  1. I made a personal weapons loadout that makes it a bit easier. Six mavs and five gbu12s. Should be enough to kill a few tanks. Still haven't finished it properloy though, or got the targets from jtac? Does it work by setting both Ids to 1? or group 2 personal 1? What are the correct settings. This is freaking me out! growl.:joystick:
  2. Tried post patch, yes. No difference :/
  3. I think I'll try setting waypoints in mission planner. That sounds like a solution :) I never get the red triangle even though ireadn the 9-line back and get the reply standby for data or something like that,
  4. Found a video linked to from the forum: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62934 I've seen it before, but can't get the thing to work. I'm hoping that it's a bug and that the recent patch will fix it.
  5. There is another way to use bombs. A bit easier for me at least. Gbu12: go to profiles in dsms and choose gbu12 by clicking buttons corresponding with arrows at left side of the mfcd Then click view prof. Now you should see CCIP in the right side if the mfcd. Click the corresponding button, and it goes go CCRP. Click save in the top of the screen. Choose gbu12 from dsms. Go to tgp / a-g in mfcd. Find your target by slewing. They are usually at a waypoint,so you can slew the tgp there automatically by pressing china hat fwd long (default button V for 2 sec). Look for targets. When a target is pinpointed, press TMS up short once or twice and it cycles untlil it says POINT in the mfcd. Now your HUD should show two vertical lines if you have set it to CCRP by pressing master mode mode button. One of the lines will start counting down from 20 when they are aligned, i.e you are heading for your target. When it reaches 5, keep the weapons release button pressed until it reaches 0. And bombs away. It should hit its target. Gbu 38 works in the same way, except they are in ccrp mode by default, and the targeting reticuel are the two diamonds. You can release the bomb when your hud says "man release".
  6. I need to ask this once again, if someone has managed to get it working. Didn't really find any answers in the forums. The problem: I don't get targets after contacting jtac in the first mission in devil's cross. I've set my id to both 1-1 and 2-1 after take off and neither seem to do the trick. I've also left the id as it is, no difference. Those are the solutions I've found in the forums. In videos on youtube the pilot gets the info on the mfcd saying that info is received. I've never managed that. If anyone has the details on exactly how to do. Do I for example need to set the cdu to mark before receiving the info? If I wanted to do it manually, how do I set the numbers, i.e, MMXXXXXX, manually into the cdu? Step by step that is. click this click that etc. I suspect I'm not the only one struggling with this. Any help would be much appreciated! Some kind of manual would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi, I've been struggling with the same thing. Found two videos with examples. At least I managed to put the coordinates in the cdu. and I also heard that there is a bug with your ID-number after take off. And also that the first missions are bugged, that you wont get the targets even if you buy the jtac guys beer and pot. Still haven't got it to work properly.
  8. Ok, so in theory very simple. This might be a silly question. But anyways, here goes. Assuming that jtac works as it should and I get the message on the mfd and get the red triangle, how do I make it my SPI and then slew tgp or mav to it?
  9. Hi, Been trying the first mission in the first campaign. I can contact jtac, no problem there. I just haven't figured out what to do with the info. I'm assuming that they are giving me targets to shoot. How do I use the info? In practical terms, that is. So far, I've added the code with letters and numbers into the cdu in mark mode. But then? If anyone has a good procedure to use and practice, it would be much appreciated! Also, I'm stilll wondering about the radio. If I set the bottom radio to the correct frequency 131 mhz, it starts squelching. screaming is actually more the word. So I use the upper radio and have to switch between 124 and 131.
  10. ATI 6970 fps quite low Hi, I'm kind of wondering about fps now. Didn't find any tips on Ati and ccc. Anyway, I just upgraded to hd6970, thinking I would see some improvement. I did, but much less than I thought. Running at between 17 and 55 depending on where im flying and how low. Sometimes it drops to 12. My processor is AMD phenom quad 2,4 ghz clocked to 2,6. 4 gigs ddr2 ram, not overclocked. Does anyone have experience with the hd6970 and how to get the best performance from it?
  11. I had a look at jtac in the mission editor concerning the first mission in the Devil's cross campaign. There it states that jtac freq is 131. In the mission briefing it says use frequency 131 vhf am. Is it safe to assume that it's a faulty mission? Or are they referring to 13.1? Or is it me that's stupid?
  12. Ok, now I also managed to contact the tower. Thanks for the help! Can't find the frequency in the map after pushing f10 though. Still using the pdf. Zoomed in on My airport, Vaziani, but couldn't find any info on frequencies. Looking in the wrong place? Anyway, pdf works fine, so it still works. Great forum this btw, help comes fast :)
  13. Ok, I tried the shooting gallery mission. No problem contacting jtac, so it's just a matter of using the correct frequency. apparently it's the wrong one in the mission description in the mission I was playing. So far so good. Is the airport tower fm, am or uhf? And how does one find the correct frequency? Been using a pdf i found here in the forums. Still haven't been able to access the beta forums, will have to look into that. Has something to do with using the same email or something like that.
  14. I turn on the radio with the dial on the right, to TK. I'll have a go with the shooting gallery mission. Maby jtac will respond there. Will save a track tomorrow. Using beta 4.
  15. I've been searching the forums for answers, and also found them. The problem is, they dont work. In theory I know how to work the radio, and can contact my wingman. That works, but nothing else does. So apparently I'm doing something wrong. The problem arises in the first mission in the first campaign. Firstly I cant contact the tower to get clearing for start up. They never answer, even though i set the radio to the correct frequency. So I take off without permission (once I almost crashed into another jet). Then the order is to circle around wp1 and contact jtac on freq 131 vhf am. I guess that this is pretty standard stuff after some playing hours, but I'm still a noob. The problem is, no matter what i do, jtac never responds, just like with the tower when i ask for startup permission. I set the radio above the uhf radio to 131, and try both as AM and MAN. No answer. I set the radio under the uhf to 131 and try both AM and MAN. No answer. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated! EDIT: I found this tutorial also earlier. My problem is that nothing happens after 1. My pilot reads all the ammo and such, and then nothing. -------------- The most simplified way I can put it is: Contact JTAC and check-in. Wait for the 9-line to finish and after a short pause, they will say "advise when ready for remarks and further talk-on" Use the radio to say you're ready for remarks After receiving remarks, use the radio to provide the 9-line readback. JTAC will confirm readback okay, and say 'standby data'. You'll then receive a message on both MFCDs saying NEW TASKING; acknowledge this with the ack OSB at the bottom right or TMS LEFT SHORT. On your TAD, you will have a WILCO and a CNCMP option on the left and right. Use the WILCO option to accept the tasking. You'll see a red triangle on the TAD. Make the TAD the SOI, use the throttle slew control to put the cursor over the triangle, use TMS UP SHORT to hook the triangle, and then TMS UP LONG to make it the SPI. Use CHINA HAT FWD LONG to slew everything to the SPI (i.e. location of that triangle). At this point, your targeting pod will pointing at the coordinates the JTAC provided. Use it to locate the precise position of your target(s).
  16. 1. I am crashing because of using outside view to check if I'm being shot at. That's just dumb and my own fault. I also crash because i get shot down when using cannon. Just going a bit too close, that's also dumb and my own fault. 2. By jam I meant to say "Stores hung". Just coulnd't figure out the word when I was writing it. I need to look at shooting gbu38 again. The aiming looks different from 12's, which i can use with ease. Just haven't figured out the aiming with 38's. Will have to do that :) And I always keep the trigger pressed, never just click it. But perhaps I did that by mistake and got the "stores hung" error. Is there any way to correct it? If not, any way to clear the error message since it takes up a large portion of the screens.
  17. Well, managed to use mavericks. Every missile hit its target. yay :) Now it's just a matter of not crashing and getting back to base. Thanks for the help! Got some good tips. Gbu38's seem to jam on their pods quite often though. My fault or just a feature?
  18. Oh, and thanks for the links RodBorza. Had a quick look and it seems very useful!
  19. This might be obvious or silly. But anyway. How exactly does one designate target with TGP, make SPI and then slave all sensors to SPI? When I press V long or HOTAS China hat forward it sets the waypoint as SPI, not the target i just aimed for with TGP, for example a BMP. Do I need to have the TGP as SOI? I tried that yesterday, and I have the feeling that the mav was aimed for the waypoint not the target. Also, the maverick target point keeps moving around so you need to "fight" it. I guess thats just the way it is, and I need to target via the tgp? Is there a checklist available somewhere? Otherwise I'll make one as soon as I understand this monster of a machine.
  20. Managed to do the radio. Not difficult when you find the right buttons to push and know the frequencies. I managed to shoot+bomb a lot of enemies. But at some point my wingman got shot down and I was on my own. So I ran out of ammo and had to use cannon+unguided missiles. So I got a bit close and a bmp got me. Getting better though :) Oh, and is there a button for autopilot? would make mavericks a lot faster. I still find mavericks hard to use. You never really know what you are aiming for since the zoom level isnt really that great. Just aiming for whatever the missile manages to lock on to. Probably doing it wrong. More reading for me.
  21. Thanks for all the quick replies. Now I know how to spend my evening :)
  22. Thanks for the info, will try it out tonight. I think I'm using the more complicated radio, but I will have a look at that tonight :) The problem with the countermeasures is that with the Hideout mission the ingress point is really close to the target area. So by the time I've located the targets and locked the maverick the Tor has already fired a missile. So even though my maverick takes out the Tor, the Tor also manages to take me down. But maby i can circle and use A-G mode from further away to locate targets and then slave the maverick to that point? Maverick is nearly impossible to locate targets with, except at close range and by then you are basically dead. Also, I find it difficult to slew the mav, even with autpilot on. Is there any way to "stabilize" it, so it doesn't keep moving around? Thanks!
  23. Hi guys, Been playing a (short) while now. Have been trying out the Hideout mission. Two questions arise from this mission: 1. How do I use radio to communicate with other jets in the mission? I probably also need to contact my wingman since I always leave without him. That makes him a sad pilot. Also, that makes me more vulnerable. So the question is: how do I communicate with radio? With black shark i just press ' and it works. In A10 the manual says F10 but that brings up map. Also says \ but nothin happens. I also set it to = but nothing happens. 2. How do I use countermeasures in the most effective manner? I guess I'm doing it wrong since I always get shot down. I know theres a missile heading for me (from a Tor) and the auto-countermeasuers starts shooting flares&chaffs but I stlll get hit while trying to outmaneuvre the missile with the aid of the chaffs. Do I need to set the system to look for older/never generation of anti-air? I remember reading something like that somewhere. That would also require the pilot to immediately recognice what kind of missile is heading his way. So far I don't make a program for the countermeasures, just use the default program A. Again, if i managed to write this in the wring place, i apologize. Thanks in advance for any advice!
  24. rgr Ok, thx for the info!
  25. I'm very new to the game, but slowly getting there. Been destroying my first targets after a few days of training. Anyway, the game seems to crash when using CBU87s. I aim it, wait for the five second marker, keep the trigger pressed. And then when the bomb is supposed to go off the game crashes with the message "no input port in target_pos". It works fine with other weapons. I might be using the cbu87 in the wrong way, but the game shouldn't crash because of that. Any way around it or just wait for update? Also, if I haveposted this in the wrong place, please point me in the right direction. As a noob I might easily be making a fool of myself :/ Thank you!
