  1. As for it being overly sensitive: try fiddling with the filter settings, i.e. increasing the numbers, that should make tracking less sensitive.
  2. Worked fine for me...hm. just making sure here: the .dll needs to be in a "headtracker" folder in the "bin" folder... not in the "bin" folder itself.
  3. Tried this yesterday, and tbh, right now i prefer the use of PPJoy as that doesn't override all my other view controls, and i have a key for centering that.
  4. Thanks mate, i'll try this as soon as i get decent lighting tomorrow morning!
  5. Have you tried the EWMA filter instead of smoothing? right now i use that with all settings set to 90 and things seem pretty good.
  6. Well, for me filtering helped a lot in allowing to keep the view steady... it isn't entirely intuitive for me yet, hence why i start feeling dizzy after a while, but it sure is better than with lower filter settings... to each his own, i guess. Improvements tho... hell yes, i'll take what i can get, and i'm sure the people behind this will come up with something clever.
  7. Hm could that be a problem with your calibration? i.e. maybe you introduced some sort of rotational movement into what should be a strictly translational thing?
  8. As for the PPJoy, i went for 6 axes, namel x-axis, y-axis, z-axis, and the respective rotations. In the next screen, i assigned them "Analog 0" thru "Analog 5". I think i later had to switch x-rotation and y-rotation in the game (under axis commands)... as for the FTnoIR settings, i think for calibration i ran minimum filter settings, and a pretty linear curve, but i'm not quite sure of that anymore.
  9. I created a new PPJoy device by using the "Configure Joysticks" application from PPJoy (should be in your start menu). Then I started Facetrack, went into the "Printer+devices" section of windows, right-clicked my x-52 and chose "game controller settings", then selected the PPJoy device in that window, chose calibrate, centered Facetrack, and calibrated it. From that point on it was pretty much down to tweaking curves and filter settings.
  10. Yes I have. i'm not currently using it because i started feeling dizzy after a while, but basically it's working well.
  11. Yes, 1.5 +fix is what i'm using. Thanks for the advice, i'll try fiddling with these. Just out of interest, how do the min, max and Curve settings actually affect filtering? Also, any idea when 1.6 is going to arrive? Definitely sounds like it's going to be worth using :)
  12. Hmmm, Facetrack is working pretty well now, as in, I managed to get all the axes into the game properly, however I have the problem that the view is "wobbling" around a lot, to the point where it's not only annoying and exhausting to watch, but also impossible for me to hit any switches. Any idea how to fix that?
  13. great stuff, i finally got the time and motivation to try and make Facetrack work today, and guess what, it seems i made it :). I think the mistake I made was as simple as not centering Facetrack before calibrating the PPJoy... now everythings good, i'm only still busy with fine-tuning the curves. Oh, and i didnt get translation into the game yet, for some reason it seems i can't calibrate these...
  14. I've tried with only 3 DOF for now (rotations only, since i thought these would be more useful to have), and results are already MUCH better. I think it's pretty much down to tweaking curves now! :) Once i get comfortable with that, i'll try adding the other axes.
  15. As far as I know, I got the patches and everything. I'll try adding axes one by one, maybe this way i can figure out what's happening. Oh, and do i need to place the camera straight center, or is some off-centerage fine?
  16. Thanks daniel, with your tutorial i've managed to get tracking into the game. However, i seem to have the same problem as fael, that is, tracking is not acting as expected. I assume the problem is due to bad calibration of the virtual joystick, but calibrating it again hasn't solved the problem. Any advice on that?
  17. Hm, when i try to start the game straight from the folder instead of thru Steam, i get an error about not being able to open MissionEditor\MissionEditor.lua
  18. Just had a bit of an idea... is it possible to run the x86-version under win 7 x64? as far as i can tell, it's all there in the install folder (got it through steam). Because if so, we could use that TIR fixer program and be good (i hope).
  19. hello, i just got myself FacetrackNoIR and JoyPP. To make it short, FNT seems to be working fine, but i have trouble getting the data into Windows, let alone DCS:A-10. Since i'm running the 64-bit version, PPJoy is my only option. What i did: Set FNT to Virtual Joystick Set up a Virtual Joystick with 6 axis', 3 movement and 3 rotation. Start FNT Go into the gamecontroller settings try and calibrate the virtual joystick using my head failing. For instance, after calibration, x- and y-axis appear to be swapped, rotation is only recognized for the y-axis (pitch)... Also, PPJoy is giving me a Virus/Malware alert (using Kaspersky 2010)... Any advice on either of my problems would be much appreciated. Thanks Gneckes
  20. Just got my X-52, installed this profile, and now i'm enjoying the awesomeness of DCS A-10! :) Oh, and learning a dozen keybinds again :P
