  1. Not sure how to move this thread over here, but I guess it should be in this forum: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=110325 Essentially my game is activated but dcs world and the BS2 upgrade apparently can't figure that out and tell me to still go and do it.
  2. I'll try that. I'm guessing the key is something obvious? So I don't delete the wrong thing. To be clear, by deactivating you mean doing so by deleteing the key right? That's not two separate steps?
  3. umm, I don't know, how do i find that out? Also btw you guys are fantastic - very helpful forum, this.
  4. Ok I did that. It told me that the app is already activated and that it's still valid. asks me if I want to run without reactivation. I said no. It did the activation again, with serial and what not. I got this: Activation is successfully completed. License parameters: The key is valid from 4/30/2009 11:13:00 PM for unlimited period of time Activations left: 7 So I'm all happy, start up DCS World, click module manager, click install on the BS2 upgrade, and yet again it tells me BS1 needs to be installed and activated :( same happens with the upgrade file I downloaded when I execute that.
  5. It does not, and has not, asked me for a cd key. I just entered a MP game, sat in the helicopter and started it up with win+home. no cd key was asked, ever. Odd though, when I first clicked fly it just showed me a truck. Had to do it again and then I was in the helo.
  6. I know. that's when in tells me to have bs1 activated...
  7. that didn't work either, as I should have known. ASks me for the serial when I start a mission. Mine of course don't work because they're for the upgrade. When I exit I then see the chopper in game but can't get to cockpit view or do anything.
  8. Well the thing is, if I start DCS World and try to install it, it tells me BS1 needs to be installed and activated. Same if I just try the file itself and choose the upgrade license. I didn't fly, but I was in the lobby watching, so I had definitely connected. I don't think there's any other installer than the GF one. Something odd though. I on a whim started the update file and selected the first license thing. It seems to have installed...right now something within DCS World is updating something.
  9. It did not. I even joined a game session with no problems, but the game is still not activated and it's not asking me to either. I did a reinstall as well, nothing.
  10. I'm sorry I must be dense. BS 1 *is* installed to another folder. I am not sure how you mean activate it...Is that a step during installation?
  11. Hmm, sorry but I don't really want to spend more money than I have to. Naturally, I did run into a problem: I don't know how to activate Black Shark 1 inside of DCS World. All I see there is a buy button.
  12. thanks... I have reinstalled it and ran it for a couple of minutes yesterday so I should be good to just buy and download the upgrade and install it I assume.
  13. Thanks for the reply...I am not sure though I understand the above...I need to activate Black Shark 1 before I install? Don't I install and then activate? Also I thought DCS World is free, not something I need to purchase?
  14. Hi, a good while ago I bought Black Shark from D2D which is now of course Gamefly. My question is, I want to upgrade to BS 2 - what is the best process to do that. I hear about a DCS World, and it all seems to have changed quite a bit. Oh, I also have DCS A-10 Warthog, on Steam though. Would be nice to combine it all if possible. Also thinking of adding in combined arms (I think - can I create things in there and then fly the A-10 / BS in whatever is happening in combined arms?) Thanks in advance...
  15. Not sure how you've helped when all I see in this thread is that I've been told to use gain and level, and then you post a screenshot of units in an open field - when both of that is exactly what I've originally posted I do not have a problem with. Well except Frostiken who actually tried to help, and random others going off about not seeing the targets in the open field screenie. And btw, nice way of twisting what I posted around to make me look bad. What I said is that before posting something to help it would be good to read and understand what the problem is to begin with, or it's just a waste of everyone's time. But whatever. I did not come here to argue on the internet. You either want to help new people to get into the game, or you don't. You decided you're done helping me in particular, fine. Let's end this thread before it gets ugly, that's not what I want.
  16. Not sure what the point is of the first paragraph - not impossible, but very difficult? Sure, I can agree with that. Good to know they're working on it. Got your point about the open field screenshot. However, as I mentioned before, since I understand and use gain and level I usually don't have issues finding targets that are stupid enough to stand around in an open field. Others might, screenshot is for their benefit, got it. As far as I am concerned, not sure why we're still argueing...
  17. Is it possible to ask for a guide? Communications would be great...not what buttons to press, but who to contact when, what information to exchange, what to then do with it etc. I'm one of those new A10 pilots who's been flying for a while - from RoF over several Jane's titles (dynamic campaign in Apache Longbow was the best) to old ones such as Red Baron, and my main hurdle is how to effectively communicate...flying, weapon systems and SOI/SPI was easy to grasp and fairly well explained to get one going.
  18. I guess I just have to watch youtube videos. I find myself very overwhelmed with the communications in the game. I know how to use it - hotas and f-keys. I just don't know when to contact who, what to do with some/most of the information given etc. After playing more custom missions it's really the comms that are my issue, and making effective use of them.
  19. Allright, didn't expect this thread to create this much traffic...anyways, about the 3 targets in the first screenshot on page 1, yes, those are easy to see. If I put a target in an open field, yep, that's easy. Put a target next to a city, and it's a different ballgame. And while I'm not overly concerned with anyone's time other than my own, what I meant to say is that trying to help is nice. Not reading the person's post before helping is just a waste of time. And once more, I understand gain and level. that's not the problem. The problem is that things like tanks do not stand out against most backgrounds other than fields.
  20. I've done all the tutorials that are available in the game. I know how to use TGP, am comfortable with all the weapon systems and the SOI / SPI system and have read quite a bit of the manual. When I create my own missions or fly some of the easy practice missions I'm doing fine - not always, but if I don't I know why. The campaign, however, is something else. There's is just so much going on that I don't understand. I've read the JTAC part in the manual, but using it while in the mission just doesn't seem to click for me. I've played sims for a long time now, and I don't even want to think about how someone would cope who's most realistic experience wasn't on a PC. The tutorials just in no way prepare you for an actual mission. Not even close. They're great to have, they're just not going far enough. I'd love at least something on communication. It seems so essential while on a mission, and it's not at all explained. Reading the manual only gets you so far, considering all the things you need to put into practice that you have only briefly read about. I guess what I am saying is, fantastic game, I just wish I'd be able to enjoy more of it!
  21. Thanks for the help, I will do a search for strongharms posts. BTW - you should really read posts before offering your help - you wasted a bunch of your time explaining gain and level to me, when I clearly posted that I understand this already. As for the FLIR modelling, well that makes sense. I was wondering why I can't set my TGP in any way so that a tank - a very hot signature - stands out properly against some trees (marginal heat) and empty, brick buildings (no heat) - currently, it just looks like some very ugly, white-brown-black texture mess. There's no way to differentiate between, say, a tree and a BMP unless zooming in so far that by the time you know it's a tree you're already past the area and have to circle around. And yeah, I am using high res MFCDs. I guess all I can do is wait for ED to fix this. It's rather dumb, the campaign is pretty much unplayable for me because it's really, really stupid trying to shoot AAA or SAMs with your gun since you can't tell it's there unless you're less than a mile out.
  22. So I have one problem...I can't seem to find targets in the TGP. I change gain and level, use FLIR and CCD modes, and sometimes I even KNOW where the target is (made my own mission), but then still am having issues getting the TGP close to where i need it to be so I can then scan the area and find the target. I find altitude helps, of course, but particularly targets close to a city or wooded area is very hard for me to find. Maybe it's my red-green colorblindness? I've got no problems with pretty much anything else in the simulation, but finding a target ~7-10NM out with the TGP seems to defeat me, unless the targets nicely placed on an empty open field.
