  1. Well this is embarrassing. Turns out it was the UPS that was alarming. Computer power supply pulling too much at high graphics use. New Starforgesystems.com machine is amazing.
  2. Thanks all for the suggestions. This system is 9 years old. So I've given up and ordered a new Starforge Voyager 2 system. At 76, it should be the last machine I ever buy. Won't arrive until sometime in March, so I'll struggle along for now. Question, do I just do a fresh install on the new machine and login to get my maps and modules etc.? Thanks again for all the suggestions.
  3. Apologizes if this belongs somewhere else. Could not find an area for this specific kind of question. It has to do adding another 32GB of RAM to my machine. It's a Lenovo K450, so there are limited things I can do. I've upgraded to an RTX-3060 w/12 GB of RAM. Replaced the CPU with an I7-4790K 400Mhz 4 core 8 thread unit. It's as high as I can go with this motherboard socket. I have 32GB of 1600MHz RAM (4 x 8). The only thing left I can change is to add another 32GB of RAM. Since I've spent several hundred $$ on GPU and CPU upgrades (not to mention new WinWing throttle and joystick) I don't want to keep trying to put lipstick on this pig unless I have a good chance of improving performance. Running DCS, my CPU, RAM, and GPU use rates are all at or near 80 percent. I can only run DCS at the lowest graphics settings. If the GPU runs more than 80%, I get an audible alarm that won't stop until it gets below 80%. As a side note, MSFS at the lowest settings runs over 80% GPU use at startup. Can't run it at all. So - is there any chance adding an additional 32GB of RAM will allow me to run DCS at more high-end settings or is it just good money after bad? Retired and can't afford to keep making mistakes. Appreciate any feedback.
  4. As soon as I drop below 90% GPU utilization, the noise stops. Have the same issue with MSFS. As long as I reduce the graphic settings so it runs below 90% I'm fine. Appreciate all the feedback.
  5. I'm having an issue with the Nevada map QFE settings given by the "ATC" being below what I can dial on the Altimeter. It's generally something like "24.52". I haven't changed anything in the mission editor. Am I the only one? Did a term search with non results. Appreciate the help.
  6. Sorry, just noticed your reply. Not sure where it's coming from. But it only happens when GPU use exceeds 90%. I lowered graphics settings and it has stopped. There's some "buzzer" device in the monitor somewhere .
  7. The sound is coming from the monitor itself, not through the computer speakers. I changed the refresh rate to 60 hz. Great screen image and everything runs fine until I hit the 90% rate. Not sure how to reduce GPU use when CPU and 32 GB of RAM are at 70+ %. I'll run 2.8 stable until they push Nvidia stuff to that. May have to just give up at that point. Retirement doesn't allow the kind of equipment it appear DCS is moving to. Appreciate the help.
  8. No it's 70. Thanks I'll try that. I did find that the alarm sounds whenever GPU use exceeds 90%. Thanks again. This stuff is way smarter than I am.
  9. I just upgraded my CPU to an I7 4790K (4 x 8). That's the only change. I'm using an HP 32Q 1440 monitor that's spec'd at 70hz refresh rate. I upgraded the CPU hoping for better performance (less lag and stuttering). Seems to be helping. However, as soon as I'm in the cockpit, even without clicking on the "Fly" button, after a few seconds I get a high pitched squeal coming from the monitor. It sounds like an alarm of some kind but I can't find anything on the HP site. It only does it on 2.9 beta. The stable version seems to fine so maybe something to do with the Nvidia stuff? The HP 32q has AMD Freesync technology installed, but It's turned off. So is VSync in DCS. I'm at a loss here. I'm thinking it's some kind of alarm telling me I not driving the monitor right, but it didn't start until after the CPU change. Installed the latest driver from HP didn't help. Nvidia driver is up to date. Any thoughts/help is appreciated. Cant' fly with the monitor screaming at me constantly.
  10. I'm having similar issues. My Logitech keyboard has a display that shows the percent of RAM and CPU use. When I load DCS 2.7, at idle with just the opening wallpaper screen I show CPU use at under 15%. When I load DCS 2.9, it jumps to over 50%. When I open a 2.9 mission, it runs 88 to 100%. RAM use is consistent between the two at ~60%. I'm running Windows 10. Intel Core i5-4460 CPU at 3.2 GHz 4 core - 4 Logical Processors. 32 GB RAM. Just bought a new RTX 3060 with 12GB RAM thinking it might take some of the load off the CPU and it supported DLSS. Didn't help. I know nothing about multi-threading. Any info or help is appreciated.
  11. Well, simple things first. That fixed it. What a mess. Really appreciate the assistance. Cliff
  12. Flappie: Thanks again. Not sure where the French thing is coming from. Only other "language" I'm qualified in is Morse Code, and slow at that. I ran the steps you listed, but when I try to open the file, it's empty. Tried several times and the file date/time stamp does not update. Tried setting all the logging options to "Yes" then restarting computer, and get the attached report. There are several DROP lines, some look like their between the multiple computers in my home network (based on IP address info). Others I'm not familiar with. Once again, I appreciate the assistance. 13. Flappie: New stuff for me. Appreciate the assistance. I stopped the capture right after the download failed. For this run, I did NOT turn off Windows Defender antivirus or firewall protection. Thanks again Gadgets DCS Update Failure.zip
  14. I've been having random issues updating DCS World (both stable and open beta) for a while. Found that if I ran as "administrator" I could update the stable version, but when I try to install the Syria Map I get the following (this is a partial screen shot and spelling error is in the error message). 00000.273 INFO : branch: 00000.275 STATUS: Downloading version info... 00000.305 ERROR: Conection to server 'cdn.digitalcombatsimulator.com' failed: Couldn't resolve host name 00000.305 STATUS: Servers are unable to complete your request. Please, try again later. 00002.968 === Log closed. Tried disabling Windows Defender and Windows Firewall but get the same error message. I was able to install the map in the beta version. Any help is appreciated. Cliff "Gadgets"
  15. As it turns out he doesn't actually RTB, he continues to follow you and if you keep trying he eventually attacks the targets. He got shot down in the process however. Wars hell.....
