Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS Update Development Progress We released a new update to DCS this week that included important updates to both the DCS Core and many modules and campaigns. You can find the complete changelog. DCS Core AI aircraft received numerous improvements such as consideration of obstacles and other aircraft when takeoff, landing, and taxiing; correction of the S-3 B refueling lights; improved formation keeping for World War II aircraft; and more. Ground unit AI also saw improvements with JTAC infrared point designations; many AAA sound enhancements; and new desert liveries to name a few. There were naval improvements like fixing the Close-In Weapon System (CWIS) and a livery fix. In addition to a lot of attention to the AI, the weapons saw improvements like elimination of Maverick camera shake, Hellfire accuracy improvements, more accurate guidance method for the SA-11, general flare resistance for many seekers, and other weapon changes to create enhanced accuracy and realism. F-16C and F/A-18C Both flagship modules saw improvements like eliminating the F-16C radar override crash, improved radar control and tracking, continued adjustment to the recently added false targets, and other items. The F/A-18C saw corrections to air-to-ground Expand mode scanning, changes to coupled autopilot, and fixing the video display from the Walleye to the datalink pod. AH-64D This update saw further improvements to VRS entry feedback, fixed two crashes, added the ability for George to target inactivated units and engage units when fog is set to AUTO, and corrected FCR RF handover to the CPG. The wheel chocks also received a texture and we improved other avionics systems. F-5E Following its recent release, we were pleased to add seven new liveries, made corrections to both the 3D model and textures to better match the liveries, corrected formation lights, provided a texture template, and other improvements. There are of course many other improvements, fixes, and new additions in this update for the Mi-24P, Mi-MTV2, Flaming Cliffs 2024, many of our third party partner aircraft and campaign developers. G.91 Development Progress The Fiat G.91, also known as "Gina," was an Italian tactical support and reconnaissance aircraft developed in the 1950s. Operated also by Germany and Portugal, it made a significant mark on military aviation history. The G.91A version that was chosen by the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team became famous for its spectacular execution of the "bomb" maneuver, characterized by high-speed passes just a few meters above the ground. Operationally, the G.91 was used by Portugal during the Colonial War where it played a crucial role in Angola and Mozambique. IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulations is currently developing four versions of the G.91 for DCS: the G-91A, R-1B, R-3, and R-4. All of these are aimed at delivering an accurate and faithful representation in every detail. Graphics In 2024, IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulations focused extensively on redesigning the cockpit to meet the highest standards. The next step will be an additional external model revision for even further improvements. Flight Model The G.91 flight model is being developed using the panel method philosophy, dividing aerodynamic surfaces (such as wings and tailplanes) into smaller sections. Forces and moments are calculated for each section, ensuring an extremely realistic simulation in all flight conditions. Aerodynamic data is derived from the aircraft's authentic profiles, while performance data comes directly from the operational manual of the Bristol Siddeley Orpheus engine. This approach makes the G.91’s flight model even more advanced than the excellent MB-339. Systems The G.91’s systems are entirely based on operation and maintenance manuals. Key features include separate load bars, pumps, accumulators, bypass valves, oxygen systems, and more that will ensure an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy. Weapons IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulations has already implemented most of the weapons used by the G.91, including all fundamental parameters for the AS-20 Nord missile. With DCS: G.91R, IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulations aims to deliver the most accurate reproduction of this rare and iconic aircraft ever created for a flight simulator. Please stay tuned for more information on this exciting new addition to DCS. 17 January 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Our traditional yearly showcase of what’s on the horizon is out at last. Check out the video, we hope you will enjoy it. Thank you! Watch now! We have prepared a tire-strut suspension modelling white paper that focuses on the current development of our advanced tire and suspension physics. Our aim is to improve a far more realistic look and feel and deliver a more true to life taxi, takeoff and landing experience. The winners of the DCS: Mi-24P Hind livery competition are in! We are pleased to present you with 3 winners and 8 runners up. Check out the details below. Thank you to all participants, we look forward to seeing you in the next one. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics 2025 and Beyond A Look Ahead 2025 promises to be a busy and exciting year for Eagle Dynamics, with the continued improvement of DCS Core, the enhancement of existing modules, and the launch of new and valuable products. Along with our 3rd party affiliates, we aim to elevate DCS to new heights and we hope that this video offers a good glimpse into some of the exciting things we are up to. While several of the products featured will be released in 2025, the video also focuses on our development priorities and objectives, many of which such as Dynamic Campaign, have been in the works for far longer than planned, draining more resources than expected, and sometimes creating frustration for many. This seems to be a constant with technology and engineering projects the world over and ‘par for the course’. But as we push the envelope and seek to achieve ever higher levels of realism and authenticity, we promise to do our very best to meet your expectations. Thank you for standing with us and for helping us improve and grow DCS, and thank you for your understanding and support as we move onwards and upwards. Landing Gear Modelling Development Progress Previously relying on a simplified single-component system, our team has transitioned to a two-component model (strut and tire), solving complex second-order nonlinear differential equations to replicate real-world suspension behavior. The new model supports various suspension types, such as oleo-pneumatic, rubber stack, and spring-oleo systems, allowing high-precision tuning using drop-test data. A specialized tool was developed to simulate drop tests, ensuring accuracy in energy absorption, displacement, and force metrics. Tests based on real-world Mi-38 helicopters and WWII-era Bf-109E warbird undercarriage performance demonstrate the model's versatility when compared to similar aircraft in DCS (the Mi-8 and Bf-109K-4), even when dealing with conflicting reference data. These advancements allow for realistic suspension behavior across multiple aircraft types, enhancing the overall flight model fidelity. Please read about the extensive development process behind the new suspension model in the Tire Strut Suspension Modelling white paper. Mi-24P Hind Livery competition Please join us in congratulating the winners of the Mi-24P Hind Livery Competition! While our original plan was to select just three winners, the outstanding quality of so many submissions has led us to include more. Check out the winners below: Top Three Winners German Democratic Republic (GDR) Mi-24P, No. 361 - 100,000 ED Miles + 1 Free Eagle Dynamics Module Soviet Bagram - 50,000 ED Miles CZ Livery - 25,000 ED Miles Runner-Ups (Each Awarded 15,000 ED Miles) German Democratic Republic (GDR) post-unification Mi-24P, No. 361 US Coast Guard (Fictional) Bagram Soviet Schmerle Mi-24P – Polish 49 PŚB (49th Assault Helicopter Regiment) Mi-24P – Polish 56 BLot (56th Aviation Base) Bulgarian Air Force Bort 129 Mi-24P Azerbaijan Army 1993 Egyptian Air Force A huge thank you to everyone who participated, your continued passion and support drives the development of your DCS. We look forward to bringing you many more in the future. DCS Update Development Progress In the most recent update to DCS Core, the “improved spotting dots” option has been replaced by a new Spotting Dots setting. This feature can be toggled Off or set to Auto, 1 Pixel, or 2 Pixels, and it can also be enforced through the Mission Editor. When peripheral VR quad views are active, the spotting dot size will default to 1 pixel. Mission Editor functionality has been expanded. New triggers allow for toggling individual drawings on or off. Unloading multiple cargo items at once is now supported, and an error causing the display of non-cargo objects in the radio menu has been corrected. Issues related to multi-selection tools, rotating units, and loading templates have also been resolved. For the full list of changes, please read the full changelog. The DCS: F-16C Viper has received noteworthy improvements to its heads-up display (HUD), flight model, and radar behavior. The HUD’s Limited Refresh Rate now updates airspeed, altitude, and acceleration at fixed intervals, making fast-changing parameters correctly skip values. Based on user feedback, corrections to excessive energy loss at higher angles of attack and slower speeds have been introduced, with further work planned for high-speed regimes. Deep stall issues have been addressed, along with yaw behavior during roll inputs in landing configurations. Various radar bugs have been fixed, including trackfile behavior in STT, TWS altitude rounding discrepancies, and lock range in ACM Bore mode. External fuel transfer now functions even if AIR SOURCE is set to RAM, and a flicker in the CCIP aiming marks has been eliminated. The developers have also released a revised Early Access Guide with new chapters on navigation and tactical employment, plus updates to the radio communications and datalink sections. The DCS: F/A-18C benefits from fixes to weapons avionics crashes, the addition of gray-scale (will still appear green despite name) ground radar maps, and resolution of several texture and INS configuration errors. The DCS: AH-64D has undergone a range of flight model improvements to make yaw control less sensitive, adjust rotor thrust at low speeds, and refine the vortex-ring state (VRS) condition that is accompanied by new visual and audio warnings. Minor rotor cone animation issues have been addressed, SCAS drift during hover has been corrected, and the interface for George AI has been enhanced to assist color-blind players. Multiple small bugs, including incorrect TADS camera clipping and error messages for en-route distances, have also been fixed. The DCS: CH-47F has seen a range of additions: new trimmer options, windshield wipers, corrected LCT schedule, and improved Cyclic Stick position for air start. The crew animation speed has been raised when switching seats, and numerous fixes address engine repairs, IR strobe patterns, and ramp visualization. The DCS: Supercarrier update addresses several issues with AI taxiing, deck crew animations, and spawn logic. Directors should no longer repeat “stop” gestures excessively, and wheel chocks function correctly after teleporting to the hangar. Catapult launching logic has also been improved. Despite these updates, a known issue persists regarding the “disable deck crew” option not functioning properly unless it is set beforehand in the general settings. The newly remastered DCS: F-5E includes cockpit shake and vibration animations, wingtip oscillation at high AOA, and updated LERX vapor effects. RWR dimmer controls, service hatch panels, parking lot static aircraft placements, and theme loading pictures have all been adjusted. Happy New Year Warm wishes We wish you soaring spirits and skies full of cheer this holiday season. From everyone at Eagle Dynamics, may your days be filled with joy, love, and good health. Stay safe, enjoy the festivities, and here’s to reaching new heights together in the year ahead. Happy New Year! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

We look forward to soaring onwards and upwards into the New Year together! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Winter Sale Up to 50% discount Now is the time to expand your hangar and sharpen your combat skills with new aircraft, terrains, and campaigns! Until the 6th of January 15:00 GMT enjoy deep discounts on a wide range of our most popular modules! The DCS Steam Edition Winter Sale is now on until the 2nd of January at 18:00 GMT. Enjoy! MiG-29A Fulcrum Development Progress The primary MiG-29A development efforts are focused on the design of the external model, cockpit, avionics, and general aircraft systems. The DCS: MiG-29A is our first aircraft based on photogrammetry. The cockpit reference aircraft is located in Aircraft Museum Kosice, and we greatly appreciate their generous assistance. The textures and geometry of the new cockpit have been created from scratch, using new technologies that include high-polygon models for baking-in normal maps. This technique has provided many quality improvements whilst also presenting plenty of challenges. We generated a huge number of photos and videos of the aircraft, and we completely reworked the external model. Based on this reference data and factory diagrams, we were able to include an exceptional level of detail for items such as surface materials and treatment, rivets, screws, and panel joints. The new normal map reflects the structure of the aircraft skin to a high degree of accuracy, with texture resolution increased by 400%. A lot of work has been completed on avionics and systems, including the Optical Laser System (OLS), which is an important component of the MiG-29 targeting suite. Its main elements are the InfraRed Search and Track (IRST) system and laser range finder. Most of the air-to-air targeting modes are progressing well and nearing completion. The gun sight development was not a trivial task, with a complex simulation of both the tracked-target mode and the non-tracked, “funnel” mode. The gun sights have been significantly redesigned for a highly accurate representation of the real unit. A new mode has been added which was designed to engage invisible aerial targets in cloud, haze or at night with the gun. Weapon modes for engaging ground targets with rockets and guns at fixed and moving targets in the presence of wind are in active development. We have also scheduled the development of the basic bombing modes in the near term. We have totally recreated the Fire Control Radar (FCR) architecture and the main modes. After primary work on the OLS and FCR is complete, we will model the interaction between the OLS and the FCR. The SPO-15LM radar warning receiver, also known as Product L006LM, has been completely rewritten. The new SPO-15 uses the same physics-based approach as the SPO-10, but with greater attention being paid to its second iteration of directivity patterns for transmitting and receiving antennas. The latter being of particularly high importance to Soviet RWR designs due to the independent processing of an output from each azimuth sector antenna. Additionally, the database has been expanded, with each radar having a unique signature in terms of signal properties and with the properties themselves covering additional details. Thanks to these improvements, the new SPO-15 can be modelled to closely emulate the algorithms used in the real system, and it simulates many of its real-life quirks and limitations. Pilots will find themselves having to pay attention to these limitations to utilize its full potential. These include, but are not limited to, non-linear range indications that will properly display the signal power, blinding by high power radars, and many cases of incorrect threat type determination due to limited resolution with which the signal parameters are measured. This depth and accuracy of the simulations will make our new implementation of SPO-15 in DCS the most realistic and detailed simulation of this system of any PC simulator. A Mission Editor data programming panel is being developed for the navigation system. This will allow you to program the flight before the start of the mission and use this program in flight. Access to the panel and modification of data will be possible during the simulation, when the aircraft is on the ground. We are developing the MiG-29A INS and its interaction with the navigation system. Special attention is being paid to the modes of ground INS alignment and its accuracy and drift in flight. This will be affected by the alignment mode and the presence or absence of radio correction from the programmed beacon. Work remains on the Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) system, but we'll release the core functionality of IFF at early access, and then continue to work on the more advanced IFF features. Aircraft systems are being added and refined to a deep level of functionality. This includes the new hydraulic and electrical system, procedures and physics of engine startup and shutdown, expansion and reconfiguration of automatic control systems. Numerous new modes are also being introduced, and transients are being improved. Merry Christmas Happy holidays! In the spirit of the upcoming Christmas holiday, we wish you calm winds, clear horizons, and treasured moments with friends and loved ones. May your hangars be full, your aircraft finely tuned, and your upcoming sorties filled with excitement and discovery. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

13 December 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, This week we released the highly anticipated Iraq map into early access. This is a great addition to DCS and represents one of the most important combat theaters of the late-20th and early 21st centuries. The Iraq map captures the rich history, diverse geography, and pivotal battlefields of the region. The focus of this initial, Northern region, is provided to support missions and campaigns mainly pertaining to the Global War on Terror and ISIS. Later, the Southern region will be added to support Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Watch the Iraq launch trailer! In parallel to Iraq map development, our separate Afghanistan map team has been working hard on updating and improving Afghanistan Southwest and adding the new Eastern region. Based on your feedback and lessons learned from the Southwest region, we have enhanced and polished ground textures, improved vector data on and around airfields, re-detailed taxiways and logistics scenes, and provided more advanced surface normal mapping. Additionally, many unique 3D models for Kabul and updated crash models for static and civilian vehicles are being implemented to increase immersion. Please check out the details below. The release of the Iraq map is part of an intermediate DCS Update created primarily for the new map. However, there are many additional stability and quality improvements across multiple modules. For DCS Core, VR controller issues and resource synchronisation bugs have been fixed. The CH-47F’s multi-crew engine shutdown issue has been resolved, and the Supercarrier no longer launches flares when players attempt unauthorized landings. The Mirage F1 has received numerous avionics, cockpit, lighting, radar, and payload enhancements to add and improve realism. The C-101 Aviojet benefited from upgraded bomb model textures. Please read the full changelog. Our massive DCS Winter Sale 2024 is now live until the 6th of January 2025. Don’t miss the perfect opportunity to expand your collection and make this holiday season one to remember! With up to 50% across all our most popular modules, we are confident you'll find something to warm you up this winter. Check the Winter Sale video. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Iraq Out Now The early access launch of DCS: Iraq covers Central and Northern Iraq. This map uses our latest map technology with improved normal mapping, better vegetation, and many interesting Points of Interest (POI) to provide a highly-realistic and engaging feeling of flight. Work will continue in the early access period to include improved roads, the inclusion of H2, H3, Al-Kut and Mosul airfields, more POIs, and tuning of view distances and airfields. Further expansions will grant you access to the Iraq Southern region, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia. Just like other DCS maps, we offer the DCS: Iraq as a complete map that will be updated throughout the early access period. However, if you are only interested in a particular region or on a budget, you can decide to simply purchase the northern Iraq region in high-detail. The choice is yours. Modular Options DCS: North Iraq ($39.99): Perfect for those focused on the heart of Iraq’s northern conflicts like the Global War on Terror and ISIS. DCS: Iraq ($59.99 early access price with 20% off). This is the ultimate package, combining North and South Iraq plus a large neighbouring areas for a complete experience. DCS: South Iraq ($39.99): Immerse yourself in the oil fields, marshlands, and Gulf War theaters. This region is not currently available for purchase and will be coming in Q2 2025 or earlier. DCS Update Development Progress Despite this week’s update being intermediate in nature, provided primarily for the launch of DCS: Iraq map, we and our 3rd party partners were able to include some valuable additional items into the build: DCS - Core Several core engine fixes to improve stability and gameplay. The resource managers now synchronize dynamically changed warehouse resources for new clients. In VR, controllers no longer disappear after selecting the VR settings tab. DCS: CH-47F by Eagle Dynamics A critical fix addresses engine shutdown issues when a second crew member joins a hot-started helicopter, ensuring smoother multi-crew operations. Work continues on new autopilot functions. DCS: Supercarrier by Eagle Dynamics Player attempts to land without clearance no longer trigger unwanted flare launches from the carrier, removing an immersion-breaking behavior. We strongly recommend contacting ATC first and following landing instructions to avoid deck crew instruction issues. DCS Mirage F1 by Aerges Multiple avionics and systems improvements enhance realism and reliability. Navigation, formation, and landing lights are now more accurate, along with radar rendering fixes and improved radio behavior. The Belouga BLG66 bomb and other payload options have been standardized. Various cockpit animations, indicator flags, and instrument behaviors have been corrected, leading to a more authentic flight experience. DCS: C-101 Aviojet by AvioDev The visual quality of several bomb models, including BLG66 and BR-series bombs, has been improved for better overall realism. Campaigns Campaign improvements include added subtitles to radio communications, updated AI to the latest standards, corrected mission behaviors, and refined briefing instructions. These changes enhance narrative clarity, mission flow, and the overall player experience in several Huey and F-16C campaigns. For a detailed list of all the changes, please read the full changelog. East Afghanistan Development Update Report We are committed to delivering the Afghanistan East project into Early Access in the nearest future, and to ensuring that it meets the expected quality standards. Our primary focus is currently centered on creating essential airfields and ensuring they operate seamlessly. We are also carefully refining and enriching the areas surrounding these sites to minimize any need for later adjustments after the initial release. Beyond the airfields, we are enhancing existing models and introducing new, unique ones to more closely reflect the local real-world environment. This includes the addition of various infrastructure elements such as fuel stations, administrative buildings, and cultural or religious landmarks. Simultaneously, we are developing a detailed, non-destructive road network across Afghanistan. We are also significantly expanding the map’s overall data, incorporating an unprecedented number of settlements, agricultural areas, and industrial zones. This surpasses any previous DCS map in terms of scope and density. On the technical front, we are improving ground textures and employing new algorithms to create more detailed normal maps. These refinements will bring greater visual depth and realism to the terrain. As we prepare to release the second part of the Afghanistan map, the entire project will benefit from an expanded main map area, albeit at a lower fidelity, to support aircraft carrier operations, catering to you, our most dedicated enthusiasts. Optimization efforts are ongoing, and we appreciate your understanding during the Early Access phase. Many planned features for the Afghanistan theater remain in development and will be introduced in future updates during the polishing stage. Completing all planned elements of the Afghanistan project represents a significant undertaking, both in terms of workload and time. Winter Sale Holiday Savings! 29 November 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, In light of some questions from our community, we have expanded our article exploring the intricate navigation system of the DCS: F-16C Viper. In this white paper, we update you on how the aircraft combines its Inertial Navigation System (INS) with the Global Positioning System (GPS) by processing both data streams through a Kalman filter to provide precise and reliable navigation data. This integrated approach leverages the stability and autonomy of the INS alongside the accuracy of GPS. This effectively mitigates the individual limitations of each system. Read the INS + GPS White Paper. In a future DCS update, you can expect major enhancements to the DCS: South Atlantic map. New features include; improved ground detail around the Falkland Islands, mainland Argentina, and Chile. A seasonal simulation that mimics the build up and melting of snow through the year has been added too. These new winter textures, along with new flora and fauna, adds incredible immersion. To enjoy all the new enhancements coming to the South Atlantic map, please stay tuned for the upcoming update. Our Autumn Sale 2024 is ongoing with plenty of amazing deals to be landed until the 9th of December at 16:00 GMT. Who knows, you may end up finding a new favourite! Please note that the DCS Steam Edition Sale has now started and will run until the 4th of December at 18:00 GMT. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics INS + GPS White Paper Update System Overview We have updated the INS + GPS White Paper with more details to further answer DCS: F-16C pilot questions. Key highlights include: INS Functionality: Understanding how the INS performs dead reckoning using accelerometers and gyros, and how errors such as Schuler Oscillation can affect navigation over time. GPS Insights: Examines how GPS measures aircraft position, the challenges posed by ionospheric delay and multipath effects, and the advantages of military GPS signals. Kalman Filtering: Understanding how the Kalman filter optimally blends INS and GPS data, enhancing navigation precision while maintaining autonomy against potential GPS discrepancies or spoofing. Practical Applications: Learning about the INS FIX procedure to correct accumulated errors, especially when GPS is unavailable or after poor alignment, and the importance of using aircraft sensors for target acquisition to ensure maximum accuracy. Read the INS + GPS White Paper. South Atlantic Upcoming Update Development Progress The South Atlantic map team is working on a winter update to their map. In order to deliver this major upgrade, they have meticulously developed custom seasonal simulation method that deliver an exceptional level of realism to the Falkland Islands whilst also further enhancing the areas of Argentina and Chile. Their new methods enhance terrain and environmental information such as Geo elevation data, snowfall accumulation, and melting. Because the available data does not contain enough detail, they have designed a process to interpolate and enhance this data, which results in impressive results. Mainland Chile and Argentina will also benefit by receiving realistic winter textures for which they leverage the same technology, but at a slightly lower resolution. This brings both the Falklands and the mainland to an even higher level of detail, which results in a more immersive and fulfilling experience. Further enhancements will include an updated biome with new flora and fauna across the map, especially visible during low level operations. 15 November 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Our new fog system will at last be coming to DCS in the next update! For the past three years we have worked hard on delivering a radically new fog solution that will dramatically change your level of immersion in DCS. Please read the Volumetric Weather White Paper. It’s with great pleasure that we also announce the deck crew director system for DCS Supercarrier also coming in the next update. This long awaited feature will direct player and AI aircraft from parking locations to catapults and from the landing area to a parking location. Please read the details below. We’ve also included an update from Aerges on their Mirage F1 and upcoming F-104. Aerges are making impressive progress and we can’t wait to see what you think! The F-16C Arctic Thunder Campaign by Reflected Simulations will also be available in the next update. This intense F-16C Viper campaign over the Kola map will include 10 missions and over 2,000 voice lines. Check it out below. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics New Fog Effects Enhancements The next update will feature substantial enhancements to DCS weather in particular a new state-of-the art fog and dust rendering system. This highly immersive solution, which took more than 8’500 man hours to develop, allows both automatic and manual fog generation and accounts for sensor and AI line-of-sight blocking. It is calculated with our future spherical Earth in mind and can be highly variable based on density and altitude. It supports self-shadowing, blends with clouds, and is fully animated with moving cloud banks. Scenes from the early morning and evening hours are particularly convincing and offer a surprisingly realistic atmosphere. Please do read our detailed white paper here: Volumetric Weather White Paper. New Supercarrier Plane Directors Development Report When DCS: Supercarrier was originally released, it included a rich set of deck crew and animations that mimicked the process of taxiing on to the catapult and launching. In the next update, we are delighted to announce the added feature of plane ‘directors’ (yellow shirts) who precisely marshall aircraft from their parking space to the catapult. This usually involves multiple plane directors passing control from one key position to the next ensuring precise hazard free taxiing of the aircraft to their designated catapult. After landing, the same new director system will marshall players and AI aircraft back to their designated parking location. While the process of creating this for single player was a challenging task given the myriads of ways the process can be interrupted, the multiplayer aspect was far more complex than ever contemplated given the numerous ways multiple human players on the carrier deck could “break” the system. This led to more than four times the development initially budgeted for this feature and we apologise for the delay and hope you will enjoy the experience. Regarding the CVN-74 John C. Stennis, it is available as both a free aircraft carrier and as part of the Supercarrier module. This allows the Stennis to be used by pilots that own and do not own the Supercarrier module. For now and to maintain this compatibility, deck crew will not be supported for this particular aircraft carrier. We are working on a solution to resolve this in the future. F-104 Starfighter Development Report Aerges is pleased to update you on improvements to their Mirage F1 and C-101 and progress of their F-104. Mirage F1M MFD and HUD symbology, as well as their respective avionics logic, are in an advanced state of development. Much work is being done to polish the F1 systems in addition to fixing bugs reported by our community. Attention has also been made to the C-101 in order to keep it up to date and bug free. There has been an overhaul of the code structure to allow more effective coding and feature-sharing between the F1 and the upcoming F-104. Research continues on radar picture rendering and physics improvements. The resulting technology is also expected to be used for the F-104. Coding of the F-104 flight model and general aircraft systems is complete, as well as initial flight model validation. This includes engine, hydraulics, electrics, fuel, controls, armament, and miscellaneous systems. Avionic systems and integration with the cockpit animations and inputs is currently in-progress. The F-104 external model and cockpit textures are the result of a thorough research that included laser scanning. The next step will be the creation of the set of liveries. Please check out the F1 and F-104 development progress video. F-16 Arctic Thunder Campaign by Reflected Simulations February, 2024. 08 November 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Two new exciting tools for DCS Core are currently in development: The Multi-Select for the Mission Editor and a more streamlined DCS Updater that is integrated into the launcher! Both are coming soon. Please read the details below. Coming to DCS, the F/A-18C Arctic Thunder campaign by Baltic Dragon will contain 10 missions that place you in the cockpit of a Finnish F/A-18C over the Kola map. In addition to providing an immersive experience that is to be expected from Baltic Dragon, it will also allow you to interact in the campaign using your stick and throttle rather than the F10 menu. Stay tuned! Time is running out to take advantage of the Pimax Crystal Light VR headset promotion. Enter DCS2024 at checkout on Pimax.com to earn 15,000 ED Miles ($15 in the DCS e-shop) with your purchase of a Crystal Light. This offer is valid until November 29th. Also make sure you sign up for the Pimax Dogfight 1v1 2024 event, running November 16-24th for some intense aerial combat and great prizes. Learn more below. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS Core Development Progress Mission Editor Select Tool Coming soon to the Mission Editor is the ability to group together units, objects, trigger zones, and drawings into a larger group that can be moved as a whole using ‘click and drag’. You can also copy, paste, delete, and rotate them. This makes the process of creating missions in DCS much easier and faster, particularly when using hot keys. Planned Improvements to DCS Updater The amount of disk space required for an update will be reduced to the size of new files with no additional space for intermediate processing. This will assist those of you with little remaining disk space. Parallel unpacking and checking of large files. This aims to drastically reduce the unpacking time and the time for verification of files. Please note that the updater downloads and unpacks all new files before deleting the replaced ones to keep DCS in an operable state as long as possible and to reduce the update installation time. This allows updates to be paused or cancelled without breaking the game. For restricted disk space scenarios, it is possible to create an update mode where old files are deleted before downloading new ones. However, you will not be able to run DCS until the update is completed. With the upcoming integration of the DCS Updater into the launcher, downloading of updates in the background while running the game will be possible. F/A-18C Arctic Thunder Campaign by Baltic Dragon Coming Q4 2024 February, 2024. Finland is on the verge of joining NATO when the unthinkable happens: Russian armed forces push through the border while cruise missiles rain down on the country. Several western allies immediately join the conflict to fight alongside their Finnish brothers in arms. Baltic Dragon has created a fictional Kola map scenario based on real life events and tactics. Strap into a Finnish DCS: F/A-18C, take off from a hidden road base. Take part in study level, highly realistic missions such as CAP, CAS, SEAD and precision strikes. Follow real life procedures in unprecedented detail. Launching simultaneously, a companion F-16C Viper campaign by Reflected Simulations will be available that is woven into the same storyline. Now is an excellent time to purchase the Kola map! Experience what it would be like to fly as a fighter pilot in a large-scale air war today. Key Features: 10 immersive missions with a variety of different tasks: CAS, X-CAS, CAP, escort, pre-planned strikes, and more. An interactive intro mission that guides the player through the most important aspects of the campaign. Operations from road bases in Finland. Over 2,200 lines of dialogue with voice-overs. Custom ATC interaction for all the missions. Optional use of air-to-air refuelling or the choice to skip it. Detailed documentation, flight plans, maps, and target information available in both PDF format and from within each mission as part of the kneeboard. 25 October 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Last week, we launched the pre-order for the DCS: Iraq map and this sparked many questions and concerns about the DCS: Afghanistan map. Primarily, why is Eagle Dynamics working on an Iraq map with so much work to do on the Afghanistan map? The Iraq and Afghanistan maps are being developed by separate map teams in different countries. The development of one does not affect progress on the other. As such, the Iraq map has in no way slowed down development of the Afghanistan map. Furthermore, map development has no impact on the development of other DCS aspects such as the Core and individual modules. In fact, each month you can find an extensive list of improvements and fixes to the Core and modules in our changelogs. The next big update to the Southwest portion and the Eastern region has been delayed due to developing a new approach that will improve this and all maps; we believe it will be worth it. After the initial release of the Afghanistan map, we have been carefully reviewing all feedback, and we’ll be incorporating this into the map as well. Also based on your feedback, we want to emphasise again that both maps can be purchased as a single purchase, just as all DCS maps. The individual regions are simply an option for those that want just a particular region or who wish to purchase bite sized areas for a reduced amount. As important, regardless of how you purchase a map, it will always be multiplayer compatible. Ugra Media is pleased to announce impressive enhancements to the DCS: Syria map set for the next update. Included are new airfields, and new destructible models for original objects. Additionally, the Normandy 2.0 map has also received substantial optimisation, more new airfields, improvements to existing points of interest, and new ones such as the Palace of Versaille. Please read the details below. Get ready for the upcoming AH-64D Outpost Campaign by Stone Sky! This new campaign will immerse you in 15 exciting and authentic missions with more than 200 pages of documentation. Stay tuned! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Syria Development Progress In collaboration with Ugra Media, we are delighted to share a significant update coming soon to the DCS: Syria map. Airfields and optimisation New strategic locations including Ben Gurion, Hatzor, Palmashim, and Tel Nof have been added, and you’ll soon be able to add them to your missions. Improvements have been made to small objects models to optimise the rendering efficiency. Enhancements and additions The Airbus A300 and An-26 map objects have been upgraded. The minimum texture resolution of ground surfaces and objects has been enhanced, resulting in sharper and more detailed visuals. New helipads are now available at several military bases. The scenery at the refinery of south Palmachim has been improved with more detail. New terminal models and the iconic control tower have been added to Ben Gurion. Airbus A300 and An-26 map objects are now included as part of the airfield scenes of Deir ez-Zor, Latakia, Marj Ruhayyil, Nejrab, Beirut, Damascus, Tabqa, Ben Gurion. New destruction models for Points of Interest like: Bank of Cyprus, Beirut SkyGate, Limassol KEAN Factory, Paphos Terminal, Sheraton Adana Hotel, Dam Ataturk, Dam Tishrin, and Ben Gurion terminal. Bug fixes Resolved issues in Akrotiri and Paphos airfields. Fixed terrain scene bugs at various bases. Corrected errors in terrain and vector data and common scenes. Fixed collision issues with helipads on the Bank of Cyprus and Sheraton Adana Hotel. Corrected licence plates on cars and inscriptions on buildings. Normandy 2.0 Development Progress Impressive updates are also coming to the DCS: Normandy 2.0 map, here is a preview of what you can look forward to in the upcoming update. Optimisation Ugra Media has optimised the building models and structures to improve overall performance. The bridge scene near the Palace of Westminster has been enhanced with greater detail. Additionally, the model of the Notre-Dame de Paris has been improved. New airfields Eastchurch, Headcorn, and Hawkinge airfields have been added and are perfect to enrich your mission planning. New historical sites To enhance the historical authenticity of the terrain, new historical sites such as the Basilica Sacré Coeur, Palace of Versailles, and Hampton Court Palace have been added. Additionally, high flags at forts and major cities will be available. Bug fixes Fixed bugs in airfields with the same call signs. Fixed bugs in terrain, vector data and common scenes. We truly appreciate your support and can’t wait to hear your feedback on these updates! AH-64D OUTPOST Campaign by StoneSky In the complex geopolitical landscape, Syria is a strategic interest for Russia and the United States. Beyond being terrorism hotspot, Syria has become a stage for the rivalry between global powers, each pursuing their strategic interests and shaping international relations. The campaign features 15 meticulously crafted missions based on real events. You will participate in deployments at Incirlik Air Base, King Hussein Air Base in Jordan, and strategic locations in northern Syria like the well-known cement plant and the formidable Tal Saman base. Additionally you will find a wealth of enhancements for a variety of our modules including Combined Arms, Black Shark 3, MB-339A/PAN by IndiaFoxtEcho Visual Simulations, JF-17 by Deka Ironwork Simulations, and terrains including the South Atlantic, Kola, Syria, and Sinai maps. For more details on all the fabulous enhancements, please read the full changelog. Kola Development Progress “Check out the September update video of the reworked map’s visuals and additional Finnish airfields. We greatly appreciate your role in bringing Kola to life and invite you to visit https://kola.orbxdirect.com/ to submit new improvements.” – Orbx Systems Progress So Far Compared to the initial release, the Kola map now has substantially improved natural terrain that includes a more detailed elevation mesh, summer and winter ground textures, vegetation, shorelines, lakes, and rivers. The initial focus area for airfields and infrastructure spans the Finland-Russia border regions, but we’ve also started adding more detail to parts of Norway and Sweden. If you were holding off on purchasing this wonderful map, now is the time to experience this epix terrain. Major updates since the Early Access release: The addition of a complete set of high-resolution, winter textures that will be critical for the upcoming ‘Arctic Thunder’ campaigns by Reflected Simulations and Baltic Dragon. The summer textures have greatly improved with much higher resolution that improves the low altitude environment. The addition/improvement of four highly-detail regions covering four airfields in Finland: Rovaniemi (EFRO), Kemi / Tornio (EFKE), Kuusamo (EFKS), and Ivalo (EFIV); and five in Russia: Severomorsk-3 (XLMV), Severomorsk-1 (ULAK), RU-1110 (UMOE), RU-4464 (UOLE), and Murmansk (ULMM). Added or improved two road runways in Finland (at Vuojärvi and Rovaniemi), three airfields in Norway: Bodø (ENBO), Kirkenes (ENKR), and Lakselv (ENNA); and five in Sweden: Kiruna (ESNQ), Jokkmokk (ESNJ), Luleå (ESPA), Vidsel (ESPE), and Kalixfors (ESUK). An improved road and railroad network connected within the coverage area that includes bridges and tunnels that allow AI routing across the map. Many new cities, towns, infrastructure, tunnels and other objects have been added to the map. Future Plans The next release will see the inclusion of Andoya (ENAN) airfield in Norway and Alakurtti (RU-0059) airfield in Russia with some additional infrastructure in the surrounding areas. Orbx has also reviewed a series of bugs and errors aiming for small performance improvements. Future releases will see the addition of more airfields and surrounding infrastructure including: Evenes (ENEV), Bardufoss (ENDU), Kittilä Airport (EFKT), Enontekiö Airport (EFET), Pudasjärvi Airfield (EFPU), and Sodankylä Airfield (EFSO). Beyond these, Cold War-era installations, military airfields, and other key points of interest are also planned. The upcoming Arctic Thunder campaign by Reflected Simulations & Baltic Dragon for the Kola map will consist of two scenarios: one for a Finnish Air Force F/A-18C and another for an USAF F-16C Viper. Both will share the same storyline and missions making it possible to play from different perspectives. Orbx has remained committed to continually providing frequent optimisation updates to the Kola Map. Please note that whilst in early access you can still enjoy a 20% discount! This update will address Aircraft AI, Ground AI, weapons, and terrain optimisations. Please read the details below. Also included in the next DCS update are an impressive number of improvements to the DCS: F/A-18C and DCS: F-16C. A special thank you to our community who have provided invaluable feedback. The End of Summer Sale 2024 is filled with huge savings to help you digest your summer memories. Please head over to the E-Shop and check out all the amazing deals waiting for you! Please note that we are also offering the same deals on the DCS World Steam Edition! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics DCS Update Preview What to look out for Get ready for a wealth of DCS improvements that will add new features, resolve bugs, and optimise performance, especially in multiplayer environments. Here is what you can look forward to: Aircraft AI and Ground AI The latest update will include fixes and improvements to both Aircraft AI and Ground AI behaviour. For aircraft, issues such as cargo doors on the AI Mi-8 helicopter remaining open during transportation tasks and helicopters having difficulty landing will be fixed. The carpet bombing task will work correctly when a priority target is set and weapons free. Additionally, fighters will perform better in cruise missile interception scenarios. For Ground AI, bridge crossing is being improved along with route following behaviour. The BTR-80 and BTR-82 will deploy a bow-wave shield when crossing water. Please stay tuned for the upcoming changelog. Weapons Weapon behaviour will see several important fixes, particularly for the AIM-54C's lock reacquisition issue. AI units will properly use APKWS rockets. Additionally, the R-27R/ER missiles will be adjusted to track cruise missiles effectively, and a new China Asset Pack addition will introduce the HJ-12 Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM). Other improvements will include updates to the Sea Eagle missile, which will have a collision model that can be intercepted. Terrain Engine The terrain engine will receive notable optimizations, including better VRAM usage, disk streaming, and CPU utilisation for rendering scenery models. This enhances performance across maps, especially in VR. Additionally, issues like crashes at mission start in certain maps (Afghanistan, Kola, and Sinai) and graphical artefacts when zooming or panning in map modes have been addressed. These optimizations will contribute to a smoother and more stable gameplay experience, especially in complex and processor intensive situations. Other important improvements will include cargos no longer being destroyed when dropped, improved oil and water leak effects for World War II aircraft, and the Arleigh Burke Close-In Weapon System (CWIS) use against missiles is improved. F/A-18C & F-16C Aircraft Improvements Recent updates and bug fixes across various aircraft, including the F-16C and F/A-18C, are part of our ongoing commitment to refining the simulation and completing all release and post-Early Access support commitments. We have addressed a wide range of issues, from minor graphical glitches to more significant systems-related bugs that affect gameplay. The F-16C Viper will see improvements in its radar including fixes to Track While Scan (TWS) multi-designations, more reliable soft-locks in Range While Scan (RWS) and Dual Track modes, added the ability to interact with false targets, corrected Hot Lines, and improved Pulse Doppler (PD) tracking. For ground-pounders, Maverick slaving to the Sensor Point of Interest (SPI) issues will be addressed. One of the biggest, and most requested changes, is the ability to select the Flight Control System dead zone gradient to either a realistic setting best used for force-sensitive joysticks or to exactly match the Controls Manager deadzone value. You will be able to select this in the next update. Despite being out of Early Access, the F/A-18C has and will continue to be supported with new features and fixes. In the next update, the F/A-18C will receive updates to its avionics and weapon systems. These updates are based on player feedback and extensive testing, they include adjustments to the radar BIAS behaviour, Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), training missions, fuzes and more. Stay tuned for the full changelog! Although not ready for the next update, the F/A-18C is also undergoing an extensive review and re-work of the flight model and flight control system. Other F/A-18C features are still planned for the project like more Multi-Sensor Integration (MSI) features, loft symbology and data for JDAM and JSOW, and the Mk-77. 06 September 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, In the next update, we will be dropping the single threaded version of DCS to focus on the multi threaded version alone. We have made significant enhancements that offer improved performance and stability and can’t wait to share them with you. Stay tuned! We have also been working on the new first person CH-47F pilot models and pleased to share some Development Screenshots. The modelling and textures are complete with animations currently in progress. Please check out the details below. DCS for Disabilities is run by a disabled veteran who aims to create a more welcoming environment for DCS pilots with disabilities that are unable to complete long missions due to their conditions. If you are struggling with a disability and looking for a group to fly with, please consider the DCS for Disabilities group. Join now! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Multithreading Integration process Significant multithreading progress has been made since its release, improving performance and stability substantially. This is particularly true for multiplayer servers with numerous forces. Multithreading has enabled the use of modern multi-core processors by distributing workloads more efficiently across CPU cores. We will continue to improve our multithreading for DCS and focus on performance through the platform. With multithreading at an advanced and stable state, we will be terminating the older single-threaded version of DCS in the next update. CH-47F Pilots Development Progress The DCS: CH-47F module will soon be receiving first person view pilot models. These models are being crafted to ensure every aspect of the pilot's appearance reflects real-world standards. The flight suits, helmets, and accessories such as body armour and communication gear have all been modelled. This will be a particularly important improvement for those of you flying in virtual reality. These new models will be fully integrated into the cockpit and animated to correspond with crew actions, control operation, interaction with instruments and more! In parallel, we are adding new elements and functionality to LCT (Longitudinal Cyclic Trim), AFCS (Automated/Advanced Flight Control System), DAFCS (Digital Advanced Flight Control System), DASH (Digital Air Speed Hold), DCP (Differential Collective Pitch), as well as new display pages and associated functions, new aircraft skins, more advanced sling functions, improvements to the cargo system, new crew-served weapons, and more. DCS for Disabilities MP Server The DCS for Disabilities group focuses on supporting disabled DCS pilots. The Scuttlebutt Lounge Discord channel is a place where disabled DCS pilots can get support, set up controllers, discuss their particular challenges and arrange multiplayer missions that best support their unique needs. The group flies all DCS modules, and has led to amazing friendships. They strive to place DCS in the homes of mobility challenged individuals, veterans, warriors, and children in need of hope and strong mentorship in a safe community. Join their discord! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

Through the Inferno User Files Through The Inferno (TTI) by deadlyfishes is a dynamic, open-world PvE experience designed for DCS, offering endless aerial combat missions that cover all DCS aircraft. Players can choose from different eras of aerial combat, such as World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, and Modern times. Each mission is tailored to the chosen era, with appropriate enemy units and logistical support. The missions can be adjusted for difficulty, mission type, and time of day, providing a highly personalized experience. TTI offers extensive in-mission tools, such as the "Zeus" real-time spawning system, AIRBOSS Carrier Ops, and AI traffic customization. The F10 menu provides access to these tools, enabling you to shape their missions as you see fit. Additionally, it’s possible to configure random events, such as enemy reinforcements and air traffic, which adds unpredictability and challenge. Designed primarily for single-player, TTI supports private co-op play but is not intended for public multiplayer servers. The mission is continually updated, with detailed guides and tutorials available to help players optimize their experience. For more information, support, or to join the TTI community, visit their official website and join their Discord. TTI is compatible with all DCS modules, offering a versatile and engaging combat experience. Enjoy! Dynamic Cargo New Functionality The launch of the DCS: CH-47F introduced our new cargo and logistics functionality. This Dynamic Cargo feature is still work in progress and is therefore not enabled by default but can be activated on the ‘full info page’ in the warehouse interface. If you are having issues with the system please check out the Cargo System Guide. We are working towards enabling the feature for other transport capable helicopters, including DCS: UH-1H Huey, DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight and DCS: Mi-24P Hind. We are in the process of creating many additional cargo loads, so don’t hesitate to inform us if you have good ideas to enhance the logistics game play! Troop movements and animations in and around your helicopter are some of the biggest requests we have received. This is in progress but does require some major re-work to infantry models and animations. ‘Fat Cow’ and dynamic FARP operations will certainly make the DCS: CH-47F a more capable asset on the battlefield. We are currently working to ensure this feature is available soon and will update you as things progress. Finally, dynamic cargo mass accounting, weight/balance and operational restrictions are being worked on too. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,

16 August 2024 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, We are celebrating the Panavia Tornado’s first flight that took place on the 14th of August 1974. The Tornado was specified in response to the need for a versatile, multi-role tactical fighter that could perform equally well in high speed low-level penetration, reconnaissance, air superiority, and air defence missions. The collaboration between Germany, Italy and the UK, formalized in the late 1960s, was very ambitious and aimed to pool expertise and resources to create an aircraft that would serve multiple NATO air forces and fulfill varied roles. The multinational team worked tirelessly, overcoming linguistic, technical, and bureaucratic barriers, driven by a shared vision of innovation and excellence. AviaStorm have prepared a development progress report on the status of their Tornado for DCS. Please read the details below. Please note that this is your last chance to enter the DCS Screenshot Competition 2024 and submission will close on the 23rd of August at 15:00 GMT. Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Tornado 50th Anniversary On the 14th of August 1974, in Manching, Germany, the airfield roared to life with the sound of the Tornado taking to the skies for the first time. This marked the culmination of years of rigorous design and engineering efforts by three European nations: The United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. The Panavia Tornado was destined to redefine modern warfare and aviation for decades. The 50th anniversary of the Tornado's first flight was not just a celebration of a remarkable aircraft, but a commemoration of spirit, innovation, and resilience. It was a reminder that when nations come together with a shared vision, they can achieve extraordinary things. Development Report The last 18 months of work on the flight model has seen the inaccuracies of the transonic aerodynamics resolved. Aviastorm has worked on fully simulating the unique flight characteristics of all wingsweep positions. The module’s aerodynamic model is matched with a detailed recreation of the mighty RB-199 engines which also power the electrical and hydraulic systems. The team have also simulated the generator electrical loads and the hydraulic pressures required to move the flight control surfaces and other mechanical systems. The modeling of the complex flight controls and Control And Stability Augmentation Systems (CSAS) is now the biggest task still remaining to ensure correct aircraft handling, ready for comprehensive flight testing. Accuracy is important to mimic the unique flight performance and characteristics of this complex variable geometry aircraft. The 3D model is also nearing completion and we are delighted to share these work in progress screenshots of the “First flight” Livery. For more updates visit the Aviastorm discord. Screenshot Competition Last chance This is your last chance to enter our DCS Screenshot Competition 2024. Don't miss out on the opportunity to showcase your skill and creativity with the DCS community and win fantastic prizes. Good luck! We look forward to seeing your incredible work. Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,
