thanks guys. I always feel a bit sick when i spend large sums of money on things that i don't need to stay alive. It is sooo temtpting as i do (kind of) have the cash spare. maybe i can just convince the missus that i only cost £50 :smilewink: @cichlidfan i have the slew controls set up fine in the SST and i love my profile but i was wondering if there is a way of setting up the slew to the mouse stick directly in the game? doesn't seem so.

i bought a second hand x-52 from ebay earlier this year and have to say i have really been enjoying the stick. Recently however it has started acting up; firstly i get the whole becoming unresponsive thing and when i alt-tab out of a-10c to restart the software i often get a CTD from the game (very frustrating when you have been flying a mission for over an hour). Secondly and more bizarrely the mfd on the x-52 has gone haywire. right now it says mode no prifile which should be mode 1 no profile the way the characters screw up is random. My dcs:a-10 profile is called a-10c beta, but sometimes it displays teta or tata instead of beta and mede/made instead of mode (you get the idea). i have reinstalled the software and been in touch with saitek about it but nothing has helped. Now i know i can assign the buttons through the game itself but then i can not use the mouse stick for the slew controls (is there a way round this?) which is a pain in the ass. Has anyone experienced similar problems to this and found a resolution? I would like to purchase the TM warthog but i'm wondering if i can justify the £275 + £~100 pedals. I think my missus would kill me :helpsmilie:

two third party campaigns were removed in .9, you can still download them from the user files option.

tir, it changes things entirely. a good hotas is a must too but if the space between purchases isnt too long, get the tir first since you have a joystick and can live with it (?) for a while. i played around with the face track no ir thing but for me it was a " how the hell did i live without this" when i got tir 5. i want the warthog too but i cant justify the price atm... i have an X-52 and i really like it but will upgrade to the warthog after my SB build.

don't know how easy/simple is easy/simple for you but what i think would be handy are: 1) an encyclopaedic function that gives weapons information for payload options (i always forget my cbu-97's from my 105's etc) 2) a silhouette of vehicles so that recognition in the tgp is easier, perhaps some range info on sam/aaa vehicle to go with it. Excellent app btw and we thank you for your hard work :thumbup:

The 550 will hold you back a bit but its up to you. With gpu's i believe that its always best to buy the best card you can for your money. i.e a stock gtx570 > superclocked gtx 560ti. that said the 560ti is an epic card so it is worth it if you can pick up something like this. In general, and i can not stress this enough, the PSU is the most important bit of a pc. it wont give fps but not frying expensive components will save you money. just check yours out as i have never heard of it..... you dont need a 750w psu unless you plan to sli/xfire in the near future but stable power is key. gief your system though! still have to wait a couple of months before i can get my sandybridge system. happy flying :pilotfly:

having some issues with this. so i installed noir, facetrack api, and ppjoy and played around with it. my computers virus protection kept recognising ppjoy as a trojan (avg and adaware) but it seems that the consensus on tinternet was that it is not so i followed the installation anyway. Since installing i have had a couple of BSOD's whilst playing portal2 and a-10 all since this ppjoy malarky so i uninstalled ppjoy; i notice that all the drivers still remain in the system 32 folder but i want to eliminate all trace of ppjoy so i can be sure that a) it was causing the problem or b) it is not. The stop error is labelled DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION, does anyone know if i can just delete the ppjoy drivers from system 32 without destroying/compromising my system?

I have to say i love flight sims like this; i love the whole startup/shutdown process and the (painfully) detailed way the sim is made. i played F-22: ADF back in the day which was a lot easier to pick up thoug still not easy, but i learnt to love the learning curve. That said... i understand the frustration in this sim. There is a huge amount to absorb and if you are not used to it it can be overwhelming as the attention to detail is outstanding. Hang in there as there is a more arcadey way to play as was mentioned and ED have done an excellent job... One thing i found is that i watched/played the tutorials at first but i made very little of them. After that i put in a few hours of flight and then went back to the tutorials after i had familiarised myself more with the game.
