HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C
tmahring replied to ClearDark's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thx, enabling Aero did the trick. Never thought aero could ever have a positive performance impact. -
thx for the quick reply

Hi Is there a way to make DCS display the current frames per second ? I need to tweak my setup a little and this would come in handy.

HawgTouch - Free Panels & Gauges for A-10C

Hi I created a config file to display both MFCDs and the UFC on my second monitor. It workes fine but has a hughe performance impact, my framerate goes down to about 30%. Does anyone know wether this is a configuration issue or just the way the software is now. -
I am sure this question has been asked 100 times, so here 101

Thats what I did after printing the manual with my laser printer: http://www.bubibrand.de/downloads/binden.pdf Its in german but the pictures should be enought to understand the process. Use wood glue to bind the papers. Instead of the linen strip I just used some duct tape. -
Hi Is there a way to request a pushback from the ground crew if you managed to manouver your plane in a position on the ground where you can't get out otherwise, eg: being parked right in front of a building ?

Can you broadcast your SPI as a Message that others receive like they do from a JTAC and it becomes displayed as "NEW TASKING" in their MFCD ?

I saw that there is a switch on the oxygen regulator that lets you switch from normal oxygen to 100% oxygen. When would you do so ?

Did you realign your EGI after the shutdown ?

30 - 40 euros i think. you have to use a original nintendo one cause the oem versions often do not recognise more than 2 leds.

One more question: How does TrackIR perform in the aspect of axis bleeding ? I mean: In FreeTrack when I move my head left and right without turning this results not only in the desired motion but also in a turn. Same for up/down forward/back. So if I just want to move my head to the right in the cockpit i would have to turn my head a little bit to the left to compensate.

Overwhelmed with questions. Ill start with one.

So thats why I couldn't finish the training mission ! The voice tells you to push the CMS down which i thought ment the regular CMS down command. -
OK, if I have to buy this trackclip pro anyway I will give FreeTrack another chance. Thanks for all your help.

I made my own clip. Do they sell the TrackIR clips by themselfe ? How much are they ?

Thanks for your reply. I forgot something: How far can you turn your head with trackir ? FreeTrack seems to loose the LEDs when I turn my head more than about 15° to one side. I think it's caused by my leds though, still it would be nice to know how TrackIR performes in that matter.

Yes, the centering spring emulated with force feedback can be really anoying in the beginning. But after some tweaking with the force sliders you can get used to it and then its a great system. If you don't want to spend too much money I would recommend it. -
Offtopic: can i somehow tell windows to open this file directly with DCS or do i have to save it and then open DCS to load it ?

Hi I'm currently using FreeTrack with a WiiMote for headtracking, but i have some problems with it. It needs a lot of tweeking to get it working properly and also it seems the software isn't maintained any more. So I'm currently thinking about buying TrackIR. Has anyone here switched from FreeTrack to TrackIR and can tell me if there is a lot of difference ? Does TrackIR work perfectly out of the box or do i have to tweak it too ? How reliable is it ? Also I'm a smoker and freetrack seems to confuse the glow of a cigarette with an IR led (understandable) and goes crazy. Does TrackIR have the same issue or did they manage to solve that ? Thanks for your help

Does anyone know if the targeting computer takes the centrifugal force of the pull into consideration ? If it doesn't, it might be the reason of the bombs hitting behind the target. Try making a short pull and then stabelize the aircraft so that the bombs are released while you are climbing but not pulling Gs.

I think all your settings / pilots are stored somewhere in the users folder and not the installation directory, so you shouldn't need to backup anything.

Print it out and bind it to a book man ! Nothing beats holding the thing in your hand and being able to make remarks / look things up while you are flying...

I sure hope so, besides this jerkiness i really like the g940 and i don't want to trade it for another one. What pisses me of is that I'm quite sure that the jerkiness is not caused by a mechanical problem but by the software controlling the motors and therefore should be fixable by an update. If it was a mechanical problem i think one should be able to feel it even with force feedback turned off.

Hi I was also very confused in my first training missions. What really helped me was reading the first few pages of the "Cockpit Controls" section of the manual which describes all hotas commands and also reading the quickstart guide. Together those enable you to optain a general understanding of how the control concept of the A10 using "Sensors Of Interest" works. Once you have done so it becomes much easier to follow the training lessons.

Nice profile ! Could you post your force feedback settings too ? I got my G940 yesterday and find it very hard to do precise flying with it, especially due to the force feedback centering spring. On hard settings the stick feels very bumpy and i find it impossible to move it around smoothly and on lower settings I constantly disengage the autopilot when im using the ministick for targeting. Did you find a way to solve this or did you just get used to the feel of the G940 ?
