...and then, suddenly, I cant lock targets

Yes, seems to be low light issue. And yes, landing in the dark without nvg is kind of a challenge :) at least they turn on the lights when u ask for landing permission. -

I can read the distance, no problem there. So no overheating :) -
Hi guys, First, my problem: I cant seem to be able to lock any targets in The "Dusk" mission on the deployment campaign. I've been playing BS for a year or so, and never had any problems before. In this mission nothing happens when i try to lock the gates onto the targets. Does it have something to do with low light conditions? If I just shoot Vikhrs anyway, just keeping the gates manually on target, they often go haywire and end up in the ground even though laser is on. Anybody know what im doing wrong?
-
It's hard, yes :) Have you tried using TGP, i.e. not using Mav seeker to slew? Use TGP in left MFCD, Mav in right. Find target in TGP, TMS fwd long to set SPI. Then china hat fwd long to lock mav to SPI. that will keep mav seeker locked in place on your target. Set right mfcd as active. When in range press TMS fwd short to lock when Mav. You will see the gates close in when target is locked. Then just fire. Hope I got that right :) *EDIT* Pls feel free to correct me if I managed to get that wrong.

Let me just complain a bit about jtac and then ill be happy
maxmax replied to maxmax's topic in User Created Missions General
Time, yea, that's the thing. And when you dont know when there will be problems, theres nothing but testing to do. Just now i have been testing a mission with several jtacs and a couple of F15s in reserve to call on in case the jtacs dont work. In the SP-verision jtacs answer. sometimes they give targets, sometimes not. works sort of ok. F15s take off when asked to (F10-other) and also answer as JTAC, even though they cant find any targets. In MP-version no jtac even bothers to answer. Same mission, just more A10s as clients. F15s dont show up in F10-other. Annoys the hell out of me. One good thing to have would be a sort of google street view. Zoom in enough and you will see how it looks in game. Now that would be useful. Now you ahve to start the mission every time you want to see exactly where a group has been placed. -

Its all very simple when you don't have any kind of randomnesses involved. But as soon as you have a few groups that will spawn randomly, jtac goes all confused. I still havent found a good solution for this. One option is to just use fac - which means he has to spot the targets. Which he rarely does. Other option is to spawn one jtac along with each random spawning. This makes it kind of complicated and usually ends up with a jtac that says no more targets, even though his targets are specified. -
I just need to complain a little bit. About Jtac - it's seriously messed up. In no special order: 1. Set Jtac to invisible and roe to hold fire. Jtac gets killed. 2. Set Jtac to enroute task fac. "No targets but thx for help dude. Now go back home". And thats close to the damned targets. A blind man without a cane should find the targets. 3. Set jtac to fac - engage targets. "No more targets available, thanks for da help, man. Now go home". Even though there are still several groups to destroy according to the list. 4. A little complaining on Ai as well. "Damn it to hell, there is a bridge ahead!" Tanks get stuck on bridges and will not move anywhere causing a traffic jam. Ai behind them start driving in circles.

I solved the problem by setting the order to 1.frequency 2.callsign 3.fac
-
I think i got it. It seems I had the advanced options in the wrong order. Apparently frequency first, then callsign, then fac. Not the reverse as I had done.
-
mission posted Yay, thanks a plenty :) It's probably something simple, or not. If not then ive spent time on a bugged mission. *EDIT* This latest version has different frequencies for each jtac. edit again Also, JTAC only responds on freq 131 even though ive set him to other frequency. Bomber_alert.miz

yes, as well as frequency. *EDIT* Oh, and I don't even have a jtac with callsign axeman.
-
Ive set up a mission where multiple jtacs are available. I've given them different callsigns, but mostly the same frequencies. For some reason they all show up as axeman when playing. Does anyone have an idea what im doing wrong? I can have up to three axemen in the list of jtacs.

Thanks again guys :)

As I understood it, in the latest patch it would be possible to use the hold-command for planes on the airfield - i.e. perform task/hold. That option isn't there. Is it called something else? I want to make a mission where the player has to destroy a group of bombers before they take off. And if they take off, you have to support the retreat of friendly forces and make friendly fighters scramble. Or something in that order.

AFAC - cant get it to work properly
maxmax replied to maxmax's topic in User Created Missions General
He does see, he even gets shot at, just doesnt acknowledge there are enemies. But in 09-changelog there was something about ai spotting infantry. Have to give it a go now. -
Im trying to set up a mission where you have to support friendly advance against enemy infantry. The problem is, i cant get the jtac to work properly, at least not ground based. The first try was to set the lead HMMV armament as jtac. No matter if i set it to task fac or enroute task fac, he just says "no targets at the moment". Even if he is getting shot at. So i tried setting up another group, a hmmv armament approx 100 meters from the enemy infantry. He can detect the infantry, but not another group that spawns a couple of minutes into the mission. Whats the best setting for a ground based JTAC?
-
Ah, it was that simple. I must just have been blind or stupid or both. Thanks for the help :) *EDIT* I think my problem was I just looked at using them as groups. Silly me.

How do you use the statics? Is it something that pops up in the lists when creating triggers? I had a quick look earlier, but couldn't find anything.
-
Hello again, I couldn't find a solution to this, so I'll post another question. If it's at all possible, how does one use static objects in triggers? For example so that the mission objective is to destroy an ammo dump. When the dump is destroyed, the trigger activates. I have the feeling that I've read somewhere that it's not possible. And that a workaround would be to place one ai inside/on the static object and use that for the trigger. Does that work?
-
I think i did it Thanks for the flag-help Druid :) So here is the mission I needed the flags for. I posted it in an earlier post as well. I've used flags for making things random and for making a group move out on a set trigger :book: Druid and anyone else is welcome to test it. Next step is to check that difficulty/distances/timings/logics/playability/funs are ok and then try to make it an mp-mission. Retreat_hidden.miz

Hmm, not really clear. I assume that by clicking the units you mean clikcing wp1 since thats where the conditions were. In the trigger actions I see that you set the flag to 1 when #1 entered the zone. But in unit#2 under stop condition. "I have ticked flag and set number to 1" - is that the same as IS USER and then 1 entered in the box? Im a wee bit confused, because I have to track the logic backwards. So if I understand this correctly. 1. Both vehicles start at the same time. No stop condition there. 2. Both stop at WP1 because of Perform task/hold in adavnced. Veh#1 stops outside the zone. Veh#2 inside. 3. Veh#2 sets off the trigger because it stops inside. That will allow #1 to continue. Hmm. Ill have to analyze this a bit more :/ Still don't get the role of the flag. *EDIT* Ok, I think I figured it out. I made a small mission where two hmmvs stand next to each other. Trigger zone closeby. 1. First has Perform task/hold with stop condition flag 1. Second has no hold and starts moving immediately. 2. Trigger is set to go off when #2 enters zone. Activates flag 1 and message. 3. Flag 1 is now activated so that sets of stop condition for #1. And off he goes. Something like that.

Hey Grimes, that did the trick. Simple and working solution. Thanks! I don't know if I did it exactly in the correct way, I just chose SA11 (or 13, cant remember) template for my column. So at mission start they set themselves up. Then, at my trigger, they started moving. Speed and Druid, I couldn't try your solutions since I don't know how flags work yet. So this would be a good opportunity to try it out. How would you do the flag solution in practice and detail?
-
There is probably a simple solution to this. But how do you set a trigger that will allow a group to start moving along its route? I need it to stay put until a certain triggered event and then move to wp1 and onwards.

I did a mission that I need some feedback on. It's my first, so some kind of feedback could get me going. It's not finished, but rather something that I feel I can do bigger and better. But for that I could use feedback from people who know this stuff better than me. It's a single player mission where you have to defend a retreat of some HMMVs. I have the feeling it's impossible to finish, but who knows. I'm thinking of changing the objective to something different. And maby to set some sort of trigger for their retreat. There are lots of enemies and some triggered surprises. There is jtac available (hopefully). It should be randomized (hopefully). All sort of opinions are welcome, that way I can make it better. *EDIT* Posted a new version of the mission in a another post.
