpenney -that's half the point of uploading them - anyone is free to re-use and adapt them. Just let me know if you make any improvements, fix bugs etc. so that I can fix my own profile.
  9. I've just uploaded a new A-10C profile to the SCS site: http://www.scsimulations.com/forums/showthread.php?942-DCS-A-10C-Profile-with-Interactive-Checklists&p=5740#post5740 This profile is based on Gadroc's excellent A-10C profile, but adapted to allow switching on a single monitor (I only have 2 monitors, not 3 or 4!). Whilst creating the profile I realised I could also add check-lists, so this profile also includes 6 interactive check-list panels that (where possible/appropriate) show your progress based on the actual state of the aircraft. The check-lists cover: - aircraft start-up/taxi/take-off - AA refuelling - JTAC flow - Caution Info (not really a check-list - just info on what the caution lights mean) - Approach/Landing - Taxi/Shutdown The main panel includes 6 switch-able sub-panels covering: - Flight instruments - Environment/Electrical/SAS - Fuel/LASTE/Aux - Comms - CDU - Armament & Countermeasures The CDU panel also includes an information panel giving hints about the various CDU functions (I still find the damn thing so complicated that I need some help when using it!). To the lower left of the main panel (on Monitor 2) is a control panel with buttons that allow panel switching and display of the check-lists. The check-lists are toggle buttons, so you just press the same button again to remove them. There's also a caution panel pop-up linked to the unused TM Warthog pinky lever on the stick. If you have a different stick you'll need to remap that. I've done my best to debug the profile but producing the check-lists was a lot of work so it hasn't had extensive testing (but I was keen to post it rather than wait) - if you find problems please post back to the SCS thread (link at the top) and I'll do my best to fix them. The check-lists aren't perfect yet (either in content or function) - but they're better than nothing. The zip file also includes the A-10C display profile used to get the MFCDs to appear correctly in the main panel. My monitors are both 1280x1024, so the display profile is 2560x1024. Obviously you'll need to adapt if you have different resolutions. Final note: I don't have a touch-screen display so these are designed more for use with a mouse (i.e. control size may be too small for touch screens in some cases). EDIT 14.02.2010: Added a zip containing JPEGs of just the checklist panels for printing if you don't have Helios. This includes a new Stores panel added in V1.1 of the profile. 10. You can if you use RCntrl-Num0 first. Then you can press the Num keys corresponding to the view you want (i.e. you don't have to press and hold) and the view stays fixed until you press Num0 again (after which TrackIR comes back). Switches work fine for me doing it this way.
  11. I had the same problem with TrackIR, and whilst the centering work-around does do the trick it's tedious to have to keep resetting it. So I ended up creating (what are better for me) snap views which focus on the instruments. Details here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=66617
  12. Despite having a TrackIR4 I still have difficulty seeing some of the panels properly and often push the tracker to its limits (which then ends up with tracking errors where the cockpit spins all over the place). I also find it really difficult to read the caution panel properly (being the wrong side of 40 doesn't help :() so set out trying to re-define at least one view to deal with that. Note: This is with thanks to BoredTechie's post on how to define your own custom snap-views - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62820. It was a bit tedious with lots of trial and error - hoping that they fix the view saving feature soon. Per that earlier thread, you need to backup the following files .\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\View\View.lua .\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua then edit the first one and change this line as follows: UseDefaultSnapViews = false Once you've done that edit the SnapViews.lua file and replace the Snap[11] entries with the ones I've given below. Per the earlier thread, make sure you don't use Notepad for this as it will wreck the lua file - use Notepad++ or similar (I used gvim). Some of the views are just the old ones moved around, but there are 6 new ones that focus more on instruments - the default MFD views were too large for my liking (and I've got them configured on a 2nd monitor anyway). 1 - Emergency Panel / VHF/UHF Radios (same as default) 2 - CDU / Caution / Electrical Panels 3 - TACAN / ILS / Environmental Panels 4 - Fuel / Aux Lighting / Throttle / SAS / IFF Panels 5 - HUD (same as default) 6 - Zoomed Caution Panel / CMSP 7 - Left MDF / Gear / Flaps / Armament HUD Cntrl Panel / Standby Instruments / HSI / ADI / Threat Warning 8 - Above (same as default) 9 - Right MFD / Engine & APU Gauges / Hydraulic & Fuel Guages I've mapped the zoomed caution panel to the unused pinky switch on the Warthog stick which really helps in the thick of it when you get a Master Caution light.
