  1. OK heads up terrain builders: Since FC2 does not utilize advanced haze, we'll need a special method for creating the terrain surface BMP files. I've gotten a process down that I'd like to call the hybrid method, which really is a combination of the DEM and the satellite data. I actually think Eagle Dynamics used this method for their terrain as well, as the results look very similar. I will make a tutorial for this soon. Here are some pics to show what I'm talking about. The landsat7 images did not look like this in FC1.x (see http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=874574&postcount=90) but since the haze in the game has changed we'll need to adapt and use this new method if we want the terrain to look good from all altitudes without color clashing or loss of detail from reducing contrast/saturation. Not only does the terrain generated from this method look better from different angles and altitudes, it also feels organic to the LOMAC engine and universe. It also can be applied to future theaters.
  2. I got it, and I think I just reverse engineered how ED has been making their terrain...
  3. Dave, have you found a solution to this? I'm trying to make the terrain contrast and colors more similar to the LOMAC terrain now.
  4. It appears that FC2 has drastically altered the way terrain colors are rendered. The colors seem much darker and bolder at altitude, but even more so now at lower altitudes, creating a problem with clashing colors again. I'll post a tutorial once I figure out a solution to this problem.
  5. Thanks a lot Gys! You guys rock :)
  6. Guys, I think I am missing an engine afterburner skin file here from my temptextures after installing the FC2 Jointpack for Modman 7.2. Do you guys know what is going on? Thanks!
  7. Similar problem: missing afterburner engine textures. I tried updating to the latest Nvidia driver, and it didn't work. Then I uninstalled the 3d model pack and looked at the original models, and they didnt have these issues. Then I reinstalled and the issues were back. I'm using Modman 7.2 with FC2 Joint 3d pack 1.6.

    FPS Tweaks/MODs

Guys, can someone put up the default ED Bazar/ModelLOD.txt file? I'm using 104_route's file and I think it may be causing some skin problems.
  9. I'm testing a Su-27 skin in FC2 and when I select it on any Su-27 it is clipping and displaying the gear covers and other parts through the skin (I'm using the 3GO model obviously). This skin is at lockonfiles, its the J-11 PRC skin for the 3GO Flanker. I'm not installing through modman, but just dropping some BMP files into the Temptextures folder.

    Skin problem

OK I just found out the AI Su-27s with this skin actually DO have this problem also.
  11. I'm testing a skin in FC2 and when I set it to my Su-27 it is clipping (using the 3GO model): When I apply this skin to an AI airplane, it does not exhibit the 3d clipping. Does anyone know how to fix this?
  12. That sucks... they are not working in Vista/7 64 bit?
  13. I had clouds in some of my images too, so I had to just photochop them out.
  14. FC2 makes the terrain colors look bolder.
  15. I created a new noise file with more detail and more color contrast. Also I tweaked the satellite imagery. Once again this is the FC 1.12 engine... I'm still waiting on a new computer to test this terrain in the FC 2.0 engine.
  16. Great work, three gorgeous community 3d models and two beautiful ED Su-25 models. Hopefully one day we'll get the Su-33 up to par with the rest of the gang *cough*3GO*cough* ;)
  17. The wingmen AI seem more human-like now (ie: getting scared, non-predictable, more cautious, dropping weapons, etc)...
  18. Just asking since 1.12 works on Win2k. I am going to try it later on my old Win2k machine for a spin before my new computer gets here.
