Maybe FC3 then :-P
-
Can it be implemented later on in a patch once the new maps are more developed? T-Bone

Maybe try a different DEM source then?

I don't think it would be hard, I mean its just different files for the mission editor, terrain, and the cockpit map, coordinates. Someone on LockOnFiles has already created a 3rd party swapping tool between the Nevada terrain and default FC Crimea/Georgia map (since they are the same file). My point is they've done this in the game's UI for F4AF, IL-2, etc. LOMAC:FC/DCS is the only combat flight sim with only one theater, and with people working on Afghanistan, Nevada, Spain, etc it seems like a good idea for them to add this capability. If it is standardized it will also be easier for people to fly together online because that way you don't need to swap the mods for everyone to fly together (like with the Nevada terrain when flying online with other people).

In IL-2 FB a while back, a few guys created some online campaigns that converted these stats into a scoring system like 100 points for a fighter, 125 for bomber, -100 for a death, etc. Could you guys implement this with the online campaign events for LOMAC? I'm sure it would make multiplayer more popular for people. T-Bone

New laptop for FC 2.0 and DCS A-10C
T-Bone replied to T-Bone's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, I pretty much made up my mind on getting the Alienware M15x until I read about the Studio XPS 16 and I'm really undecided now. Alienware is $300 bucks more expensive for the graphics card and 3GB 1333MHz RAM. I would be happy just running the graphics you have on your Studio since right now my computer I am running is only capable of medium terrain, etc, and low water at 800x600 (AMD XP 3000+, 1 Gig RAM, 512 MB Geforce 7800 GS) What do you recommend? lenny, try some crowded campaign missions with 30+ ground units, some static airfield models, and 30+ air units and I almost guarantee that your settings will need to be lowered... T-Bone

Then the easy solution for ED would be to integrate a pull down map selection in the user interface like the pulldown in Falcon 4 AF to select Korea or Balkans, so we can easily switch between Ukraine/Crimea, Georgia, and later on Nevada since the maps have limits on their size. It seems like a waste because Georgia terrain is very mountainous and while it is fun for ground pounders, air to air guys who enjoy BVR can have better practice with flatter terrain and less mountains for fighters to hide in. Crimea was very well done with detailed port cities and offers different gameplay styles. It was the original Flanker series map also. T-Bone

Why can't the Crimea region be integrated into DCS as well if it has already been modeled in FC. Couldn't ED have just built the additional Georgian terrain into the old Crimean map from LOMAC? T-Bone
-
Quick question: Why did ED decide to remove the Crimean region? Was it to free up resources on the map for more of Georgia? T-Bone

New laptop for FC 2.0 and DCS A-10C

Well, alternatively if I spent around $3000 on a maxed out M17x alienware, do you think it would be worth the value? I'm just sick of spending a lot of money on a new computer every few years. -

Is there anything I can get for under $1000? -
Hey guys, I've been using a really old desktop I built back in 2006 and I need an upgrade badly. I've been looking into this laptop and I was wondering if you guys think it will work well for FC 2.0 and DCS: Dell Alienware M11x 2GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz Intel Pentium SU4100 1.3GHz (2MB Cache) 11.6-inch WideHD 1366x768 (720p) 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 335M (I'm planning on hooking it up to my new 32 inch samsung HD LCD TV when flying so I'm not worried about the 720p resolution and small screen size, plus I want something portable to surf the net when I travel.) There is a 4GB RAM option also, would this be recommended over 2 GB? The FAQ says 3 GB is "recommended." Thanks, T-Bone

Any updates on this?

Batou, Also there are numerous free Google Sketchup models that are already created for Google Earth that you can use such as mosques and landmarks such as university buildings and banks. You can convert the sketchup models to 3DS Max 7 format for LOMAC. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=uzbekistan&styp=m&reps=2 http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=afghanistan&styp=m&reps=3 T-Bone

How do I add another country?
-
When you add a new country does it replace an old one? Can I add a country without replacing any in FC?
-
Also Batou, How big is the map? 200km x 200km? Will you be adding 3d models of afghan style buildings? Great work man! Keep it up! T-Bone
-
Hey Batou, How do you add new countries into LOMAC coalitions? T-Bone

Here is one that involves neither Afghanistan or Russia. United States relations with China get bad when a US Spyplane is shot down in the South China sea. Then Al Quaeda blows up the Chinese embassy in Kandahar to rig WWIII. China thinks it is a CIA attack and invades Afghanistan to retaliate against NATO.

I'm not CJ Martin, I'm just quoting him.

Like the Su-25TM in FC versus the old Su-25.
-
FC and BS have some sweet explosions compared to F4 lol

Yep, also I was thinking you could have a flashback campaign. In one mission it is Colonel Ivan in the Su-39 attacking modern day terrorists, and then the next its a flashback to when he was fighting in the same area as Lt. Ivan in the late 1980s in the Su-25. It would be a fun scenario switching back and forth between old and new technology.
