  1. You should be able to fly through the edges of trees, but not the middle ...

I think the trees shouldn't give you much protection (other than visual cover & radar clutter) from any of the (projectile) weapons on flyables firing down (ie unless you're firing horizontaly through a forest). Rounds fired down from the guns on A10s, Su25 / 25T, F15 etc. are going to mostly meet thin air & any that don't are going to clear the way for those that follow.. Proximity fuses on missiles might get confused though.

Perhaps model an invisible colidable cylinder (truck) 2/3 the hight & 1/5 the width of the tree in the middle, then you can still clip the tree tops with a wing & not crash & burn. Same with a rotor hovering in a clearing, get some cover from rounds etc, but not just plow through the trees or get instant safety when you drop into them. ( would also mean that say - tanks, could fire at a chopper (or tank) through the trees & if it was lucky find a clear path for the shell, but mostly if there are any number of trees, hit a trunk).

Make the colidable bit damageable - trees catch fire & once burnt don't colide any more.

Yes, trees shouldn't catch fire from everything though. Something like this may sound advanced, but is probably possible to implement without too much problems as the model needs only to be an approximation of the reality and no way near as advanced to feel real.
  2. I've found the Tungs don't shoot down KH58's. They'll shoot down the other antiradar missile though. You just need to fire enuf to get thru the defenses. A high attack gives you a better chance of breaking thru their defenses.
If you don't want to wast missiles you can do this: fly towards the target, lock him up and wait until he fires, as soon as he does (or just before) this you fire your missile and commence evasive manuevers.
  3. Why did they remove the retarded mk-84 after the demo? I mean if the a-10 couldn't carry it, then the b-52 surely can (seen video of the real thing dropping them).
If it's not much heavier or larger than regular Mk-84's (which I doubt they are), the A-10 should be able to carry them. It's just a big lump of metal after all...
  4. Oh look, branded a 25T fanboi. Thanks :D

Although is that supposed to be an insult. :p :icon_lol:

I suggest you should spend your time flying FC to enjoy it instead of faultfinding, thats what the betatesters are for...... Oh thats it.... You after a betatester job.;)

I don't think he's out to find faults, but just stumbled on something that seemed to be wrong, it wasn't, but that's no reason to be unfriendly.
  5. My attitude is that you love each sim for the enjoyment it gives you. Otherwise uninstall it. I fly more than one sim, and I do so for different reasons. And I refuse to choose between playing one or the other. Cuz no one can make me play just one! ;)

Having had the controls of a real plane, and flown down low and fast in planes and choppers LOMAC feels better to me. A family friend of ours is an F16 instructor at Luke. He told me Lock On felt more real.

Yep, but IMO even most people that haven't flown at all would say that LockOn feels more like flying than F4, because we can all *feel* even without *knowing*.
  6. Some months ago Chizh has made a remark that new trees would be introduced into Black Shark. But since this isn't on the feature list of 1.2 and considering that a high detal terrain has been mentioned in regard to Tank Killers, it is kind of a open question now.

But I have no doubth that at least the current trees will influence LOS in 1.2, otherwise the whole helo thing would be kind of pointless.

You also need to be able to collide with trees, something I've missed since Flanker 2, it just feels stupid to fly right through the trees when you're going NoE.
  7. Wouldn't mind seeing the guncam of the F-15J that accidently shot down his own wingman who was acting as an enemy with an AIM-9L in a training dogfight with live weapons.
Training with Live weapons, now that's pretty bold (read: stupid).

I would like to hear the voice com from that exercise.

  8. Goya & I ran on a Hawk last evening. It happened to be situated in kind of a bowl, so It was having a rough time painting us- as we came over the terrain it literally freaked.. and shot off almost everything it had in 1 salvo. Several missiles just blew up after a few hundred yards. One of the LN's even let one go at the LN unit sitting next to it :p. After I took out the TR unit, I think it quit, didn't it? (I had to fly up and around to see how I did)
Hehe... that happens from time to time if you fly low enough :p
  9. Yeah, credit given where credit is due. The Draken, Viggen and Gripen are quite an achievment for being the domestic products of a small country. I always liked the idea of how the airbases are in the countryside with roads being used as taxiways and runways.
Don't forget J-32 Lansen (The Lance), J-29 (The flying barrel, which to my knowledge is the only swedish aircraft used in combat(Kongo, 60's)) and J-21 R...

Viggen doesn't really sound like a fighters name in english... SAAB J-37 dam da dam... THE TUFTED DUCK! :icon_eek:

  10. AFAIK, the Gripen has a modifyed version of the same engine used in the legacy F-18. Its license built in sweden. For now the Gripen's T/W ratio is inferior to that of the F-16 for example, but if funds are not cut an uprated engine version should be in service in a few years.

The gripen IMHO is not the badest boy on the block but has enough AA tricks up its sleeve to make any oponent nervous.

    That's true. It makes 0.5 M - 1.5 M in 30 seconds.
