Just another note Stalker, PAPI and VASI (also called VASIS) is not the same. VASIS is as u said visual aproach slope indicator system and PAPI stands for precision approach path indicator. I can't tell what they use on carrier though(not my field of studies, I study airport design and management) but just stating that PAPI and VASISare not the same(theres also T-VASIS and APAPI, ok ill stop, going too far lol sorry).

My new christmas hardware thread
RvEFoxteR replied to Pilotasso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You should consider asking someone to send you the files from the installation CD coz when I tried to install the drivers and software from the net it didn't work...actually I was able to install the drivers but when I would try to load my profile computer would reboot. I did that just to test if those online drivers are any better then the ones u get with the box and I was wrong. I also heard few other guys saying that those drivers are not working properly. And also I don't recall I had to plug the stick in when it said, I didn't get that message, I pluged the stick before installing the drivers. Actually Win XP recognises X52 automaticly but with the original CD drivers you get some other features plus the SST programming software. Not to mention that they work flawlessly. -

Questions regarding 3rd parties stuff
RvEFoxteR replied to leafer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'll tell you how I installed zzzspace's soundpack; 1) Go to your lockon directory 2)open SOUNDS folder 3)There you will find folder called EFFECTS...rename that folder to EFFECTS1 4)Make a new folder called EFFECTS again (empty one) 5) Put all the files that are zipped in the new EFFECTS folder 6) In he main SOUNDS folder u will find PLANE.CFG and SOUND.CFG files 7) rename PLANE.CFG to PLANE1.CFG and SOUND.CFG to SOUND1.CFG 8) In the zip file you will find PLANE.CFG and SOUND.CFG....unzip it into sounds folder. Thats it...by renaming the files and folders you will keep the defaults game settings and sounds if in any case you don't like zzzspace sounds. To revert back to the original settings just delete EFFECTS folder, PLANE.CFG and SOUND.CFG files and the old files (PLANE1.CFG &SOUND1.CFG) delete the number 1 from the name. Same with EFFECTS1 folder. For Ironhands tutorials my sounds didn't work either dunno why. To activate the winter/autumn patch simply in mission editor where you choose your weather settings change it from summer(default) to any season you like. For the addons get more info at http://www.lockonskins.co.uk & http://www.lockonfiles.com/ -
I found the problem, it was in the button on the throttle labeled "E". I edited the picture of the X52 throttle for anyone else who is facing with same or similar problems.

rgr I'll check it out...as I said before I'm very new to this software so I'm still trying to figure out which key acts like depressed shift key. Thanks alot for all your help bro, I appreciate it very much :)
-
I checked the sticky keys and they were disabled already, thanks for the tip bflagg Yeah the X52 has a mode selector switch that switches between 3 different modes + additional 3 modes if you hold the pinkey switch withe the certain mode. Makes it 6 different modes. I'll check whats wrong with my modes in the profiles, thanks for all your help Goya.
-
You were right Goya, the shift key is depressed (or any other similar one) when my profile is loaded. I loaded the profile and opened a notepad, couldn't write a dam thing, the cursor went mad and also the "find" function poped up when I wanted to write something. Do you have a solution how should i fix this in my profile? I'm new to this software so I would really appreciate a little help. Thanks alot in advance! S!
-
I bought X52 yesterday...everything is cool with it, in the SST software I made a profile for it and everything was working great for some time but then Starforce started poping up whenever I would like to load the game. And it was not that well known starforce window where you just cancel it, load the game again and everything is cool. Nope, in my situation starforce popped up and I couldn't do anything but to restart my computer. (I have a download version of FC btw). I was trying out stuff to see where the problem is and realised that it has something to do with my joystick profile in SST software. When the joystick profiler is on and my profile is loaded I cannot load the game, starforce appears. If the joystick profiler is on but my profile is not loaded game loads without any problems. Then as a temporary solution I just load without a profile then when the game is loaded I alt tab it and load the profile. It works but anyone may admit that this is very anoying and not nearly a solution to the problem. Also if I do like mentioned above, next time I want to load the game with the profile included it works. If anyone had similar problems when using X52 or any other saitek stick with SST software please let me know, I would like to find a solution to this. The stick is great but this kind of kills the fun of using it.

There are many ways to be sure if your oponent is taking less fuel then agreed upon. Turning performance is more superior to yours not due to maneuvering but lesser weight. First of all people that have less weight will most probably force an angles fight pulling hard lead pursuit inside the oponent's circle and when doing so of course killing their speed but then again they will recover the speed quick enough before you use your speed advantage. Also the pilot can tolerate more hard G turning and the climb rate is completely different. We are actually blessed with the lockon engine that you can actually feel the difference even when the guy uses 2-3 % less fuel then you. Whoever has some knowlege in gunzo ACM will know what I'm talking about. Basicly what Flame wants here is a fair fight thats all. When u agree on 40 % or whatever be fair and stay with that fuel, that is the best and the most fair way to see who is better flyer. But I wont be discussing this anymore, I got well used to people taking less then agreed on anyways.

Hey gents, I'm writing this post in the name of my wingman who is having hard time when hosting a game. The trouble is this; when he hosts for 3 people game is absolutely stabile, no lag what so ever. He always host with 128/128 (his connection speed is 512/128). But if 4th person joins that same server whole game crashes. Now, sometimes it crash after 2 mins of flying, sometimes after even 15, no rules really but it always does. The problem is, it does not crash the game but his internet connection. Something weird happens and he get a connection drop and of course server drops too. To host again he needs to reboot his router and connect to internet again. This is not 1.11 related, it was happening in 1.1 as well. Back in the days when we all flew old 1.02 he didn't have this kind of problems and his connection and computer specs were exact the same. Anyone have an idea what is the problem here? He is pretty desperate about this so I would really appreciate if someone has any good tip how to resolve this Regards, =RvE=FoxteR Reservoirs virtual Elite CO

(Wedge or Delta?) + Some formations

Even though the flag on the tail looks Irish those are actually Indian Su30's MKI as PeterJ said -
(Wedge or Delta?) + Some formations
RvEFoxteR replied to zaGURUinzaSKY's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
actually Wedge is a tactical 2 ship formation mostly used in aerial combat. There is element leader in front and his wingman most often on his right with his nose somewhere in the line of the leader's wingtip. this is a tight wedge form where leader's wingman is on the left: if it would be the case for same positioning in a 3 ship formation then it would be called Echelon And yes as Krendel said Delta formation got the name from Greek letter delta -
Can anyone explain me why didn't I get the promised 15 activations when I activated once manually. I only got 2 left now, got 5 in the first place. I spent 2 when I had some really big issues with my pc and that ones I activated automaticly. Some time after I reinstalled FC and tried manual activation from star force site. Everything went cool but then I expected to have aditional 12 activations I only had 2 left. From that day I started using reg tool and it worked fine but thats not the issue, I should have got 15 in the first place as many did. A friend of mine has the exact same problem. I hope someone knows whats the deal with my and his account.
-
It would, I did the same thing once, worked fine for me..just make sure u dont delete that registry file as well with the format lol ;)
-
Im afraid that is not the case GG; when I first installed FC, about a month after the addon came out I had 5 activations and I use the first one for the first instalation of course. I really thought I'll get those promised 15 activations in the first place but a sqd mate of mine told me that if I activate the game manually i'll get them...meaning with the new installation and manual activation procedure I would have 13 activations left...I'm afraid not. When i did that I had 3 left even to I didn't activate it automaticly. Happened the exact same thing to another sqd mate of mine, so nobody can say it's only an issue with my account

Interesting Info on Migs vs. AMRAAMs
RvEFoxteR replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Evaluating what really happened up there by us is complete rubbish. Did any of u actually sit in the cockpit of Mig29 and get fired upon no matter what missile it is? I know I didn't and Im sure nobody of u did it too. What u hear on TV and read on internet about the missile specs can be a pure propaganda. I'm not saying Aim120 is a crap missile, on the contrary its probably the most lethal missile in the world nowdays but hearing you guys say the yugoslav pilots were untrained thats complete BS. You cannot make an objective judgement which pilot was "better" NATO or serbs just because it was not a 1v1 fight it was at least 10v1 fight...now in that case scenario the serbian pilot probably felt like a B52 going against an F15 in dogfight lol. Im sure serbian pilots did their very best I applaud their courage. Not many people will agree with me but former yugoslavian pilots (when yugoslavia was still formed) were one of the best pilots in the world...only because of lack of funds their air force was small but not incompetent. Actually the pilots who flew planes like Mig29A they were the best there is coz that was their best plane. Ive read an article of a serbian colonel who went up against the NATO forces with 2 majors on his both wings, and then he realised his RWR was mulfunctioning. Even though both majors had their plane avionics functional and said to the colonel that they painted few dozen of enemy aircraft ahead the colonel ordered them to RTB and he went in there himself lol. Then he got spiked by 2 tornados who followed him straight away probably calling fighters support. The poor old guy didnt had nothing to do but to save his ass and he started flying in some very tight canyon who only he knew about coz he knew the country like the back of his hand. The canyon was so tight that tornado pilots lost him and then they disengaged. The colonel returned his plane safely to base. The most funny part was the quote he said in the end (lol I was lughing my arse off on this one) he said "can't wait to land this plane to put my boot up that idiot technician's ass who let me fly with a broken radar". Lol I loved that article, it was a whole book written by testimonians of that conflict. -
Indeed, tried them yesterday and I find the views more fluid and stable. Until now I used the retail drivers u get with the CD so u can only imagine what kind of improvement I felt after installing new ones lol. Also with this drivers u get a small software called "mouse emulation" where you can move the mouse pointer by moving your head.
